I wouldn't normally call out a 0 intervention drive when I make cuts, so I did put the uncut video here on X if you want proof that the car didn't need any help: twitter.com/DirtyTesLa/status/1778259057926717643 What do you think about this for future videos? As the car gets better, more and more of the video will be just the car driving normally. It could save time and make it more entertaining if I cut it up, and offer the full video elsewhere for those that want it.

I think your audience trusts that you would show footage of any mistake the car might make including an intervention. Cutting or 32x speed the boring stuff is the answer

There should have been an intervention at 3:08 - if the car is that slow at turning right at a stop sign it is not human like. Please report so they can fix. 0 intervention is hurting more than helping.

I prefer the fast-forwarding. Long-time viewer, but my first instinct is still to be suspicious when I see cuts. I think for new viewers the fast-forward feels more trustworthy. Even with the full vid somewhere else (I'm not going to check). FF also gives a nicer viewing experience imo. Smoother transition, and sometimes a nice change of pace.

6:30 V12 was the first and only version that was ever able to get me home correctly. Every prior version would take me on a maze and purposefully avoid the easiest route to get to my house 😂 V12 just looks at the map, thinks about it, does a few swerves, and then says F it I'm taking you home!

  • @homosapien6031

    @homosapien6031

Near my house, the map’s routing isn’t great. Instead of taking the quicker, easier route, without an extremely sharp turn and pretty close to instantaneous increase in elevation (which could lead to the road scratching the car’s bottom), It takes the longer, more difficult route with the sharp turn. And a blind spot too. The difference in time is pretty negligible, so that might be why. But still, to a human, it’s obvious. Even then… it’s finally pretty usable here (I live in the suburbs of NYC) True 0-disengagement drives happen here now, though they’re rare. But usually it’s only 1 disengagement.

The nags seem incredulous in this version. Currently I'm on 12.3.3. and went from NYC to DC and back with two nags total the entire 475 miles. I had on sunglasses and my hand on the wheel while looking forward but was just blown away that I literally had to just make acknowledgements one time there and one time back. The only disengagement I had was the red hands for a system failure which rebooted itself and then let me re-engage. I still say 12.3 was the best version of the bunch and 12.3.3 and me got off to a real rocky start but it's really surprised me and even the wife commented on how good it was. Really hoping the new releases keep getting better and better

Where we lived, there was a 4 leaf clover and my buddy took one of the exits when we were exiting the highway. I told him "I bet you couldn't do that 100 times" That's all he needed to hear, and 2 1/2 hours later we finished the 100 loops....lol We used to top out on the highway at 80 mi/hr, and then we would open the doors, like an air brake, to see how much it would slow down. We could slow it down by about 5 miles/hr. I miss those days....

Yes, phantom dry wipes are an issue again in cloud covered late afternoon daylight light. I’ve also noticed if the Auto speed is too slow, you can press the accelerator up to the speed you want to go and it seems to maintain it. perhaps that is a live learning function. I have not done repeated drives over the same route to see if it remembers the speed I used though.

Not only that, a pedestrian was making his way across the road in the cross walk in the direction I was turning. I got through it without anything more than humiliation but I sure wish I had FSD in that moment, driving for me when I was obviously not at my best as a human driver.

I think I know why your car is timid at that one intersection. It thinks there is no stop on the cross traffic because the stop signs don't have the "All Ways" subsign on them. I think the car keys off that subsign unless map data is telling it otherwise. You may want to look at the map when you get to that intersection and see if it shows it as a four way stop.

I've been trying to figure out how Auto Speed Offset works. Still not 100% certain, but it appears that it uses vector data from surrounding cars. This includes cars coming from the opposite direction or driving in-front, behind and beside you. If there are no surrounding cars, it maintains the previous speed, regardless if that speed is lower or faster than the new speed limit. I've also noticed it will adjust the set speed based on width of road and number or curves, possibly using map data. Regardless, still needs some work, and I've kept it off and still prefer the 8% offset I have set!

looking forward to trying it. 12.3.3 has two easy turns near my home it can't handle for some reason. A right turn lan it will ride the car on top of the white line for a bit before getting over. And a two lame left turn only it wobbles between the two and won't pick one also if you turn it on on the inside left it will try to turn left into the outside lane even though it is merging on to highway on left

When it can determine that there is a closed road it is on in traffic such as a car accident. Turn itself around as instructed by an officer or other traffic controller. Then and only then can it take the grain of rice from my hand. I love my FSD but self driving is a different system and can be a great aid to driving. Taxi isnt even in the relm unless the enviromental controls are in place. I cant wait to see how they begin to solve these issues. Mean while I want my absolute speed control back i had in version 11.

When I see your videos it seems like a quiet drive in the empty countryside compared to my area.

3:43 100% That is my experience with the free trial of FSD Supervised. For me, the most annoying thing about using FSD is when it approaches a stop sign/traffic light. It slows down too soon compared to most drivers and anyone behind me is surprised that I'm stopping so soon. They often go around me at the next opportunity because they don't like following a car that is too cautious and too indecisive as if your great-grandmother who can barely see over the steering wheel is driving. While it may be cool that FSD can do all these things, supervising a car that often annoys drivers around you is stressful and not a pleasant experience. I turned off FSD and went back to TACC/AutoSteer AutoPilot after 3 days of trying it. Kudos to Tesla, however, for letting Tesla owners take it for a spin. I will say that if Tesla were to cut the cost of FSD in half (6K/$99-mo), I would seriously consider it as a nice convenience feature.

I use FSD daily, however, I’m not liking the behavior of auto speed. It excessively exceeds posted speeds more then I’m comfortable with. In particular slower, 25 mph residential streets it’ll hit like 37 miles an hour, which is crazy way too fast.

That happens to me all the time when I drive. I like to stop farther back so I can see the light comfortably. Another issue I experienced is at least some sensors don't notice mopeds, so if they are first, we are all screwed. These light should be at least clearly marked, because now I'm just guessing by the fact that they never turn green.

I have FSD Supervised 12.3.4 in a 2020 Model X Performance and I use regen to slow the vehicle down because it's smooth, gentle, and I can gauge how much more distance I need using this method most of the time. This FSD seems to use 100% brakes, uses it about a second later than I would, and comes off as pretty uncomfortable. I hope one day they incorporate regen braking into FSD Supervised because this is my only complaint at this point.

@@DirtyTesla I ran an errand and fired up FSD. I got 2024.3.15 last night and it is supposed to include 12.3.4, but in the app it shows 2024.3.15 but also says V11.1 before 2024.3.15 so I am not sure what I have. That said, it didn't do well as it went 7-8 mph under the limit on the road just outside our development and when it got to an intersection where nav required a left turn, it wavered back and forth as to which lane to go into. When it seemed to decide to head for the right turn lane, I took over.

First of all great video I’m not a fan of FSD. I’ve been a big fan of Tesla for a while. That being said it is still really awesome to check out these videos but I’m more of the type of person that I really want to drive the car. But I can understand the convenience of having full self driving so it does make sense and I can understand the need to want to cut down on driver for fatigue for long distance drives so again it doesn’t make sense. That being said I do want to ask you if you can post that other self driving video I know you said it was a little bit older, but I would really like to see it. Keep up the great work and I’ll catch you on the next one have a good one.

You are doing a great job, enjoy your vids. But the map isn’t as valuable to the viewer as the “all cameras” view that some other channels set their screen to. It shows the kerb closeness and road edge and obstacle clearance distance. Your top wide camera is useful but would be even better with all cams showing. Just a suggestion. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't had too much good experience with FSD. The care took itself out of FSD when it hit a road with no lines. Then on the way to work it overshot the driveway and turned late and I had to stop it from running into the curb. And it likes to change lanes and follow cars when there is a clear lane ahead of it. this baffles me.

If you have time, going east on US12 (at briewood ford) with route planned out to goto say fedex (north on state street) shipping depot v12 should do what v11 did and that is goto far left lane, on green make the turn left and stay in the lane that goes stright. What I'm seeing is v12 wants to be in far left lane then when I disengage it and put KARR into far left lane v12 will turn left but them drift/merge into the right lane, not good idea when car in right lane wanting to turn right instead has to deal with tesla that is in it's lane.
