I wanted to watch this on Sunday but God meant for this message to be heard by me after the absolute insane day I've had today. Sometimes we lose sight. It's so easy to do.

That's awesome, Sheryl! I started reading the New International Version (NIV) which is a very good translation. Pastor Craig uses it often in his messages. There's a translation called The Message (MSG) that helps put the Bible into a more modern and understandable context that many people find very useful. Hope this helps!

This is such a great question. There are several good translations out there. The New International Version is a great translation which we frequently use in our services. If you do not have the YouVersion bible app already, check it out at www.bible.com or get it from your favorite appstore. It brings the bible and thousands of great devotional plans to your computer or mobile device.

Bibles are translations or paraphrases. The niv is the easiest reliable read since it's paraphrased. Good translations are RSV, ESV, NKJV. KJV is the hardest read but it's the version that has the thou shalts and thys. Although it's widely regarded as the most reliable translation. Nkjv (or New King James Version) is the same bible without the Olde English. My favorite translation from 1st to last is NKJV, ESV, RSV, honorable mention is NAV. (Btw ESV is super popular, it's just not as smooth as nkjv in my opinion) As far as a paraphrase i would tell you not to get any paraphrases other than NIV. In short I'd say choose between NKJV and NIV.

I would love to add. They wrote a name on a stone on the scapegoat and the sacrificed goat. The names they wrote on the stone was...Son of God... So one would be sacrificed...Son of God....the other would be left free to enter the desert with the name Son of God. Forward a couple thousand years.... Jesus is sacrificed on the cross He is known as ...Son of God.... Barrabus is set free...his name means ...Son of God. A foreshadow of the ultimate sacrifice. Also the Magi are persian...they are the same group that Daniel was in command of. The star is a prophecy out of the time of Daniel. The gentile is following a Hebrew prophecy and being introduced to the God who made it all. Because the Angels had to go proclaim the message to shephards...Hebrew church should have been expecting the birth of there King. They missed it. The shephards saw Jesus in the stable...refers to Joseph.... The wise men in the House. Gentiles met Jesus in the House, the question is whose house?
