    the spurs drafted David Robinson at no1 and Tim Duncan at No1. Without either, they win zero chips in that era, most likely. Did they make a good move getting Manu? Sure. Tony? Sure. But most teams did a hand full of good acquisations over time. But they didnt get lucky enough to draft top10 of all times players at no1.

Obviously NBA players will always be making a sh*t ton of money, but the younger guys got their cash flow messed up because of it too Crazy how hard they fumbled. I think this is a perfect medium. Player empowerment is something needed in this league. However, it has been left unchecked for years. This doesn’t stop players from walking out on a weak front office, but adds the needed risk and consequence. Teams aren’t going to be able to capitalize on a upset superstar like AD or Harden anymore. Free agency is the only way for for teams to pick these types of players up. Made much more difficult by the fact these players will have dozens of teams trying to pick them up rather than only a handful of teams. I can see the Grizzlies being a team to win a championship very soon. They are built fairly similar to the Nuggets and their top talents are all young home grown players.

    Honestly, I think it will result in smaller contracts for role players, which is probably the right way to go anyway. Teams are going to much more likely to let a mid-tier guy go if it helps them afford to keep their stars. And while I do think role players are important, they do get overpaid quite a bit sometimes. The true superstars are the ones selling tickets, they deserve to get paid. A mid-tier guy might be valuable on the court, but not as many people are coming to the games looking forward to seeing them play.

    What the new CBA does is force the front office of all teams to be strategic and sign players to their actual value vs what's been going on lately where some very average players get crazy contracts. Look at Tyrese Haliburton. He's played 191 out of 410 games. 17 ppg and 8 assists per game. Pretty good but max contract good? NO. He misses a lot of games and he's a 2nd tier player. The only season he's played over 60 games he averaged 15 and 8. Which is still good. But that's more likely to be his sustained production and no GM should be giving that 52 million per season. Think about it, he had one good season, a season where he played 55 games, averaged 20 and 10, and he got 50 million per over 5 yrs. That's insane. There are really only 15-20 guys in the league who are true star players who can change if a team can compete for a title. Take the Warriors. That's Steph's team and always has been. Klay and Dray are very good but not star players. The reason they won is they fit together so well and added other solid pieces is around them. The new CBA means a guy like Steph should be paid like the superstar player he is while Dray and Klay get paid like the 2nd tier players they are.

  • @jackfoudray

    @jackfoudray

    Ай бұрын

    @@roboninja3194 Geez. This was a misread from you haha. Tyrese jumped very high in production this season and played nearly 85% of the regular season, leading the Pacers to the 6th seed. He had an unfortunate injury that led him to miss some games and a pretty awful cold streak following All-Star break. Other than that, he had an excellent season, leading the league in assists on great efficiency (60% TS%). Tyrese is a bonified star and on a team like the Pacers, locking him up with a deserved contract was an amazing move by the front office. Klay and Draymond are definitely no longer stars. I'm not sure if you're saying they never were or they aren't anymore, but from 2015-2019 (and probably 2022), they were definitely all-stars, not just good role players for the team lol. At this point though, yes, they should not be getting paid like bonified all-stars. However, the new CBA makes it tough, because guys like Klay and Draymond aren't just getting paid their money because of their production, they're also getting paid because of the intangibles they bring to the team (still probably more than they should).

  • @RichFlemingRealtor
    @RichFlemingRealtor11 ай бұрын

    If guys want to get paid, more of them will have to go to small market teams. the structure truly will move towards 1 super max, 1 or 2 max and a bunch of role players. The players agreed to this, because it should help spread money among more players as oppsed to just the superstars.

    OKC got SGA who was top 5 in MVP votings along with being All NBA 1st team and was 2nd on MIP should've won it tho while he finished sixth in Clutchest player of the year too. Then JDub was All Rookie 1st team also a finalist for ROTY, Giddey made a huge leap in improving he was previous All Rookie 2nd team in 2021 plus they'll be getting back Chet this upcoming season who will give wemby a run for his money in winning that ROTY because we know how talented he is on both sides. They got an loaded amount of young assets to even a war chest of draft capital, OKC could basically trade for any disgruntled star/superstar they want or the Thunder could be patient and wait out how the rapid growth & development of the roster shapes into with the young core and deep depth in of role players they got on that bench the sky is really the limit for them. Only time will tell when that comes together cuz they've added another defensive stopper whose a combo guard in Wallace along with Lu Dort their main lockdown defender that trio of Cason, Holmgren and Dorture Chamber will cause a lot of havoc defensively. OKC is coming really 🔜 ⚡🆙

    This CBA is having a huge impact already... Didn't know the second apron had draft implications too. That is harsh. Another level to this layer cake. It is going to be wild. There are clearly sellers and buyers right now, but once this CBA is closer to implementation, the buyers will be less inclined to do so. This will hurt the rotation players the most. They will be seeing less money and shorter contracts as you cannot have a lot of money tied down to players that are injured often. Since you won't be able to be opportunistic with the second apron. I don't know if teams with lots of young talent are going to be benefitting from this either. At some point you will have to pay them too...

    Honestly this is great for the NBA, it seems like everyone is getting paid at least 25-30 million if you're decent and/or show potential. Im a fan of Herro and Poole but they do not deserve that much per year. I think this will severely hurt teams like the Hawks and Bucks in the next two years but will make the next seasons after that much more competitive

    I think teams like GSW needs to have some kind of exception... they drafted all their main trio... so it should be something like 80%reduction while calculating their salary for the danger level while paying them 100%of what they deserve.

    Mans said, “Players felt so entitled to get what they want. “ as if they’re not the people literally making the product. Then, “Don’t contracts mean anything? “ followed by, “Are these guys children? “ in a demeaning manner, as if team owners won’t trade away players in the sleaziest ways imaginable with little-to-no warning whatsoever, like children when they’re bored of their toys.

    Are 3rd party deals allowed in the NBA? It could be a loop hole for teams in larger markets to top up player contracts outside the NBA with different sponsorship deals.

    Brilliant. Not enough people understand how impactful the new CBA will be. It changes everything. That is one of the reasons this offseason has been so awesome, in a while this will not be possible anymore. Also max contracts are going to get lower and mid contracts are going to be hardest hit. Every team will stay below the 2nd apron within a few years.

    Rockets , thunder and Cavs have great teams built through traded and the draft and should rise next year. Mark my words . The spurs are also in a good position but don't expect contention without a blockbuster trade which is more likely to happen now bc teams will be desperate to offload talent to get under the cap.

    I want to see a commish who will drop the hammer of justice on the players: non guranteed contracts. But from one hand, it wont be fair to non star players, who are indeed working for their money, unlees the genuine hurt. But from the other hand it will prevent future players being slacking after they got paid.

    I like these changes. I think it's going to be good for the league overall, it's going to mean more balanced teams, a dissemination of talent throughout the league which means teams like the lakers won't dominate 90% of the public talking heads discourse and smart, organic teams like the original Warriors will be rewarded by virtue of not being punished.

    2:20 does that still apply if the pick was traded? Imagine trading for a reams pick years prior and it’s supposed to be a top 5 pick but falls to 30? That is punching other teams for a teams spending
