I took a 17 year break from Warhammer and now I’m getting back into it I’m starting with black tempers
Never played a table top game or anything remotely close and have no idea about anything 40k but this dude is very entertaining and explains things great. Good job man!
I love how passionate Jay is about Black Templars and his army is beautifully painted. It's got me wanting to collect them now
You have to be the hardest working miniatures channel on KZread. Your content is always interesting and engaging and has inspired me to come back to the craft after many years away.

What Army are you collecting??

@@aussiesoldier0177 Hey Aussie Soldier. I'm from Brisbane. I also served in the army as an infantry rifleman and scout back in the 90's. Was part of the last class to train with SLR's. Had to qualify with Steyer's a couple months later. I am collecting a mixture of stuff. Flames of War cause I'm a WW2 buff. I've got some Warhammer. A Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunt Army Set. Also have Cursed City and Silver Tower. Plus I also have some huge Kickstarter lots I bought dirt cheap. I've slowly been accumulating paints and other stuff the last 6 months. Have everything I could need or want. I'm actually going to be starting my own channel very soon to chronicle my journey. Are you starting collecting?

Salute mate, I served in 6RAR in early 2000"s....... I've dabbled in 40k on and off for years, only ever painted before but want to get into the tabletop game. Last year I bought a heap of black templars and everything I need to get started again but then needed spinal surgery (med discharge related) and I've been struggling a bit so haven't wanted to do any hobbies.....I've picked it up again recently and am enjoying it.

@@aussiesoldier0177 Thanks for the reply. I was in 31 RAR. North Queensland. Sorry to hear about your back. My back is gone too. I have degenerative spinal disease and severe spinal stenosis. Had a Discectomy, laminectomy and spinal fusion with 2 fixators. That was 1997. Now my lumbar spine has collapsed. No feeling in left leg, very little on right. Can't walk more than 20 metres. Suffer severe chronic pain. That's why I took up the hobby again. I need something as a distraction. Just watching TV or reading doesn't help much but I find having to concentrate on something helps. My hands are really shaky so I do what I can. I'm learning how to use an airbrush as it's quite forgiving. I wish you the best man. Look after yourself. I love how enthusiastic and wholesome you are about your armies, you always have a fun story to go with them! Can't wait to see what Primaris Assault Squads will look like, they will be so badass for Black Templars.
This army is so awesome. The logical you came up with the yellowing shoulder pads is so simple but so effective in telling your models stories. Also I’d love to see a Centurion video they look so epic.
Very impressive. I have collected Black Templars since 3rd edition. I may have more models, but my paint job is not as impressive as yours. Models were cheaper in late 90's compared to current prices. I also have Necrons, Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle armies. I made 6' x 4' city called Aquilagrad as homecity for my BT and SOB armies. It was made from early cityfight buildings and Pegasus gothic building models (they happened to have "Maltan crosses" similar to BT cross).
What I think is really impressive and makes your army look scary is the fact their armor's covered in grime and dust yet they never needed to replace it so it implies your Templar don't get shot often. Also it does look great all of it and the idea of separate units having different scemes make sense especly since it's your army a sub faction of a larger faction.
Such passion! Such positivity! I'm not into Warhammer but watching your vids is always uplifting
I love your enthusiasm for this army and the joy with which it is presented! Really contagious!
Gotta love a collection that completely covers the table! I haven't played 40K in like 25 years. I've been playing Middle Earth SBG for awhile now and considering 40K with the new edition launch. Seeing your collection on the table really makes me want to pick up the Leviathan box and start building a massive Deathwatch army!
Yay! Jay, I'm so happy you finally made a video like this. I have been dying to see your Templars, and I'm so glad you're getting big sponsorships like with SquareSpace!
I absolutely love seeing how happy your Black Templars makes you!
Your changes to the centurions do make them look great! Would love to see how you did it!
I really love your enthusiasm and realness. Keep up the GREAT work.
"I've got a lot of bikes, 6".. **Looks at 3000 points of ravenwing**
Very cool looking Templars!! 👍 3:43 Thats why i choose Adeptus Sororitas! Just love them 🥰
The first time that a specific banner bearer appeared in a Space Marine army list would have been in the Codex Army Lists supplement included in the 2nd edition starter set and that was for a Company Standard, rather than an Ancient. In Rogue Trader the attitude was just "banners are cool, stick them on your models!" rather than them being specific models in the army lists.
I really like this episode, the passion and love you pour into your army Is inspiring
Looks great - A collection like that deserves to be completely mustered together now and again. I recently noticed the livery of Red Templars and I’m tempted to paint some up - similar markings, but with a bright garish main color.
I love every time you showcase your Black Templar.
Would love to see a vid on how you converted and painted your centurions and suppressors. Loved the vid you did on basing them on the pine chips, look amazing
Black Templars in the lore: _Basically the canonical Angry Marines_ This Black Templar enthusiast: _One jolly boi_
Awesome collection Jay and be proud that you didn't sell them I mean u put ur heart and soul into these guys, I mean selling them without the financial need is a betrayal to such an gorgeus army.
Omg bro of course you played the flute... Somehow you actually do a fantastic job (I expect unintentionally) of being ambiguously flamboyant. I really enjoy your videos my dude. Can't wait to have some painted stuff to show back.
Thank you Jay. Good form!
I love how you clarify painted models because I have around a 500 model 26000ish point black templars army. With imperial guard and knights as secondary armies.
Your Black Templar army looks great. Kick butt, on the table top.
Finally! A large army videa where we can see the individual pieces close up
Awesome army! Great job. Love the bases. How did you do them ? Thanks for all the content
Please do a video on how you made your centurions! I love how they look and would love to see all the conversion work done on them.
You playing flute makes so much sense
I honestly think you should do an episode of building 1 unit of any models for black templar and create them with the idea you have, with the tyranid trophies, with the skills and experience you have now, i think it would make a great episode and fun to watch!
Sniper scouts being one of you favourite units in your Black Templars army made me weep.
15:50 I mean in my opinion, aslong as you keep the shoulderpads and rim the same colour and the basing unified you can absolutely paint stuff in other colours and still have your army feel as one army.
😮😮😮Holy crap man that thumbnail is absolutely stonkin!! Sweet collection my guy. I wish I had a warhammer army. I’ve not even painted my first mini but I have a lot of experience with hasagawa kits and all types of gunpla. MA.k are my favorite kits though.
You can just FEEL the holy rage coming from that table. I feel sorry for the dude stuck in the gunship, hes up there flying with guns while all his brothers are down in the mud doing the Emperor's work with blade and fury.
Okay, i have to Comment on this xD thanks for making this Video! You made me get my butt up and motivate myself into finishing my Black Templar Army after roughly 15 years since i started collecting them. And i can easily field roughly 15000 points including the unfinished Warhound. I always pushed that project aside sadly, but now i really, really want to devote Time again to this and i hope to get atleast half of it done until the end of this year. I even did some really cool conversion for some units but never painted them properly, including a Badass stormlord super-heavy tank and a Emperors Champion Contemptor Dreadnought.
Glad we finally get to see the inside of the Dreadnought you mentioned in another video!
I just got back into the hobby after many years but always loved space marines. I picked up some sword brethren and wow are they challenging to paint, having a ton of fun and actually not doing as bad as I thought I’d do hahah
If you want to find a different painting project you should try the primarius eliminators. There’s so many cool ways your could paint up there power camo cloak.
Jay has a beautiful mind. That head canon story about video game power up deepstriking centurion suits for space marines in need is so super cool idea and kinda makes sense too! Not sure if that is backed up by lore in any way but I do not care. :D
An impressive army to see on the table! I started 40k as a Chaos player at the beginning of 4th Edition - inspired by the old metal Daemon Prince, which is still awesome. I too made my own colour scheme, but have since learned the lore and have steered more towards the Legions. I acquired a large Black Templars, I think, Battleforce that was from their original launch… my Games Workshop was auctioning off various things, and I always thought Black Templars looked cool! I have since increased my collection with the awesome Forge World Terminator Storm Shields for Templars, and their Forge World Venerable Dreadnought. That being said - most of my Templars remain unbuilt at this point… and seeing the fantastic Primaris updates together line, I’m not sure if I’ll have the drive to ever finish them now, unfortunately. I have Primaris Ultramarines on my painting desk, next to some older Ultramarines Tactical Squad, both based for City Fight terrain, which is quite close to basic flat bases. The Primaris look like real people in armour, which looks excellent… the tactical marines next to them look like tiny children, cosplaying as action figures. I think certain special characters may be worth re basing to make them appear taller, and likely they will look decent next to Primaris in the same army, but there’s a good chance the older models will eventually be phased out for me. That being said… your Primaris bases look awesome! It still has that Armageddon look of your others… I wouldn’t re-base them. Maybe dry brush the highlight colour from the other bases to more closely tie them together, but honestly, I think it looks great as is! I should find myself some cork to play around with - I’m sure it’s easier to work with than the slate I currently use for rocky bases, lol
Mark III + BT upgrade sprues (pre-primaris) made the best mini-marine BT's ever. Those helmets are just perfect.
Wouldn’t mind seeing how you altered the centurions as they look a lot better than untouched ones. When they first came out I was on the side of “cool weapons, but looks a little silly.” I’ve seen a few modded ones over the years and thought that it helped some.
Please do a video on the centurions. You make them look good, and I wanna see how
It's really cool how the space marines are in different stages of development like primaries and non primaris. It makes it seem like tons of new recruits have joined them in their crusade over the years
@mordredpendragon1235
Жыл бұрын
I know it's really cool
The Primaris models look really cool regardless of lore or whatever, the actual models have more features than the older ones.
There was a templar box back in the day they were very detailed and a good well priced box with multiple weapon choices. The generic tac squad was just that, great for ultras or to boost your force using the extra bits you use to get before workshop realised they can make a third of a box by selling the upgrade sprue.
Hey absolute newbie here never painted a mini before and I wanna start a black templer army because of this video and because of the cool lore thank you for the great video FOR THE EMPEROR!
title: "NO ONE has More BLACK TEMPLAR than Me!" 1 minute into the video: "some people have more black templar than me"...
I love the jousting lance/white paint combo on the suppressors, 10/10
Centurions are also my favorite Space marine models. I am only collecting Xenos armies so far (Tau, Orks, and the Army set for the Dwarves has been ordered and should arrive Thursday.) so i don't have any space marines, but i have been thinking about just buying one of the kits just to build and paint them and maybe put them in a display or something. might need a drop pod for that display too if i ever make it.
I love your black armour paint scheme! I want to do some 6th edition chaos warriors in that style!
I'd love to see you build/mod and paint up an old RT rhino in your BT scheme. Add to the mix of old and new with another old and distinctive vehicle! Maybe even an old Predator kit.
That's cool! I myself just started to paint my first army. I thought about black templars but landed on blood angels instead
Hey jay, I’m starting a black Templar army and I really like the way your primaris marines look. So could you do a tutorial maybe on how you go your primaris marines like that. Love the way they’re a little more grey and the Pauldrons aren’t fully white and more of an off white
I'm just now starting to finally get into the tabletop of 40k with some practice Blue boys i recently got for practice but I'm planning on my Black Templars being my first army, very awesome that as I'm getting into the hobby proper I find a youtuber with the same love for the Crusaders I'll surely have one day
Congratulations on the sponcer
5:35 purchased a sprue of the 5 jump packs from GW direct few months ago, so yea they still do.
The nerd is strong in this one. Love the passion you have for this army. Serious paint job.
The first chapter kit i ever got and will always be my favorite, especially the emperor’s champion!
A lack of Librarians is one of the main things that puts me off starting a Black Templars army.
I know it's not Black Templar, but several years back, I remember a White Dwarf article about a guy in Germany who painted up an entire chapter of Ultramarines...
That's a lot of minis. Great looking collection.
the moment he sad "looks like something from Halo" i started Halo 😆
Finally, I made it here. I am really excited because I had the same idea for a video. Show me your Templars! Challenge accepted buddy. The great Gilgamesch-Crusade can take it with your forces. I am only 2 years into the hobby so my Crusade is probably not as big as yours but it`s 90% Primaris Marines and I have a lot of tanks. Basically, together we could form the perfect Army of Black Templars. Also, I wanted to mention that my Army is not looking as great as yours.
That's a fine Crusade you have their, but my only grip is that it isn't codex "compliant" enough, better start recruiting for "future causalities".
With the Centurions, that's how I think of them! Drop pod the suits, jump in and kick arse 😂
Jaysus am I apparently emulating a younger Jay in WH40K hobby life at the moment. Starting with Necrons (though 9th edition), loving Terminators due to Space Hulk (though I have yet to obtain a single Terminator or a copy of Space Hulk), and I bought that Black Templar army set for ridiculously cheap...and now I want more Black Templars. Only huge differences is I'm way older than Jay (maybe) and definitely not as talented. but seeing some of your ideas for your models, especially your Suppressors. I hope to one day get that ingenious with design ideas. Jousting, of course. I freaking love this hobby.
It is a great honour to serve the Emperor, no matter how you do so. Only in death, does duty end.
Here’s hoping the new emperor’s champion will be added to this glorious collection. For the Emperor!
Awesome army, I have about 2k BT painted up myself! Gota add some chains to them
The Centurion is mad af ! Nice
You know stuff so I’m sure you know but back in my day when I started 40K we didn’t even have pill bases for the bikes. They were on the old Fantasy Calvary rectangular bases. And me and my friends would take slotted round bases, cut them on half and glue them to the ends of the rectangles to round them off and sand them flush. So for my generation the pill bases…we’re the upgrades. Haha!
I am working (slowly) on a 15,000 point Death Korps of Krieg army. It's not anywhere as beautiful as your paint job, since I use Army painter dip on the minis, but should the day come when we fight, our battle will be legendary!
The suppressor barrel reminds me of a candy cane 😅 Maybe I’m just hungry lol Great job as always!!
Pretty sure the cents are just tiny dreadnauts but the wearer isn't a cripple instead just having a mental battle with a crazy machine spirit
Now I need to see a video of jay recreating his rusty ultramarines (iv started an ultramarine chapter because of warhammer imperium)
Gonna be 100% homest Jay's black Templar scheme should be the official scheme cause the bone colored shoulders look so good and the red accents adds so much and stops the bland black to white colors the normal scheme is
I cannot wait to have my Night Lords army be of this size. They will be my life’s greatest achievement.
Do you have a video on how you adjusted your Centurions? Really like how they came out and would like to take some inspiration from your process.
That jousting lance in the supressors looks like chrstmas candy cane :D
There's not enough loopty-loops in the galaxy to outrun the glory of this crusade!
How does one choose an army to paint. I have spent the last month researching each army, I find myself being drawn to a bunch of different armies. I am new to the whole world thanks to a friend of mine. This is the hardest thing. Your minis are awesome.

1) coolness factor (most important actually, if you LOVE how they look and what they represent, and like most of their units and HQ options, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO, because strength of a faction will always go up and down as rules get released, DO NOT pick a faction because it is strong right NOW, this will change every few months) 2) color factor when thinking about painting, are they hard to paint? Maybe too hard because way more details? Or maybe even TOO EASY to paint and you get bored fast? 3) how popular are they? picking Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves or Ultramarines, gives you more options than a niche faction or a lesser known chapter from later on.. Has both positive and negatives, but I would suggest picking one that remains getting SUPPORT from GW. But it's also cool to have a faction or chapter/sub-faction, that almost nobody has. Weigh this out wisely. For example, stuff like Death Guard, Thousand Sons, World Eaters, right now get many models and support, while Emperor's children or let's say Iron Warriors, have like 1 or 2 unique models and MAYBE some upgrade kits or stuff like that. I think Night Lords are cool, but I don't want to buy hundreds of bucks worth of upgrade sets, just for some helmets and JUST TO HAVE a combat-ready army one day, if I can buy a box of plague marines and they are already 100% death guard looking. 4) playstyle (not rule and CURRENT strength, it doesn't make sense to start Tau if you love close combat and psykers, or want to play defensive with many big guns, but pick World eaters or Black Templars or Blood Angels ect. (it's all possible, but would be a bad choice, if you already know your style in advance) 5) Which factions do your friends or players near you have? It's cooler to start Tyranids when you friend plays Ultramarines, than to have Space Marines vs Space Marines all day. Or if he plays Necrons, getting Eldar might be cool. Or Black Templars ect. You can match up ALL FACTIONS and it you could make it make sense. Even imperium vs imperium (they also clash against eachother, example: Black Templars vs Inq, or Space Wolves vs Inquisition, I think you know what I mean :) Necrons fought other Necron dynasties, Eldar craftworlds might have a huge issue with eachother (this one is harder because they know how rare and endangered their species is, but even this happens), chaos entitities also fight eachother often, same for orks. And so on. So it's not really an ISSUE, but might be worth factoring this in. 6) lore, this is very close to point 1, but now think not about the coolness of the art and the models themselves, but the history of the faction, do you connect with the lore, the leaders of the faction, the hero's, the battles they had, their history ect. 7) Again, IGNORE THE CURRENT RULES. These will change DRASTICALLY. OF COURSE: But do not expect Blood Angels to become sneaky snipers or Tau to become chainsaw wielding berserkers. 8) F*** this list and just pick Black Templars, because FOR THE GOD EMPEROR AND THE REST IS DIRT THAT HAS TO BE PURGED. Which faction came to your mind in like "no but I like xxxxxxxx more" when you read "pick Black Templars" ? That's the one you should go for. :)
I’ve been considering printing a black Templar army. You might have made me reconsider
Id love to see a build video on those centurions.
Cool grey templars.
PLEASE do a video on painting the other three centurion that would be so cool! Didn't even know that they existed but I want some know.
Damn that's an awesome army.
Idk if this has been asked but is their a video about how you painted the centurions. I love them
No one has a bigger army? That's a pretty bold statement. Last time I counted my Black Templars points was around ten years ago. Around 16K then. Since then we've had a ton of new model releases. Primaris marines alone are probably around 2K. 😎
I've never played this game and I was recently just come across a few videos about it so I had to, naturally, buy a chaos Marine box. It's just the 10 Marines but I'm really interested in learning how to paint these and TBH, if I had friends, I'd play this game.
Jay is the fourth time you show black templars to class
I’m just getting into the warhammer table top and decided to build a black Templar army wish me luck
