17’ CHARGER / FIXED the NO BUS issues after watching your videos!!! I unplugged, one at a time, the BUS connections until I found out the POWER STEERING BUS connection was bringing the whole system down. Removed the passenger side front wheel / inner fender liner, found the electronic power steering rack, and discovered that the connectors going from the harness to the power steering were not sealed, and became corroded. I cut the old connectors off, and stripped the wires back slightly until I had clean copper, Installed the new connectors, plugged them together, marine grade siliconed both ends, then wrapped everything with several layers of Super 33 electrical tape, ensuring water would never compromise this connection again. Worked like a champ and have had ZERO bus issues after that.💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 It was NOT the shifter

First video I've come across that goes beyond showing a star connector somewhere in the dash. Very useful when trying to understand the challenges of possibly installing a CAN bus immobilizer like the Igla. Thanks for this.

I have the exact same problem today, I just got to the connectors, you have an excellent video, I spend like 2 hours to get to that point but I had to figure it out to understand the connectors, thank you

I feel your pain on this one. For a year on n off I have racked my brain over the BCM on my charger … so many little things that can make these modules stop working and when they do , the whole car goes down.

Thank you! Learned alot. Did not know about this. My dash on my 12' Challenger rt wouldn't show my speed, what position I was in. Ran from the obd port showing all the busses offline. I didn't know something like a shifter could do this. Second time where it acted weird when using the "manual" mode on the automatic, but this lasttime I was locking in the same gear I was last it. One point it didn't read my key. So Im thinking and will test the shift unit. Thanks again for the knowledge.

Hi! Just ran across your channel and watched a few of your videos and I’m impressed! I’m praying you can help with a problem I’m having with my 2016 Dodge Charger RT. I was at a traffic light, I hit the gas when the light turned green, heard a loud thump and car wouldn’t go, the light that shows what gear it’s on was blinking, we tried putting it on park and drive and neutral but lights were just blinking, we tried to shut off the car and nothing! my bf messed with the gear shifter and even went under the car and finally got it to shut off and we towed it home. It seems like the gear is stuck in neutral bcuz the car rolls when it’s off, the car turns on but it won’t go, it doesn’t recognize the gears. I had all the bootleg “family mechanics” come look and they can’t figure it out. I had the gearshift cable replaced and that wasn’t the issue, just today I replaced the actual gear shifter and that didn’t work, I was thinking it might be the TCM but I give up, I was trying to avoid towing it to the dealership but i don’t think I have a choice now. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼

I'm happy I found your video... have 2012 charger with all lights on dash losing communication etc... your video helped me look at it differently and feel confident I'll find the issue... I have spent quite a bit and none have diagnosed but this will help me try to figure out what module is causing it. Do you know where the start connectors are for 2012 dodge charger 6 cylinder? I have a 2014 challenger SXT. I’m having a issue starting the car back up. It not turning over at all. Long story short got a new battery and Now I can’t even get it to turn over at all. Dash lights won’t come on, can’t get push start or key fob inserted to turn it on. I thought maybe key fob batteries were dead but I replaced them. Still car won’t recognize it. Can’t unlock or lock car with fob. I can unlock and lock doors by door buttons. I get headlights and tail lights on but nothing else will turn on. Car worked just fine prior to all this. Never had any problems. I checked all fuses under hood and in trunk.Still wont even turn dash lights on. -SUBSCRIBED-

I felt the same way when I solved my B212D-13 issue after a dead battery and Amp/Pac Audio module install. # I broke a wire when I put the battery in..... :)

Incase anyone is wondering, total circuit resistance is supposed to be 60ish ohms depending on the modules, and 2.5v of reference voltage on can C and can IHS.

I spilled coffee on my window switch no big deal right ? Well omg tw weeks later car was crazy trans going into limp mode unlocking locking sunroof opening trunk popping alarm no start Mygig Nav not responding you name it . Replaced the passenger door window switch all fixed :) dealership had it in 5 times thankfully a jeep GC had the same problem in the shop and the service manager replaced the switch on a guess and then told me about what he found when I was changing oil and I bought the switch and replaced it myself while they did my oil . Omg we were all jumping up laughing and also pissed off at Chrysler why why why is the window module on the Can bus and not on a separate Can net . Good find sir . This was back in 07 on my 08 Avenger RT so they have made changes to the Can Bus but not enough yet imo

Your good. My shifter button was kept taped so gears could be changed fast. I left the driveway one day, turned around and it went brick 2017 charger rt. May be the trans module-U0001 and U0100. Red light blinking, gages rotate but no crank, no fuel injecting, no spark. Thanks

Hello mr jt sir new subscriber here i have a problem with 2018 ram 3500 diesel no power to dash no start no mileage when you open the doors no communication and all modules are off line the only one on is the radio any ideas sir.thanks

I am currently having this problem too the only difference is that my AC and all my power turns on when it wants to sometimes it flickers sometimes it stays on automatically, and the battery has to remain unhooked for this reason… I’m thinking is the BCM but I’m not sure

Hey Bro. Quick question. Is it possible to set the timing on the Pentastar 3.2 V6 without removing the timing cover? Please say yes! I changed the valve seals on the right side. I didn't do anything to the left side.

Im assuming you mean the valve steam oil seals? curious, why???. But yes, because there is no timing marks on the crank, we tend to use the other side bank timing marks up. Also you can just simply bring #1 piston up to dtc and time it from there. Also are you subscribed to the channel?

More modules means more high speed lines which means more potential problems😬one module affects all modules bc they're all linked together🤦‍♂️imagine a car with 80 modules or more(Benz)🥵...Nice diag tho👌

This not a scan tool but a dealer interface wipod dongle. You can't get that.

@@raheemtucker9722 That is the PEM module, and yes, it takes a special tool to get into that module. You may need to get a dealer to scan/diagnose it

@@mariosanchez2143 Hey my friend, theres only a few things you can actually check but without a good scan tool theres only so much you can do. I would verify that the battery fully charged and the cennection to the battery real nice and tight. Other than than a diagnostic needs to be done using a good scan tool

Hey I have a 2016 dodge charger pursuit 5.7L that will not crank or buss nothing at all just all my lights on the dash. I took it to the dealership and they said when they have their computer hooked up to the car shows nothing responding no ecu, tcm, ect nothing at all when they tried to start my car and I bought a brand new ecu still nothing. My question is could the star connector be the reason why my dodge charger wont start and none of my modules and computers in the entire car wont respond when i try to start my car?

Yes the star connectors could be the reason, but so could a number of other things. The car has to be diagnosed, not guessed at. What codes did you get? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

Yo that's a good good good video and I'm subscribed my man. I'm a locksmith in North iraq, i need a little help from you my friend. Dodge charger v8 AKL all key lost situations. I need to read the 5 digit code to program the key, but the RFHUB is locked. And i don't wanna replace the model any tips please?

@@OnlineMechanicTipsUnion City Dodge quoted me $1,450 to replace my RF Hub & Win Module. Soon as I told them I'm towing my vehicle to another dealership shortly after my vehicle was running and the technician said it was just a fuse that blown. SMH dealerships are rip-offs

@@yamayamz590 I'm definitely not a mechanic but if I was you I would do a ton of research. It could be something that doesn't require replacing the entire unite. The dealership rather replace the entire unite and charge you a $^%=#÷@ ton.

I have a 2009 Chrysler 300c with I believe to be the same problem got a new win module and two keys dash cluster gets no power when turning the key only headlights and interior lights work gonna try to look for this maybe this is my problem had a diagnostic and everything was getting power they didn’t check the rf hub if there is one subscribing now !!! @@TayGotsCadillacs No RF hub on a 2009. You need to get this car diagnosed at a dealership where they use the best tools. The stuff you talking about you can not do on your own.. You need dealer scan tools to replace a win module or a rf hub

My friend this a little bit more complicated. First you have to find out if this your problem., These are modules we talking about. Without scan tools you have no way to enable them. This video makes it look easy because im at a dealer. You need to find out what exactly is your problem first then determine if you can do it on your own

@@OnlineMechanicTips where can I get a scan tool I went in my trunk and pulled each cord 1 by 1 I pulled the last one everything came on I was able to roll my windows back up and my windshield wipers came on I took my gear shifter out it was wet in there like something had wasted in it

Now im not asking for you to save my ass, but i have like 12 videos of yours saved and im running my own diagnostics So it looks like it's time to watch a good chunk of your videos, my 14 charger is straight from the police auction and they hacked the heck out of the wires. I have a new tipm coming, sourcing a new engine wire harness. Good news i kinda know what im doing... Bad: Im stuck doing diagnostics at 1am when its 99F out, but i have almost all interior working, the battery was dead, have persistent dtcs, resetting the system did nothing, locks work, windows on passenger are dead, wants to verify vin but never does, no crank no start. Even have the door dinger functioning. I have ordered a tipm because there was a hole burned through to top of the middle of the relay cover. Im stuck going to a pick a part and hoping the parts work or that i can fix it

Hi, I have a 2017 dodge challenger sxt plus. I bought used with 35,000 miles. Car had a slow oil leak, and I got that fixed right away. Car was hit right front side by right headlight afew years ago, 1,000 bucks to fix minor damage. Car ran perfectly for me. I put 600 miles on Car and it's at my mechanic. One morning I pushed the start button, I click and check engine light came on. Car then turned over and ran fine. End of work , later that day about 8 hours later, Car was dead. Lights kinda came on, Car tried to turn over. I got an error message that I have a power steering failure. Car turned over and ran perfectly so I could get my car to the mechanic. Something has failed inside the car, causing a voltage drain to keep killing the battery. My mechanic has all my trunk fuses out, trying to diagnose where the short, power drain is coming from. I know he's frustrated as he has had Car for 4 weeks. He's small garage afew guys, so they can look at it when they can. Please any insight. I want to call my mechanic everyday for updates, but I know I have to be patient. I miss my car so badly it hurts. When I'm in this car I feel happy and nothing can bother me. It's now been taken away and it just is upsetting that it's taking so long. Any ideas, advice? Radio worked fine Power steering worked fine Windows worked fine, no ghost windows stuff happening, Brand new battery All a sudden I have this voltage draw killing the battery that wasn't there before.

@Online Mechanic Tips I am subscribed to the channel. Basically, last week he told me something after the fuses from the trunk that goes to and controls lots of things in the car is what went bad. One of the 100 things went bad and he has to sort out and find the module or whatever went bad. I have no idea what equipment he has. He's a small town mechanic but he's a good mechanic. I'm just surprised it's taking so long. However, he said finding the short or voltage draw can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

@@moneytrain731 Its hard to say, you could very well have something on the bus causing problem.. imo, the dealer would be well fit to track down such problems just because of the scan tools they use.

You work for a car manufacturer that has a lot of electronics issues.

It's a computer now and that shifter module probably has a dead short taking everything with it. I have no clue if my midrange Autel could do that or not but it sees all the modules on my 06 Charger RT and was telling me what firmware they had and a lot of info. If you don't have a fairly decent scan tool, plus know where to look your going to be screwed trying to fix it. I build my own computers and home network so know a bit about how they work but that is pretty deep into the system to figure it out. Good on ya for having a clue and the experience to know where to start. I used to repair TVs too and certainly had those moments where I had a clue where to look and found some crazy minor part killing the whole set. I had spare known good parts for my favorite sets to check with and repair them. Feels good when you bring something back that dead. 👍
