NMIXX feels very opt-in in the sense that their music doesn't seem to be created for any particular audience. Instead their music gives off this "we don't play by the rules" vibe. If you like it, great. If you don't, oh well. Refreshingly chaotic and charming. Super talented group.

I have never questioned myself if i like nmixx or not just bc they changed the genre in their songs, this is their concept, the major concept under nmixx lore is change every comeback, starting O.O with a mix between teaser instrumental and pop rock, to Dice with jazz and trap, to Love me Like This with R&B and House to Roller Coaster with bouncy house and bossa nova (the melody and harmony progression is dissonant and the structure is weirdly constructed) the point with NMIXX is, their songs are trips you take every release and you never know what to expect from them, also party o’clock and roller coaster was a summer releases that’s why is fresh concept unlike a trend newjeans thing

I think since I'm the newest to Kpop as a whole the concept seemed a bit jarring though as deep dive continued then I was able to understand why their use of juxtaposition made their music more interesting! I think it's easier to digest after you understand the concept they're going for! - Brandon

1:25:55 I think they changed the concept because when this song was released and also the previous song, namely "love me like this", they were in the real world, not the mixxpop world and also they conceptualized this group with the name NMIXX which is a combination of the letters 'N ' which symbolizes now, new, and next. Then, the addition of the word 'MIX' symbolizes diversity and combination. So it's not wrong if in every comeback they always have a different concept

you guys should see their stage practice's their live vocals while dancing are amazing

So I have some thoughts about why their comebacks went this way. O.O and Dice were early more experimental sounds and mixxpop was a love-hate feeling towards them. So for the next two comebacks they mixed it up and did some “normal” songs and people complained that the mixx was gone. So Sonar and Dash came out with Fe304: Break, both incorporating mixxpop. Like…. You don’t want mixxpop, okay. But now you want it again? Here you go, but they leveled up production and performance. I hope that subsequent releases follow this trajectory, because they have vocals that can deliver everything.

They refined it for sure, but they also had to take into consideration the lore/concept they are following, so I think it was a factor as to why their past songs sounded the way they did, except O.O because that was both a statement and a teaser for what's to come.

​@@StaySiren for most people, for sure it's “normal” but objectively speaking, they made it rather “digestible”. Honestly speaking, I cringed at their debut song, and I preferred the B-side ‘TANK’. When I heard DICE though, I was confident that the public would receive it better and I'm glad it did better.

I'm glad the girls are strong enough to go through it, because it was very risky to start their career with an experiment.

I'm glad they chose both routes! I like the jarring switch ups at the beginning of their journey and also enjoyed their mellow era but I will say the newest stuff hits much harder now knowing what they've done imo

There were a lot of errors in that Passionfruit lyric video but to clarify the last part of the song: The "you~" vocal run part started with BAE and then Jiwoo and then both BAE and Jiwoo, while the rap part on top of it was just Kyujin.

I wasn't sold at first but now I really love them!

If you follow their lore, the trajectory of their style evolution makes sense. But for the casual listener, who is not going to dig into all the symbolism of the lore videos, it's definitely confusing and led many to believe they "gave up" on certain styles to chase popular trends. I think the lore is a great way to allow the girls to take "breaks" from their concept to explore all the styles of music that they love. For instance, the summer songs are during a time where they are trapped in a dream world and can't continue their journey to Mixxtopia. When the girls are on their way to Mixxtopia, you see the mix pop style, but there are times where there are challenges or diversions that distract them from their journey. I think it's pretty hard to be a casual fan of NMIXX, so I think everyone should just jump in to stanning them fully. Their concept is to explore and mixx all music genres (and languages).

All the way since debut through now, NMIXX has had a nautical motif, so I am convinced that “freaky fishy” is one of those lyrical instances where “what you heard” is just as intentionally valid-if not moreso-than what’s officially written on the page. Though, unlike many of those other instances in pop music, this doesn’t appear to be an attempt to work around some entendre.

As a person with ADHD I caught a majority of O.O on the first listen and with my wide variety of music taste; I love the song

I really worry about newer NMIXX fans because it doesn't seem like The Hub is going anywhere - especially after the success of Dash. While they will have breaks from their concept as they put those breaks in their lore (divergences from their journey to mixxtopia), but I hope new fans will learn to appreciate what The Hub (O.O, Dice, YDS, Dash, Sonar) does because that is the sound they will return to more than not.

this group is a vocal powerhouse. their music is obviously a subjective conversation (i love every song of theirs, but some songs are growers and get better with the performances) but their talents aren't and thry are some of the best vocalists, dancers, performers in current kpop

O.O live is crazy good too. The fans that get it - get it. The entire crowd screaming "SHOOG SHOOG SHOOG" gave me such incredible energy. I think it will have longevity in the kpop industry because it has a cult following and is even becoming more accepted in the mainstream.

They released 2 EPs so far. The songs are amazing.

You should check out all their "It's Live" performance

The best thing about nmixx and also what sets it apart is their encore performance, which is outstanding compared to others.

AD MARE took it too far for debut ENTWURF was stil too experimental for many people lost their identity during expergo/A Midsummer NMIXX's Dream Fe3O4:BREAK mashed up the best parts of DICE and Love me like this, repeating short lines in the chorus + quick switchup in bridge oh btw the egg thing is a korean/chinese proverb "계란으로 바위치기"(hitting a rock with an egg) which means attempting an impossible thing, which they switched it up in soñar by saying that the world is an egg and I am the rock.

Yikes. If you follow their lore, all of their exploration of different concepts makes sense. Perhaps to casual listeners it seems like they "lost their identity" but it's explained in the lore. Their lore is specifically created so that their are "divergences" from their journey to Mixxtopia (i.e. mixpop on their journey). The summer songs we're literally "a dream" that they were trapped in and unable to continue on their journey.

i think roller coaster melody just like roller coaster major to minor and repeating. 1:22:59 its uppp, 1:23:00 its downnn. 1:23:15 this is the normal incline and 1:23:53 this is the highest incline on the roller coaster

I'm so sad that you guys didn't watch a performance video of tank. The choreography specifically references all these symbols of a military tank and all the girls have to come together to represent a tank (like transformers or something) in their moves. It's like them using Kyujin as a bazooka in O.O but the entire song. Also, the outfits in this era were amazing.

44:10 this is not Lily's highnote in the Music video, it's actually Sullyoon! If you pay close attention you can even see she's the only one standing still and belting in the MV. Nowadays Sullyoon barely sings this note however since its really straining (Lily or Haewon cover it or it doesn't get sung), but Sully deffo proved she holds her own vocally here.

Yes, the highnote was Sullyoon. But what she was talking about is the “camino” lines after the highnote (Therese sang it that’s how I know 44:22 ), and that was indeed Lily’s.

If anyone wants to know, after Lily and Haewon start it goes Kyujin,Jinni,Bae,Jiwoo,Kyujin. After first chorus is Lily Haewon again then Bae,Jiwoo,Sullyoon - Almost the entire thing is incorrect 😅 and im fully aware no-one cares except me haha

@@AudioAddictionmedia nah, not your fault guys. Just saying it was inaccurate. It wouldn't help casual listeners or those who try to get to know the members well if the distribution visual is messed up. Those lyrics video creators most of the time edit and post those stuff based on their own judgement by hearing who could be singing which part and end up messing some distribution big time and they try to be fast enough as soon as the official track or mv gets released so they could garner views faster than other creators that do the same thing.

Sorry but I think it’s a bit naive to think one of the most successful kpop groups ever isn’t influencing the kpop music scene

I would love for you all to react/listen to a kpop girl group that I love but like the fanbase is boycotting their music/videos so the label doesn’t get any funds from the groups releases. We love the group and the members themselves, as well as the music. It’s just that their label is annoying. It’s a long story but would you all be willing to check out their music videos from a google drive the fans created? It’s a way the fans can re-watch all of their content without directly supporting the label! The group I’m referring to is LOONA! Please let me know and if there’s a way i can send the link, i’d love to! Or just what i usually type in google to find the drive! I love your guy’s reactions and would love to hear your guy’s opinion on LOONA’s discography cause I feel like they are some of the best in Kpop!
