Been playing DR since launch. The main things I think the map needed was more accessibility potentially even to one of the buildings via a super trample steam like call of the dead, hurtling players towards a large broken room but also containing pack a a punch. More wall weapons almost everywhere on the map especially in the lower areas would help for variability, as a more dangerous maze portion should contain some more power weapons as opposed to two doors from spawn having the PDW and SVU, the best weapons on the map with the AN being just a short trek away. Elevator keys being permanent would be excellent, though maybe it would be a bit too powerful so instead making them 2-3 uses with more keys scattered around? I have a lot of other ideas but I’ve always liked it the way it is, a bare bones, run down, shitty, and destroyed map which I’ve always admired as opposed to the polished and shining maps

I actually love the BoTD easter egg. Probably one of my favorites... is what I would say if it were on Bo3's engine. I genuinely think the community should work on modding that map onto Bo3 with only minor adjustments to the layout, and maybe a reduction to the amount of locations the pigeon can spawn. The pigeon should act more like the spark on DE and less like the wire on Moon.

Hot take: Monty is a metaphor for toxic publishing companies milking a franchise of all its creative juices. Hence: "Continuing the cycle was the safest way Monty knew to protect the multiverse."

There’s a lot to dislike about blood of the dead, without sounding too nitpicky here are some of my issues: Horribly placed fast travels on one of the most expansive maps. It takes forever to get where you need to go and I wish the map flowed a bit better. You don’t ever return to most of the new areas and it really goes to show that less is sometimes more. It’s also criminal that the Golden Gate Bridge is just straight up not even in the map Another annoying thing that ties into the poor map layout is roaming pack a punch. The pack a punch leaves every couple of rounds and there is no indication of where it is. There is no excuse for this as maps like DE, Voyage, and COTD give a clear indicator as to where the pack a punch will be. Having the game straight up not tell you where pap is, means you have to run around the entire map, on a map where getting where you need to go is such a pain A lot of the returning motd exclusive weapons are severally nerfed, and just not fun to use. It’s also incredibly annoying having only one equipment spot for your grenades, and your forced to get rid of your wraithfires or monkeys just to be able to do a majority of quests on the map Speaking of which, blood of the dead has the most obnoxious Easter eggs quest period. Super random and obscure steps meant to artificially drag on the ee hunt, repetitive steps, there’s over 40 fucking spawns for that bird which you have to repeat 3 times, MORSE CODE ON SOLO, I could go on. If you don’t give a shit about the Easter egg none of this matters, but it’s incredibly annoying and ruins a lot of the replay value for the map. It’s a shame because I think the last segment of the Easter egg with the mid game cutscenes is actually really good I think that BO4 perk and specialist mechanics, as well as BO4s incredibly fast respawn times just don’t mesh well at all with this map. The elixirs and generic perk machines feel horribly out of place, and makes me wish I could just play on the map with regular zombie mechanics. The dogs in this map are incredibly annoying, I seriously have no idea why they thought it would be a good idea to add them. Mob was one of the tightest maps and the fast respawns, and extremely powerful hell hounds make this map feel horrible to play. This last point is pretty subjective, and I know some will disagree, but I think blood of the dead (and the introduction of the blood vials as a focal point for the storyline in BO3) absolutely ruins the map lore of the original mob of the dead. It feels shoehorned in, in a sloppy attempt to connect it with the main story, and the over explanation of the mystery of the map, along with annoying retcons completely ruin the original lore of the map. Mob of the dead’s self contained story was so well done, and now it feels completely thrown in the garbage Anyways those are just my main issues, blood obviously has some positive things going for it. I think the visuals, and sound design are incredible. I think the writing for primis is some of the best we’ll ever get. Unfortunately, these aren’t enough to save the map for me. Sorry for the long ass response, but hopefully you can at least understand where some people are coming from in their distaste for this map Great video as always Johnny!

Here's my hot take- someone at Treyarch accidentally mixed up the maps that had the VR-11 and the Winter's Howl. Think about it- which WW makes more sense on a map taking inside the PENTAGON? Is it A) a weapon that freezes zombies, or B) one that turns zombies into CIA AGENTS? Conversely, which gun works better on a map in a FROZEN PART OF SIBERIA? Is it A) a weapon that freezes zombies, or B), a wonder weapon that turns zombies into CIA agents?

I like the weapon damage tier system for the factor that guns that usually would be really really bad can actually be decent if not good if you put the resources in it by upgrading via damage tiers and pap upgrades.

If people based there zns opinions after the map had been out for more than a year chances are they liked it. It was bad only at the start because of bugs and because not many people played zns after it it gets overlooked so yes I would say it’s the most underrated

it was bad at the start because the map as a whole pailed in compraison with Der Eisendrache, which set the bar very high. Every flaw ZnS was blown out of proportion because ZnS didn't live up to the community's hype and expectations. In reality ZnS is even better than DE in many aspects, and its one of the maps with most depth.

Just for such a brave hot take, I'd like to double down on the hot take. I would like to leave the hot take that Zetsubou no Shima is BO3 Zombies' best map.

The bo4 perk system fixed the old perk system by giving you jugg with 200 health, speed cola with modifier, 5-pap system 15k (not 50k) for double tap and 3 self revives for quick revive on top of being able to pick the extra perks you want. You didn't need perkaholic, but could use it if you earned one and be insanely OP. Dead of the Night is in my top 5. The Werewolf is easy to kill if you know what to do

Hot Take: BO2 Nuketown is actually very fun in a chaotic way. Its starts off like Nacht with no power/perks and you slowly get drip fed perks/PaP. Its even better when Jug is later (But not too late) to add to the mayhem. Then by round 20 its like a normal map, so really you're playing Nacht then a DLC WaW map without exiting the game. That might be weird, but its a nice change from the usual maps.

ZNS has always been my favorite map even over DE in the BO3 zombie era maps. The map just had so much to do from grinding for permanent perk slots to building the wonder weapons and skull, and even fighting the spider boss! Easily the best map ever IMO and I literally just redownloaded bo3 just to play this map lol

It will always be my favourite. Zetsubou, Voyage and Dead of the Night are the magnum opus’ of the creative artistic staff at Treyarch. And I will forever choose a creatively compelling map over a sterile (*cough Cold War cough*) “fun” (boring) map. Black Ops Four and Zetsubou have suffered the same fate. Parroted and fake opinions from idiots copying their favourite “influencers”. Literally being *influenced* to not think for themselves.

It’s funny that the most inventive maps are the ones the community lambast because they can’t deal with having to pay attention and not be set to run in circles for hours within five minutes.

I hated ZNS when it launched. Well hated is strong, but I quickly went back to DE. However, me and a friend just starting working back through all CoD Zombies EE's and we did ZNS tonight... and I actually really enjoyed it, fresh mindset - it's an awesome map

Honestly botd is one my favorite maps, of all time. Unpopular opinion but it's my opinion so take it as it is. New industry's(trap) & the lab for camping are the best high round strats on the map. I can make the argument with anyone about it being just as good of an experience as mob is. I've put some time into blood and really enjoy playing still to this day.

Hot take: voyage of despair was a fun, and a good map. It’s not shitty like most say

It’s good but I don’t enjoy the high rounds. Definitely an over hated map simply just because it had a glitchy launch

two things i dont agree with you here are DOTN regardless of if you like the map or not has one of the best maps lore ever, the maid ghost, the werewols and vampires and other creatures being misunderstood as ghost and curses but instead being created by the Prima Materia, the curse of the mansion, theres a lot to uncover in the map and Exctincion (wich i admitedly love) may not be endless, but all but one or 2 maps have a PERFECT challenge wich is always fun to complete and its replayability comes from the theet grind, the relics and dificulties & the diferent loadouts, but at the end of it, it all comes to whether you like the gamemode

ZNS is a very underrated map

My personal hot take is that Kino is hugely overrated and bordering on being a bad map. It steals Five and Ascensions thunder (literally in Ascensions case) with the novas and TGun. If it was a World at War map, it would probably be one of the worst maps in the series due to how barebones it would have been.

I have been saying the ray gun sucked for years. Mark 2 was great. Phd Flopper made the ray gun more usable but still just a crawler maker in the high rounds.

I never had BO4 crashes or problems, but I also didn’t sell out to the crappy PS4 version either, 😂! P.S. Die Rise FTW! They better give us Chronicles 2 in Cold War, if they wait til Vanguard, I quit…..

I don't think there is any bad Zombies map. Of course there are ones I don't like much, and some that are better than others, but none of them are bad(I can have fun on nearly every map besides a couple from WW2, and 1 from IW).

@@theunknown9098 Yes actually. Infection isn't that bad of a map If Exo-Zombies had some better gameplay mechanics it'd be a B tier map at least. The only part about the map I actually don't like us areas getting cut off, but any area is viable to survive in, so it's not a big deal. This isn't coming from nostalgia either. I just played Infection like 2 weeks ago.

If it is actually good, can someone help me do well on it on Xbox One? I am not able to kill those thrashers too well, and what is a reliable training area?

All of Black Ops 2s maps go from the worst maps we've seen in Zombies history to mediocre maps with failed concepts. People are just positive about the more mediocre maps because they were so used to playing the other trash we got plus the nostalgia people have ia clouding their judgement. The bank was kinda lit though.

I never understood the hate for dead of the night, it's mostly a great map, best of chaos imo Pros Easter egg: enjoyable, some tedious steps, but overall a fun time, definitely better than some OTHER bo4 EEs High Round: Rocket launcher spam and cool revolver Wonder Weapon: Best in bo4, lots of ammo, 4 different charged shots, all capable of killing more than a full hoard. Setting: also best in bo4, beautiful mansion surrounded by beautiful woods (excluding the cemetery's glitchy trees) Boss zombies: The werewolf is so much better than the blightfather, the blightfather ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! Theme: A mansion of mysteries and cryptids, combined with an occult ritual, simply cool Easter egg song: You can't tell me Mystery isn't a good song. Cons Boss zombies: The vampires ABSOLUTELY SUCK, but you can get a stake knife and launcher to better deal with them The Brigadier: I actually like the cast of DotN, except for this pompous idiot Set up: While easy if you know what you're doing, I hope you know like 50+ part spawns!

Tombstone in cold War is criminally underrated, it is ridiculously easy to revive yourself and keep 3 perks instead of the 1 or 2 with qr tier 5, plus if tombstone tier 5 was in die rise as who's who, die rise would be a much better map just like buried with vulture aid.

Oh yeah totally. Its not like I've ever gotten downed, used tombstone, only to spawn on the other side of the room i died in with a full hoard in it so i can be killed again in .75 seconds. Sometimes it can be good, but... Just get a self revive.

One of my hot takes is Cold War zombies would be better if treyarch would actually fix a bunch of sh** in the game. Like mule kick is completely broke. I can’t trust having it anymore. And half the outbreak crashes on a lot of people. It’s kicked me from the sever multiple times.

Extinction is better than most zombie iterations and people hated it because a. Zombies was fresher at the time and people weren’t ready for something different b. Kinda like a, it just wasn’t zombies c. Treyarch didn’t make it

Hot take: I actually quite enjoyed BO4 pap system as it added more usability to bad guns. I also think the 4 perk create a class system would’ve been better if there were map perk machines as well as the wonderfizzes.

10:25 jebliski comment. Cod zombies would be better off without bo3. Thinking about it, yes. Don’t get me wrong. Game was fun and storyline was great but. Imagine zombies. No super powers (gums), not having to level guns to make them good. No get out of jail free card with dg-2. None of that in future games.

10:25 BO3's feedback is the reason why Cold War is easy and mediocre. And why BO4 was easier. The community latched onto EEs and for whatever reason think that having to look up a guide for a half baked quest and story is good. This also breaded the notion that "Easy map with basic map design is good" as DE is quite basic map design with bootleg staffs that are easy to get, people love it for some god forsaken reason. Or people like GK despite it being the most mediocre nothing special about it map. All while just not mentioning how a map should be difficult with it's design. (Die Rise and Moon are some examples of maps that are hard by design.) And how we need to focus more on keeping the player engaged with small side quests and more enemies and more events in map. While I do agree that Mauer took a step in the right direction with this the Cold War engine ruins it though.

I hate the new zombies mechanics. They make the game feel so much less like a survival game and focus way too much on just grinding. In the majority of old games, Zombies was rather difficult and the higher into the rounds you got, the more difficult it felt. However, in cold war it feels the same. Not even the super sprinters can fix the issue when you have seven hundred health.

Zombies hasn't been good since BO3. That's my hot take

Thrashers are unkillable with fuckloads of HP in the high rounds, not going beyond round 100 is still a hassle. Plus, if no jug, with one swing of the thrasher, you’re done. Map is horrible, with no good training spots. Zetsubou is bad.

@Haziriya I'm gonna have to disagree with you one that one man, especially the training issue. With there's plenty of training spot as much as different ways to kill the Thrashers. Either it be training at the trial, plan trap, ect.
