Nissan Sentra Fuel Pump Diagnosis and Repair DIY

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Recently my girlfriend's 2007 Nissan Sentra died on her while she was driving to work. The symptoms she described seemed as if it had run out of gas. After verifying that it did indeed have gas, I dove into some diagnosis, which you'll see in this video that lead me to believe the fuel pump had failed. This video shows you some very basic troubleshooting as well as how to replace the fuel pump in any 2007 - 2012 Nissan Sentra.

    Haha I found myself identified with your comment. My girlfriend has a 2013 Sentra and it died on her at work last week and I highly suspect is the fuel pump. I already ordered it at the dealership and will replace it for her. I'm watching all the videos I can to tackle the job

    This is a great video, it helped me change out the fuel pump in my daughter's car in about 45 min. That includes the cleaning, before removing. There was a lot of dirt on mine. i brushed it first then blew it out with some compressed air then hit it with brake clean. one thing i would recommend is to change up the points your trying to hit the ring from. i found i was able to get it on and off with about 10 hits each doing this with a large screwdriver. Thanks again for the great video.

    Thanks man. That definitely sounds like a fuel-related issue if there's no codes. I'd suggest removing the back seat and listening to the pump for any noise when the ignition is on. Normally it will prime for a few seconds. If not, it's likely dead.

    I'm not sure if there is one on this car, but if there is, it might be on the fuel rail. If not, then I'd suggest using an in-line fuel pressure tester. The rail has a standard quick connect fitting on it. I'm not sure if it's a 3/8 or 5/16 though.

    Hey man, I have 2007 Nissan Sentra and just starting to randomly die, I had it working for about a week running good until it died again while driving, I have taken it at 80+ mph for about 40 mins running great and I have brand new fuel pump installed just last year, it turns on and runs great can a fuel pump go bad after a year? EDIT: I checkout out the pump and it seemed to be running good what I notice was the connector that goes to pump, it has one of the small ports burned and If I pushed on it the pump would shut off, do you think that’s the problem I could have? Thank you

  • @FoulNews

    @FoulNews

    2 жыл бұрын

    If that connector is burned, I'd suggest replacing it. There may also be something wrong in the fuel pump circuit if it's causing the wiring to melt or the new pump may have an issue causing too much of an amperage draw, which could cause your symptoms.

I've changed the spark plugs ignition coils, air intake boot, replaced both oxygen sensors, and got a new muffler and put in fuel injection cleaner but car still does these things. They are annoying. Try using some PB Blaster or WD-40 around the ring. You can spray it right underneath the tabs on the ring itself and let it soak in for a little while. Then the ring should be easier to move. If it's still having trouble, you may need a larger hammer or you may need to use an air hammer.
