Nitro Candy Apple Red with black grain filler
Candy Apple Red with black grain filler. Have you ever wanted to to do a nitrocellulose candy apple red finish but with black grain filler? Well look no further
For this finish you'll need a candy apple red spray kit which consists of nitrocellulose inca silver and nitrocellulose translucent red. It's also a good idea to grab a can of nitro sander sealer and some nitro gloss top coat.
For the grain filler, get some wire brushes and some water-based grain filler. Also, lots of sand paper and wet and dry paper.
After prepping the body, spray a couple of coats of nitrocellulose sander sealer and leave to dry overnight. Then a couple of coats of nitro inca silver, let dry and use wet and dry paper to remove any imperfections and then go over with a couple more coats of nitro inca silver.
The next day, seal everything with a couple of coats of nitrocellulose gloss and leave overnight.
Next up is the grain filler. Push the grain filler into the grain and remove the excess then leave a couple of days to dry.
For the candy apple red finish you'll need to spray a couple of coats of nitro candy apple red over the body, leave to dry for a few hours then use wet and dry to remove imperfections. Then go over with a couple more coats of candy apple red.
The final day, go over with a couple of coats of clear nitro gloss, then wet and dry, then a couple more coats of clear nitrocellulose gloss.
I leave guitars for 3-4 weeks for the nitrocellulose to cure fully.

Love that colour! Great finish.
Now that's bloody... I mean candy apple stunning! Thanks for the cool ideas. I think I will steal some of them for my current build. 🤘😈🤘
Amazing look on that guitar, good job man.
North west guitars are amazing too. I've bought a neck from them before and it was perfect in every way
Fantastic glaze!
Such a good video. Awesome. Thanks.
Looks amazing 👌🏻
That guitar looks outstanding
It looks great!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this post
Oh wow, I love how it looks before the red, why does no one ever do such a finish?

It’d probably cost a fortune due to the amount of work involved. Looks great though
Awesome effect. Do you think acrylic lacquer spray paint would work with a nitro clear coat over top?
can this work as good on poplar body guitars? Your candy apple red looks so freakin good its actually insane
That Wilkinson bridge any good? Great finish btw
before the filler the guitar looked like a novo
Great technique! Thank you! Have silver, dark blood red and clear K2 cans already, but afraid to start…. a proper finish is a delicate work…. Yours turned out very professional!👌🏼
Thanks for such a great video! If I wanted to do gold instead of Inca silver underneath, which I have read is an option for Candy Apple Red, do you have any recommendations for which gold to use?
Can you actually feel the grain with that finish?

So because it’s a satin finish you don’t need to do the final sanding up the grades and buff/polish. Am I right saying that Looks amazing btw 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I’m not sure. I tend to do things by how they look and this didn’t look like it needed buffing and polishing so I didn’t bother Thanks mate

Yeah it looks tidy, and the black filler to bring the grain through is an awesome idea 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
here's the deal with oil, use rosewood oil, and NEVER wipe it on or off, let it soak in, then let it air out for a day or so.. never wipe it, specially quartersawn fingerboards
Way too complex.
why nitro? 🤔 It literally has not one single advantage.

@@adamnesbitt11 fair enough. I didn't consider looking outworn as desirable but I guess I have to make room for the thought that this is a matter of taste. thanks for the nudge in the right direction!
