    175#/5'5"/Colorado resort riding on steeps, groomers, and trees...moved from an Elan Inverse 159 to this Squash 153 and absolutley love it. Am VERY surprised at how unsinkable it is, even at a 153cm, nose holds up but doesn't compromise speed. Hit 62mph at Loveland and felt very confident. Edge to edge on groomers is really fun, playful. No complaints here, although a bit heavy compared to the Inverse (lightest ever)...quiver of 1 in this bad boy. Advice--SIZE DOWN!, my sweet spot is usually 155-159.

    Hi TJ, has it changed much since the 2018/19 ? I have the old one but have not had chance to ride pow yet. combinations of bad luck with weather, not living close to mountains & Covid restrictions. I cant wait to float on the pow, but it is a groomer killer & great for nose butters.

    What up TJ! Love the vids brother. Just scooped this board a month ago and im staring at it right now wondering what bindings i should throw on it. How stiff of a binding should i be looking at to compliment this boards riding style?

    i have one. absolutely love it for carving groomers. funnest carving board I've ever ridden. don't really care to ride it in powder. too narrow for great float and not nimble enough in tight trees. i stick to my short/fats for pow.

    Nice video! I got a question though. Would you say one can get the squash as a splitboard and use it like a regular board most of the season or would that cause issues in the long term?

  • @tschabow5608

    @tschabow5608

    2 жыл бұрын

    A splitboard is quite expensive, you don‘t wanna use it like a regular snowboard. If you use it heavily in a resort it will only last for a few years. If you get both the splitboard and the regular board you‘d get a better bang for the buck long term

    Been riding this board for 3 seasons now along with my GNU riders choice 161.5. I think they sent you the wrong size. I am 5' 9" around 170lbs and 153cm Nitro is perfect on deep powder days. Normally I ride my GNU on the East coast and was not sure to go that much shorter but glad I did. I take both to Utah each winter and squash is awesome in deep snow , tree runs and even on groomers . Try the 153 if you get a chance.

    Nitro dropped a 156 Squash this year, which seems better suited to yours (and my) weight. How do you think the 156 would handle differently/better for your weight vs a 159. It seems like Nitro is trying to do two things with this board: great at carving and great at powder. Typically, being good at one compromises the other. Would you agree that they've succeeded? Could this be a suitable daily driver for the directional (non-park) resort rider?

    I think this board is right in line with that style of riding. Would be a great choice if thats what your'e looking for. This thing has a great feel for carving and spending time on groomers, plenty of stability for exploring and getting in the trees, and will still offer excellent float. I think the 156 would be the size I would go for if I were going to buy this board. I'm 5'10 around 155LBS

    Koruas are basically full cambers and float like crazy. All you need is to have for a full camber to float is more cm2 in the nose than tail and a proper nose upkick to mitigate nose diving. Camber FTW

    @@finroddd I had the Optimistic 154 which is a full camber, the Y is a camrock. Opti had an incredible float, even for my 86 kg. Outfloats my Archetype by a large margin for example. Only dedicated full rocker pow boards like Burton Fish 3D would outfloat the Opti.
