last time i checked, a 12v solar panel and a 12v water pump involve... ELECTRICITY. whereas a thermosiphon doesnt even need the pump...

If You measure increase in temperature (change in Temp./change in Time) of the coil and water (without running pump) and divide by surface area covered by the coil, You will estimate the power of the sun. For calculation You have to use specific heat of water and material of the coil and their masses e.g.: Water = mass kg * 4190 J/oC.kg Steel = mass kg * 460 J/oC.kg Power of the sun = water + steel (J/oC) * d temp./d time (oC/s)/area (m2) = W/m2 plus heat losses from 30 to 60 W/m2. When You estimate the sun power You will be able to count amount of water heated from 1m2 of colector surface. The efficacy is from 50 till 80%. For 100 L of water 100 L * 4190 J/oC.kg * 50 oC = 20 950 000 J / 3600 s = 5819 Wh or 5.8 kWh If the sun power is 340 W/m2 then You need 5819Wh/340W/m2=16.6h from 1m2 of area.

Very good idea. The pipes in the water tank should have different lengths. The longer one should pump the colder water up from below.

Hey , if u have less sun u can make the tray boxy , use mirrors on the sides and use Fresnel lens from an old projection TV on the top (toward the sun ) !

If you raise the water tank above the coil the water will thermosyphon with no need for the pump.

You make pipe colour black increase more heat

What's the purpose of colouring the base tin plate in black, isn't keeping it as it is will help in generating more heat ???

تانبے والا پائپ اتنی لمبائی میں بہت ہی مہنگا ہے۔ آپ نے بتایا ہے کہ یہ ہائیڈرالک والا پائپ ہے۔ بتانا پسند کریں گے کہ یہ پائپ کہاں سے مل سکے گا۔ پراجیکٹ بہت ہی پریکٹیکل اور سستا لگا۔ جزاک اللہ خیر۔ ویسے کیا ہی مناسب ہوتا کہ پینل کے کناروں پر سلکون لگا کر انسولیٹ کردیتے اس کی وجہ سے پینل کے اندر جمع ہونے والی حرارت ضائع نہیں ہوگی۔ اس کے علاوہ پائپ کے گچھے کے نیچے اسٹائروپور کی موٹی شیٹ بھی لگانا بھی بہت فائدہ مند ثابت ہوگا، حرارت کے ضائع کیے بغیر ۔

@@desiideascreativity But you could actually turn this into a passive system, if you put the heat collector below the water tank. It would work by convection. The spiral shape of the tube is not the best for that, but it could work.

Not everyone can afford solar water heater that is so expensive but the setup he made was so cheap and convenient and everyone can make it himself

In my country we use black water tanks so the sun warms the water in the tank. We get really hot water and stays warm over night.

I used a hose pipe shower when staying in a Gite in rural France (summer time stay) which had a long hose pipe draped over the roof with a valve at the shower end. The water in the pipe supplied enough hot water for a short/quick shower, then leave again to heat in the sun for x amount of time then ready for the next user.

It can work but with pvc tank and sunlight. Do not compare 100% same hot water as in gas/electricity burners.
