This just made me think of the scene in Black Sheep where Chris Farley goes tumbling down the giant hill and when he finally rolls out at the bottom, he stands up and goes “WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!??” Describes tournament golf to a T lol

I’ve been there too Soly… mad props to putting yourself out there like this. Getting there, the anticipation, feeling the game is in the right place… and then a total out of body experience where things are moving a million miles an hour, but in perpetual slow motion at the same time.

Love the video. We’ve all had it go that way before. Over optimism is a major double edge sword in golf. You start building expectations and then as soon you hit a bad shot or have a bad hole, all of that shatters and you’re very lost very quickly. I feel for you. I can also speak on the swing side from experience as a drawer of the ball that you had the club way stuck behind you. Cold morning, stiff back, you don’t get a good turn in the back swing and all of a sudden you snap one left. Then you try to turn more through the ball to prevent going left and you hit mega blocks. It’s a tale as old as time. Pulling for you Soly, I live vicariously through these rounds.

I play in the Skyview tournament every year and even though it's played on my home course, the difference between my normal rounds and a tournament round is huge. My first time, my hand was shaking as I was putting a tee in the ground or putting. I eventually learned how to handle the stress, but, it's real. Much respect to the players who play tournament golf no matter what the level.

Soly, I'm 100% convinced that being a dad will help. The best mental approach to playing golf is when you realise the time between shots is not for thinking about golf but for thinking about your family, you'll be fine. All the best.

A few things from me as a current d1 golfer. Golf is really really hard. Everyone has these days. Few bad holes to start the round and the world caves in on you and you feel completely alone out there. Few tips. Keep at it obviously. It’s a lot of fun and the more reps you have the easier it gets. Less negative self talk and body language. It makes it way easier to lose faith in urself and not trust in urself when ur getting angry after every shot and wondering wtf just happened. Ik you Ik a lot of this just kind of reiterating as it is really hard to trust urself

Soly, just like others have been saying, we’ve all had those rounds where you just want to go home 4 holes in. This past weekend I shot 80-91 and on Sunday I wanted to WD on my second hole. First I had a bogey on a par 3, then I had a 9 on a par 4, then a 7 on a par 5. So 3 holes in I’m 8 over par. The mental game is the hardest part for everyone it seems.

Soly, like my great uncle big Randy always said, if you don’t bleed, it don’t count. He was senile, soured, and no fun at all, but he sometimes struck a point. Keep wading through the muck and the mire - up here or in there - and we can’t wait to watch you raise whatever Lost Ark-esque trophy they award you with a crispy noon.
