    My barber is one of the best and been cutting my hair for over 20 years. He’s old school and doesn’t do guidelines. To him it’s like cheating and being lazy. He’s a true master at this craft. I can tell you got some skills too the way you cut and explain. You’ve been trained well and have experience and knowledge. Props to you💯

    I had an older mexican gentleman barber fade me up a couple times right before he retired and it was clean but you could still barely see his guide marks..looked like tetris or like he was following a grid. Interesting technique.

    Grandfather owned a shop for 25 years. Taught me how to blend without guidelines using the Oster Classic 76. Never needed guidelines after learning with those clippers, taught me crazy feel with the 76.

  • @DavidOrtiz-nh5ce
    @DavidOrtiz-nh5ce5 жыл бұрын

    Guidelines is like a puzzle. You have to cut hair along a line at the same length and then blend into the guard size higher or lower than that one. The key is to blend all the lines evenly and smoothly. The reason guidelines works so well is that it gives the barber a chance to check his/her work and ensure the transition is smooth. Now,some barbers can do what this man does and it works for him. Ultimately though the client is the one who should decide what he likes. On self cuts, I use guidelines all the time because it helps me blend both sides of my head evenly. Thanks for the video !

    Great video man! I'll have to give no guidelines a try. If you like the detailers and wahl, try out the cordless detailers. They got a lot of flack after they came out, but I ordered some up and absolutely love them. Much easier to use than my corded ones and much cleaner lines. My only complaint about them is they are a bit noisy.

    Kann, Thank you so much for this video. Im two months into cutting hair and I love it, but I am having a hard time learning how to fade. I've been using the guideline method, but for some reason, my blends end up patchy. I have tried the no guideline method once before and it worked better for me than the guideline method. How did you learn the no guidelines method? Have you ever used the guideline method? Did it take long for you to master fading? I really need some inspiration from someone like you. Guidelines or not, its the same amount of time. Also, your method of blending does not give room for flicking out unless its near the crown, causing you to blend in 1/4th of a guard increments in the majority of the blend. Whereas with guidelines, you have better flick-out room so you can still pull out a clean fade and save time by blending in 1/2 or 1/3rd of guard increments. Jorge zepeda is a good example

    When he used a 1/2 guard, the equivalent Oster blade is #1. For a 1 guard, the equivalent Oster blade is #1 1/2. A 1 1/2 guard is close to a #2 blade. For the #2 guard, the equivalent Oster blade is #3 1/2. If you did this haircut with 76’s, you’d use a 3 1/2 all the way up on the sides and work your way down to a 000 blade. Fanning or rotating the blades with your wrist is key in removing lines - I have had to stretch the skin with one hand while blending. You can clean up lines between the 000 and 1 blade with a Wahl clipper that has a lever. Hope this helps 😊

    it always blows my mind that barbers work from the bottom up instead of from the top down to do your fades.

    Trip look at guidelines like those street reflector bumps or drunk bumps ... they help keep u alert, on path and with long lines of customers waiting. 4get this guideline stuff n get paid. I listened to dude here ... and can now do some hard fades even faded ... capitalize swiftly n get paid.

    The guard is the 1 1/2 guard but you can do a proper fade with only the 0, 1 and 2 guards if you use the lever to blend between open to closed

    Its his head shape and the way his hair texture stands up if it were thicker and layed down it would look better or if his hair was shorter

    Whenever i go from no guard closed to open it never puts a line in, like there isn't enough difference to leave a line

    Just curious as to why you don't use the 3 and 4 guards to blend into the top which a a 5 guard. Any particular reason?

    Kris Klekosky hey brother! Because i was able to blend it out with the number 2 guard. Sometimes if you’re able to flick with the wrist you can blend it out and get away with not using the higher guards. I hope that helps bro, hope it was clear
