Negative space shows restraint in a composition and many artist don’t understand that restraint shows a level above of artistry

Hi Vanessa, I'm glad I can help to get your mojo flowing! I understand the overwhelming... been there many times myself. Best advise would be to pick one technique and then move forward once you have mastered that. There are so many recipes, techniques and words of advise. You really need to just start small and fiddle around until you find what works for you. If you want to chat feel free to gone me a shout... I'm willing to help if able. Cindy

Hi Lori, many thanks.. I hear Netflix is pretty cheap! (An alternative to binging me).😀. Hey Lori, I know you sent me a friend request on FB. I don't have an art page, just my family stuff so I don't generally accept friend requests... Having said all that I love chatting with other artists so feel absolutely free to keep our chat open on FB or KZread. I think the knowledge we gain from the experience of others is huge. Cindy

Hi Linda, I'm so happy to hear This! I used to lack confidence as well... once I began to accept that fact that it was just paint and worse case scenario was I scrape and try again it became much easier... all happy experimenting really. You've got This! Just play and have fun and who cares what anyone else thinks. Cindy

Thank you... I have not been able to get Aussie Floeteol for months now and the stuff is becoming the cost of liquid gold! I must say it is a game changer for consistent cells and lacing. When it comes back in Canadian stock I may work out a mix of US & Aussie to cut out some of the cost. Cindy

Thx Cindy. I’ve never used Aussie floetrol and very reluctant. I’m quite happy with the regular floetrol. I use a mix that Arisa Roo came up with a few years back and it works quite well. I’m afraid actually to try the Aussie flo cause I don’t want to get hooked on it lol! Hope you are on the mend ❤️‍🩹

Thank you Jaunita.. it always makes me smile when I see the icon with that beautiful face. Pitties have the faces that you just want to squish and squeeze. 😀. Too bad they have such a lousy rapor. I had a brindle baby quite a few years back and he was a huge love bug. I called him Grim. We can all do this Jaunita with a bit of practice. Using the cheap paint gives us all the opportunity to create without needing a second job to affordable supplies. 😀Cindy

Absolutely stunning! I'm a fan! I love how you know when to stop! I agree about negative space .. When using these inexpensive paints .. do they not hold up well? I ask because if I saw this painting i would never know you didn't use the expensive stuff!

Great question 🤔. I wouldn't use them if I was doing a commission piece or something bigger. I'm not 100% sure of how light fast they would be over time. That being said I have several pieces at least 5 yrs old (brush work) that are exactly the same color as the day I painted them. Some of the expensive paints don't have a great light fast rating either. Unfortunately its just a fact that some pigment colors hold up better than others. As far as knowing when to stop o can tell you that I have messed up many, many pieces but just adding "a little bit more".. it happens. Happy Easter and happy painting. Cindy

Lol.. its a cocktail skewer on Amazon.. BUT if you want to be super thrifty grab some bamboo kabob skewers from the dollar store and a bag of good size beads. Just a little dab of glue on the pointed end of the stick and pop it into the bead.. ta da instant curly que makers.. and you can make as many different sizes you like. Cindy

Hi, I'd be happy too. It's called minwax pre woodconditoner.. little red can. Make sure you get oil based because it comes as water based as well. It's quite smelly so be prepared. Hope that helps. Cindy If you can't find it send me a DM through any of the Facebook groups and I can send you a picture. Cindy To find me in a group just search my name in the search window. 🤔

Hi Becky, I posted a quick little video yesterday with a picture of the paint.. if you missed it here is the name.. CIL platinum in black Onyx. I prefer eggshell but semi gloss works equally as well. Don't buy Midnight black..it doesn't work the same. Happy Easter to you and yours. Hope that helps. Cindy

Absolutely we can Jean.. I don't know how the pigments will hold up over time but I have pieces from a few years back that are just as vivid as the day I painted them. They are a good alternative to learn on without needing second job to buy supplies. 😀 Cindy
