We've been running the tiny home and the outdoor toilet on garden hoses for long enough, it's time to get some proper pipes running and hopefully bulletproof things for the frigid winter ahead.

Glad you enjoy them! I've got a lot to build out here, so they're going to keep on coming!
As a Minnesotan who has spent time owning a trailer house, I can tell you that you will need more to keep those above ground pipes from freezing in the winter than just heat tape and the pipe wrap. You should now build a treated wood box around all the exposed water lines, about 1ft in all directions around it, and fill it with fiberglass insulation like goes in your walls. The way you have it will likely still freeze when it stays below freezing for months.

Good Job Brian!!!! You gotta be proud of what you have accomplished up there...., Sure does not look easy to build a livable set up in the Snow, but I think you have done it! Congrats!

This video reminds of what we had to do a couple weeks ago Our old 20yr water line was PVC that runs through the woods. Well finally it got a rack from a tree root….. where we had no idea I searched for two days. Luckily my neighbor has a grading service and we ended up installing Pex Line right at 1,000 feet of it 😳😳 We added a tracer line with it so for future issues we can find it No water for 4 days during the whole ordeal. All is good now

I’m a plumber we use pex on entire houses and have to say the stuff is pretty great. Expansion pex is really good and seems too hold up better than conventional metal pipes in frost from what I’ve seen

17º, that's cute! (We hit 2ºf last week in Durango). In all seriousness, it's important to manage the water system in a freezing climate. Great work! I'm 100% convinced you killed the frogs.

Van question. Please help. Im thinking of purchasing a van the same color and size as yours. If you could do it again would you go with the 159 wb instead of the 136 wb promaster? Does the van heat up more in the summer due to being grey vs white?
@bkxc

Nope! I really like having the shorter wheelbase and being able to park in any kind of parking spot. I don't know if the van heats up more with the gray color, but I just hate the white color

Any reason not to seal that well house off real good and stick a space heater in there? Edit: you can borrow my tractor next time you need to spread gravel. I'm only 2500 miles away - LOL! Just found your stuff through the reading mean comments video.

Well house is pretty decently sealed up! The space heater would probably take quite a lot of juice. So far we're doing good with the "heat tape" stuff. But I am vigilant to keep making it work!!

I think I should have gone over the well house situation a little better, because it has been really, really solid as long as I have power. We've had 19 degree nights and the well house only dips down to 42 degrees because I have the heat tape. It's insulated pretty good, but I can always make it better!
