Morse was only here for a year, but what an impact he has made to the organization. Great clubhouse guy and teammate. Really had a bad break when he got injured during the year, but made up for it huge with this home run and his RBI's in the World Series. Pence needs a new best bud! Good luck In Miami!

I think it's funny how when Morse went up to bat, the broadcasters were talking about how it would have been smarter to have a player who's a better lead-off hit. Then after he tied it up they were talking about how smart it was to match him up with the pitcher.
@miggizle85
9 жыл бұрын
No they were saying it prior to him hitting the HR. They said he wasn't your traditional leadoff pinch hitter but that clearly Bruce Bochy was hoping that Morse "ran into one". Harold even said he liked how Bochy had matched Morse up with Nishek the day prior and that gave Morse the advantage of having seen his pitches already. Make no mistake... Harold and Verducci are no chumps. They provide awesome analysis.

This at-bat changed the game in more ways than one. Hitting the home run of course tied it, but it kept Duffy on the bench for any possible pinch run/hit scenario later on if needed, which is lethal when in the hands of someone like Bochy. After that shaky top of the 9th the Giants escaped with the game tied, there wasn't a save situation to put Rosenthal in so Matheny put in Wacha who hadn't pitched in a month with the season on the line. Ishikawa will always be remembered as the guy who sent the Giants to the World Series, but Morse set it all up.

Both this and Ishikawa's walk-off were equally thrilling but, for me this was more intense, because the game was Lost, bottom of the 8th, Giants not able to hit STL's pitchers - there was NO HOPE - suddenly, BAM! Raised from the dead! The ball dropping into the alley past that yellow post - burned into my mind forever.
1:40 that camera shot of the ball hitting the bat is priceless.
this had to be one of if not THE greatest game ever at AT&T. god i wish i could have been there. was workin at the pub.

As much as Panda made history with his game 1 HRs against the Tigers, I’d say over the last decade Cody Ross and Matt Morse HR are more memorable and IMO should go down in Giants lore more then that amazing game Panda had.

That place was nuts. Back when San Francisco was a safe, clean city. They've always loved their sports though. And it's funny hearing people talk about the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, but the Giants have won three World Series titles this century and the Dodgers have one fake ring since 1988. So it doesn't matter how many division titles phony LA wins.

Everyone has their favorite home run, touchdown, buzzer beater. For me, there's no question, this is the single greatest sports moment I've ever experienced. The moment was huge, Giants down late in the game, this dreadful feeling they might lose not only the game, but the momentum in the series, and then Mike Morse, the good-natured slugger, coming up in a pinch-hit situation. It gives me goosebumps every time I see it because I remember how I felt when he crushed that ball. Like I said, everyone has their ultimate sports moment. This is mine. Go Giants!
Legend has it that posey told him on his way to the on-deck circle “you’re gonna hit a home run” to which Morse replied “come on man you can’t do that to me!”
That one shot in left made Morse a Giants legend.
I absolutely love seeing major leaguers smile when moments like this happen, this whole act like you've been there thing doesn't always need to happen. Its okay to look like you're having fun!
Electrifying
SOOOO GLAD HES BACK!!!!!!
2014 was such an epic p[layoff run for the Giants. They had that 18inning slugfest with the Nationals, this wonky series with the Cardinals, the 7 game epic with the Royals and lest not forget Madison Bumgarner's dominate playoff run capped off by his Game 7 closer roll on 2 days rest.
People can hate Buck all they want but calls like this is why he’s a sure hall of famer
LEGENDARY MY GOD
I remember being dejected as hell (because of the game situation and that I had to work!) when I left my house to head to work. Just as I exited the highway Morse killed it! Awesome moment and probably one of the few sports moments I'll remember where I was when it happened haha

As soon as Morse hit this one I knew we had this game. This one will always give me goosebumps...
This maybe my fav hr of all time! Heres why: 1. Last game michale more came off the bench the last game and didnt get a hit against the SAME GUY! in SL. Bochy perfectly matched this up and put FULL trust in morse! Morse delivered. 2. Ive bever cheered this much over a hr EVER I LITERALLY flew outta my set cheering this on. 3. Michael more was one of my fav player in 2014. He missed a lot of time starting toward the end of the year yet bochy (due to injuries) put him on the postseason roster and he does this OFF THE BENCH!. I actually lived this homer more that ishikawas.
Game 2: Cards down 3-2, Taveras delivers pitch-hit game tying blast down right field line. Giants in the top of the ninth have bases loaded and Sandoval grounds out to pitcher Maness. Wong then hits walk off home run. Game 5: Giants down 3-2, morse delivers pitch-hit game tying blast down left field line. Cardinals in the top of the ninth have bases loaded and taveras grounds out to pitcher Affeldt. Ishikawa then hits walk off home run.
The glory days! This homer and the Ishikawa walk-off in the same game! What a time to be a Giants fan!
He was clutch that year. Gave us the go ahead rbi single in game 7 of the world series too
I've always loved Morse and this clip is epic.

Who's here in 2024?: Only one year as a SF Giant but we remember him for one of the most clutch home runs in postseason history. The man child running around the bases still gets me 10 years later! 😀
Pure unadulterated joy. Inspiring to watch even after all these year.
that's a hanger banger if i've ever seen one
This is the one thing that MLB has over all other national sports. A middle of the pack player can make the biggest impact on the biggest stage if just given the opportunity. You never see Anderson Varejao make a buzzer beating 3 pointer to win the NBA Finals or Marquise Goodwin go off for 9 receptions for 3 TDs in the Super Bowl. It tends to be the bigger names that make the differences in those sports. But in baseball it’s just one on one, pitcher v batter and anything can happen. Michael Morse and Travis Ishikawa for the win to go to the World Series??? Amazing!! Forever Giants legends all because of just a couple bay swings. I love baseball sometimes.
