Steph, I wanted you to know your channel has become my favorite! About 5 years ago my husband bought 2 big black urns for me. I searched in KZread "what to plant in urns" because I usually hadn't done container planting. Laura from Garden Answer popped up all over the place and I have watched every video she made since. Then I discovered your channel last year. I think it's because you live in Massachusetts like me, I find your channel much more relatable. I didn't know Vego had retractable hoses. I have a vego bed from them. humm! Love the color you picked. I agree with George, its better to drill on the concrete foundation. You both did great. 😊

I am an old school This Old House fan . And George could have been one of those carpenters /experts! Good Gravy , does anyone remember how BV used to take tools out of the carpenters hands 😂😂😂😂

I have a similar retractable hose and I can't live without it. While I won't be changing it up, I do think I like the Vego better as it comes in a longer length! Thanks for the detail on how you guys decided to mount these. Enjoy not having to wind up a hose manually any longer!!

I'm eventually getting one of these! My OCD would have kicked in and I would have found a metal shop to cut the post low enough so that it is not in view of the window. Nice installs otherwise!

These retractable hoses are wonderful, but ONLY if you have straight runs to the planting beds. A perennial garden like mine, has too many curves so the hoses would break the plants trying to get to them.

Same thing I thought for my own situation. Plus I’ve gotten used to the lightweight “magic” hoses..even if they don’t have a very long working life - the light weight difference is a total necessity for Me.

Love your channel. George does a great job explaining the process. He is a natural on camera.(despite the spill😂). I had a little trouble with my retractable hose that I installed low. I found it was harder to pull out since I was tending to pull up as I was standing. I ended up reinstalling it on a post that is higher which is what I did on my first hose install. Yours seems a little higher so you might not have the same issue. Retractable hoses are great. I have two and would love to get a third.

Last year I bought a Hoselink . I installed it using a one inch metal pipe which my husband cemented in the ground. He also installed another 1 inch pipe in the backyard, so I was wondering if you could check if the Vego hose will fit in the 1 inch pipe. So I can go ahead and buy a Vego one instead of another Hoselink. Thanks in advance.

Love it all except the post install should not been so close to the grout line which is usually weakest part of the tile. Your garden is lovely. 💐

Thank you so much! The patio isn't tiled, so there isn't any grout. It's stamped concrete.

The hose reals have really peaked my interest lately, these look like a great option. Tnanks for sharing. We need to replace some of our siding. Would you recommend the Hardy siding?

Hi Sally! We've been pleased with our Hardy siding. Its 14 years old now and holding up well. We purchased the pre colored siding in the color Khaki. The color has begun to fade some, but its expected at this point and we get lots of sun. The color was rated to last approximately 15 years before maintenance might be needed, and we're getting there. Athough we're trying to hold out on painting until at least 20 years lol. Our garden shed is vinyl siding and that has also begun to fade and that is only 10 years old. I think this is true for any kind of siding that's out in the sun and elements. Hope this helps. The hose reel is really helpful and makes for easy hose cleanup! Thank you so much for watching.

Hi there! so far so good. I've had it installed for 2 weeks, and it retracts really well, and the flow and pressure of the water is good also.
