I'm a Protestant and I believe I'm being led to the Catholic church. Please pray for me. I want to be a part of the Catholic Church. I don't know where to start. I've done years of study and research on this. Of course with my Protestant background I was very anti Catholic. But reading books, studying history, listening to lectures and seminars. Being frustrated with divisiveness within my tradition . I'm very familiar with theological literature both Protestant and Catholic. I'm drawing closer to Rome now. I travel for work , I'm always away from home. I don't know where to start to become catholic. I can't attend RCIA because I stay away working for months at a time. Can anybody give advice?

I’d say find a good priest and explain your situation, he might allow you to do some studying on your own or one on one’s with him from time to time. I could be wrong but I know I’ve heard of some people being able to do something like that instead of RCIA

Keep watching good solid Catholic you tube videos from excellent priests. I’ve learned so much about the faith by watching you tube. Then when time permits go the the classes. Find a good Parrish near your work. I go to adoration at a church near my work. Learn about sacramentals use them. God loves you and welcomes you with open arms. Come as you are!!

1 Peter 5:8. God forgives but He can never forget. If we make it to heaven our sins will always be remembered which is why the Psalms say, 'His mercy is everlasting.' To refuse His sacramental grace is clinging to personal sin as an idol. Protestantism is the 'eye of the owl that cannot look at the light of the sun'. @@zacharycarrier2890 I’m Orthodox and I can tell you one of the worst and foulest of heresies that most Protestants seem to be united on is the way they speak about the Lord’s mother, the most holy Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary. Nearly all Protestants do this, except maybe some Lutherans. I have heard some of the most downright awful, nasty, degrading rhetoric from them essentially slandering and even mocking our Blessed Mother. Some of the really ugly things I’ve especially heard from these evangelical types could rival damn near any atheist or satanist. Many Protestants strangely reserve a deep hatred of our most beloved Panagia.

This priest used to be active in the FSSP parish where I am active. He was transferred a couple of years ago and is now in another state at an FSSP parish. When he was transferred, it was a huge loss to our parish. His sermons were highly edifying. He has occasionally gotten into trouble because he will not compromise the truth. God bless this holy priest. I hope this was a current sermon, and not some retread from years past. But the content is no less true, no matter when it was offered.

Jesus Christ has founded Catholic church 2000 years ago. Luther, Henry VIII, etc. have had the demonic proud 1500 years after to want to reform the Church founded by the Son of God. Saved is past tense. Washing of regeneration is referring to baptism. Just because your soul was infused with sanctifying grace and you had all your sins, both original and actual, forgiven during baptism, doesn't mean you can't fall back into grave sin and lose that state of grace and destroy the friendship and status to which God raised you.

@@mking7690 You misunderstand the verse. We are saved by Fatih which human eyes cannot see. The works is Christ working through us that others can see our Faith. James was teaching the difference between a head knowledge of Christ compared to a true heart felt faith in Christ. Sort of like water baptism. Water baptism does not save us it is just an outward expression of receiving the Holy Spirit through faith.

Tell them to see the movie "Nefarious" and let it speak to their souls. Stop preaching pray suffer sacrifice and TRUST Jesus have Masses said for them and never under estimate the power of following the Will of God and offering it up to Jesus for grace and Mercy for those we love. @Dr Jan I don't. in the early church, those that followed Christ were called Christians and following Christ was called the "Way". there is no particular church name mentioned in God's Word. the church I attend preaches and teaches God's Word. it is where God would have me serve Him. it is for His honor and glory alone, not any particular church or denomination.

@Jacques LeFave of course she needed a Savior! She was created and preserved from sin by her Son/Savior. To me that is one of the worst arguments for Mary not being Immaculate. Martin Luther ( psycho) Zwengli, Wesley others all believed this. Anglicans also. Your modern version of Protestantism is soo diluted. Not only from the 2000 year old Church. But even from the first Reformers Protestants are do it yourself religion. That's why there are 40k of you who can't agree on anything except your hate for the One True Church. You are the chaff we are the wheat I understand. Its a rebellion against God. You can't help it and would not believe the Truth even if you heard it. I'll pray 🙏

John 3:16 For God so loved the world he gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in HIm shall not perish but have everlasting life. It's that what saves us not the Pope or the following of the Roman Catholic Church.

I prayed a divine mercy chaplet and rosary as my dad was passing away. He was not officially Catholic but never spoke Ill of the Church and he knew the Hail Mary. I trust what St Faustina says about praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy next to a dying person. Following his funeral a white mist was seen above his casket. I took this as a sign of Gods mercy and he was willing to accept the Lord’s Mercy at the hour of death. I pray for him and the souls of purgatory every day. Some will be there for a very long time 🙏🏼

We do pray to Jesus, we pray to all 3 persons of the Holy Trinity, we pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Saints, and the Holy Angels for intercession for us and for you. @@littleone1656 salvation comes first when the Holy Spirit lives in us. Ephesians 1:13-14. And because of the Holy Spirit living in us we do true good works. But those good works never save us. They may show we are saved, but they have nothing to do with our salvation. Protestants have it Biblically. Roman Catholics are not following scripture, they are following the Council of Trent and other man made traditions.

Now a person can be saved and struggle to overcome that sinful lifestyle but they won’t love it. All of that has nothing to do with works saving you and no one in church history other than those of a false religion ever taught that works had anything to do with a person obtaining salvation.

Yes, the church teaches that only God can forgive sin. But Jesus Christ gave authority to the church to forgive sin (albeit it’s not the priest that forgives). Mt 16:19. These apostles have verifiable successes that are ordained to this day. I totally get where you are coming from, I was Protestant for the first 35 years of my life. But once you study their doctrines, you can’t deny. Unfortunately sacred scripture talks about a great deception that causes men to believe lies. Like you, I also subscribed to heresy, I didn’t know any better. You should be angry that you’ve been sold a lie and now believe it. When you persecute the Catholic Church, you are persecuting the Bride of Christ (no the Bride is not the random self declared Christians outside of the church). If you are serious, you need to research their claims yourself. The first thing is to realise that prior to Sacred Scripture being canonised by the Catholic Church (300+yrs after Jesus) their was only Sacred Tradition (oral teachings). John spoke of many things that Jesus did that were not recorded. Those things are known to the Catholic Church in Sacred Tradition. When they put Sacred Scripture into a book, known as the Bible it had an additional 7 books. Luther an excommunicated catholic priest removed 7 books, interestingly those books primarily confined much of the doctrine you deny. Luther actually believed in the communion of Saints and asked Mary to intercede for him. The whole denial of this is only a recent heresy. For 1500 years prior to Luther Christianity was solely catholic. Go to a catholic apologist site and research everything yourself. Once you discover the truth, find a parish and do the RCIA program. Then try and save as many deceived non Catholics as possible. Their souls matter.

@ODMA That's not what Mathew 16:19 means. It actually means the church is to spread the gospel and tell people of the coming of the Kingdom of God. They have no authority to forgive, only to let people know how to do it according to the words of Jesus. It is up to each individual to ask forgiveness directly to Jesus. Not through any mediator.

The Apostle Paul received direct revelation from Jesus, per the Bible. Paul taught salvation by faith alone. No Church needed. And any religion that teaches otherwise is in violation of God's Word.

Our Lord founded a real brick and mortar Church with men in charge. Jesus spoke to the 7 Churches, as noted in Rev 1, those were real places, some were even former pagan temples.

And Jesus said "I am the truth the light and the way, no man comes unto the father but through me. For whosoever believes in me shall not perish but have everlasting live. Take it up with the most high if you have a problem with that.

No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him and will wake you up by the Holy Spirit.

It is not the church who decides salvation, it is God who will judge all mens hearts and his justice is merciful and perfect. I have faith in that promise and while not catholic I sacrifice for God and do my very best to be worthy of that mercy

Thank you Father. I've always held the conviction that, honest and sincere, non-Catholic's would not be left out in the cold. I know so many wonderful Protestant's, our Christian bros and sis's, that put Catholic's to shame. I've also felt secure that Gods' mercy is greater than our feeble limitations, despite my doubts, at times, over this question. A wonderful, and encouraging, sermon on the limitless love, kindness and consideration that God has for us, His children.

@@lukebrasting5108 My friend if you read the entire context you would understand being born of water is natural birth, Jn 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Baptism of the spirit has nothing to do with water. Ephesians 1: 13 In Him you also, after hearing the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and after believing in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Remember every time "baptism" is mentioned it does not mean water.

As a thought experiment for Catholics who think those outside the church can't make it to heaven, I want you to consider this short biography of St. Seraphim, an Orthodox saint who was never in the Catholic church: One day, while chopping wood, Seraphim was attacked by a gang of thieves who beat him mercilessly with the handle of his own axe. He never resisted, and was left for dead. The robbers never found the money they sought, only an icon of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) in his hut. Seraphim had a hunched back for the rest of his life. He spent five months in the monastery, recovering from his injuries and then returned to the wilderness.[1] After this incident Seraphim spent 1,000 successive nights on a rock in continuous prayer with his arms raised to the sky, a feat of asceticism deemed miraculous by the Eastern Orthodox Church, especially considering the pain from his injuries. I wish the Catholic Church where I live would start talking about issues today & how to deal with them with God.

Notice he keeps saying can a good protestant make it to heaven. No person can make to heaven by good works Ephesians 2:8-9

This is a great joy to my soul. I am a devout Catholic (I don’t know about good) but i do all I can to pursue holiness. I have many friends who are Protestant and pray and teach them as often and we’ll as I can. I was there. God who is just and good and merciful called me where I am not. And the prayers of the saints and for conversion of sinners carried me on my way. Praying for the dead in purgatory is a great love of mine. And so, friends, when you hear of purgation it is to see the perfection of heaven… and yes I’m praying for the souls of the Protestants who made it to purgatory. Thank God I was saved out of Romanism. I was born again one night in the military at 3:00 am and never looked back. Pray for Catholics who are blinded by traditions of men and rank paganism.

This priest sounds like he has never read the book of Hebrews. Salvation is a guarantee. God swore an oath. Yet he still doesn’t believe God will keep His promise. God cannot lie. This priest is saying “God may be a liar. He may not keep His oath. He may not keep His promise. We have no guarantees.”

What a beautiful faith we have🙏

Ornate buildings and beautiful artwork does not a true church make. The Last Supper was held in a very humble upper room over an ordinary building.

I was once a Roman Catholic. Having read the Bible I know how much error the Roman Catholic Church is in. Christ is my saviour, NOT the pope or the teachings of the pope. Christ is my saviour Not Mary, although I have respect for her. I will never bow down to Mary or the pope. Also, I will NEVER, EVER be good enough to earn salvation, no matter how much I try, I am trusting in Christ’s goodness to save me, NOT my own, as I have none. Jesus suffered and died on a cross, taking the punishment I deserved to take, He bore my sin on that cross and rose again as He said He would. Romans 8;1-2 says……Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Turn to Christ for your salvation, the perfect sinless one gave His life for us who are sinners. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3;16 Trust in The Saviour my friends, not the teachings of man. 🙏

If only all Catholics could read this. What was the key or breaking point that caused you to leave the Catholic Church?

What a giant mess we humans have made of Christianity. The Catholic, the Orthodox, and more than 30.000 different protestant churches, each one saying they are the only true Church of Christ. This is so embarrassing and confusing! I´m Catholic and stick to my church only because I have to play ball and make a choice or I will go crazy. Guess who´s cheering and partying in this giant mess? God have mercy on all of us because we´ve done such a terrible job!! Do you know who is my only consolation? It is the Virgin Mary, I do all she asks me to do, pray the Rosary daily, go to Confession frequently, receive the Eucharist every week, and hope for the best! The only solution is a direct intervention of God. Jesus, please, come soon!!!

Read Romans 14. Paul gives inspired guidance as to the requirements to be acceptable to Jesus. I have heard it said Lutherans in heaven ate surprised to see so many other faithful there. Perhaps our faithful Catholics and others are afflicted with the self same misconception. Peace to you.

The priest is correct in that there is no guarantee of final salvation, simply in that we haven't died yet. We can generally be sure that we are in a state of grace though.

I read in a Sunday Daily Visitor, paper, a priest answered a question , that if one does not know the Catholic church is the true church , and tries to be a good christian, .that they, too, can be saved.

Brave priest - spells out the truth, without dancing around "diplomacy".

While a number of good points are made in this homily, I can't help wondering if the summation (beginning around 12:45) is not teaching Feeneyism which was condemned in 1949. Could someone please explain if/how this is NOT the case?

Father Feeney taught that water Baptism was essential for salvation and denied the doctrines of Baptism of Desire and Baptism of Blood. Specifically, Fr. Feeney said that a soul could be "justified" through Baptism of Desire, and have his Original Sin be cleaned (thus be in a state of grace), but enter into the Beatific Vision. That was a specific heresy that he taught.

Feeneyism so called was " condemned via an unsigned decree. You might want to do some deeper digging. Try and find a copy of Gary Potter's After the Boston Heresy Case. You'll see from the info presented Father Feeney was not excommunicated for Heresy he was punished for disobedience in not reporting to a tribunal. THe Modernist were well established under Pius XII and the Fr Feeney affair shows their power.

in a situation like yours who is always away from home and is uncertain where to start to become catholic, The easiest way to start is to pray the rosary everyday and ask guidance from blessed Mother Mary. You will not solve that problem by yourself if you heartily ask it from our Mother Mary. She cannot fail you she will leads you to the process without you knowing it.

guess I should add this that Mary really can't accomplish much from the grave, follow Christ as He died so you could go straight to the father with your prayers.

We have assurance of salvation. As a priest with apostolic succession in the one, holy, catholic, apostolic church I know that I am saved by the blood of Christ. Incorrect. We don't have assurance, we have confidence.

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved. JOHN 3 verse 16. Friends, to be saved from sin and inherit eternal life is simple. We come to God confessing our sin and ask Him to forgive us (see the Lord's prayer), we place our trust by faith in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross, His blood shed on our behalf, the Lamb of God, Who takes away our sin. This blood is efficacious forever. For it is by faith in Him we are saved, not by works or ritual. Read the Bible, especially the Gospel of John, read and believe.
