Nissan Pathfinder vs. Kia Telluride | Midsize 3-Row SUV Comparison | Price, Interior, Towing & More

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When the Kia Telluride debuted in 2019 to critical and commercial success, it was a sign that Ford and Honda no longer ruled the three-row midsize SUV market. Over the past couple of years, the Telluride has been recognized as one of the best three-row SUVs. We named it the Edmunds Top Rated SUV for 2020 and 2021.
The Nissan Pathfinder has been redesigned for 2022, and with it Nissan hopes to once again compete with the leaders. In this video, Mark Takahashi compares the Nissan Pathfinder and Kia Telluride. How well does the 2022 Pathfinder stack up against the best in class? This is our three-row midsize SUV comparison test of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2021 Kia Telluride.
The Nissan Pathfinder has been known for its spacious cabin and strong towing capabilities. Outside of these features, however, the Pathfinder has struggled to stay afloat in the competitive three-row SUV space. For 2022, Nissan has given the Pathfinder a full redesign to stay competitive with the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer and Kia Telluride. The new Pathfinder has a more muscular and upright style, improved suspension and steering, additional interior storage and new technology features. For 2022, the Pathfinder's towing capacity sits at 6,000 pounds when equipped with the towing package. Overall, the redesigned 2022 Nissan Pathfinder has the goods to stake a claim in a competitive SUV market.
At Edmunds, we are big fans of the Kia Telluride, the largest SUV in Kia's lineup. We love the Telluride for its smooth ride, luxury-like interior, and spacious third row. Taking the Telluride for a drive is a satisfying experience. The V6 engine is powerful and responsive, while the brakes are strong and stop in a hurry. Inside, the Telluride offers a roomy and upscale-feeling cabin with easy access to the third row. Tech features include numerous collision avoidance systems, adaptive cruise control, and enough USB ports for everyone in the family to plug in. Add all this up and it's easy to see why we consider the Kia Telluride the best three-row midsize SUV.

Yeah but trust me, i put my kid 4ever car seat in the seat and hit the button and you barely get enough room to enter the back unless they children. You can only fit 2 car seats in the back (and not next to eachother). Unless you got Booster seats you wont get 3 car seats in the back and with 2 on each side youll never be able to drop the 3rd row. Thats why i need a SUV w a big trunk like the Escalade ESV, Wagoneer or Minivan.

Hi. Could you elaborate? My wife and I both like the Telluride, but then I ran across the Pathfinder and I'm seriously considering it. @@MizzouRah78 well we were looking at the telluride for the space. Its my wife and I our three girls, but we have have any number of our nieces and nephews. I also coach youth sports, so the pathfinder definitely delivers on space and accommodations (we got the bench middle row instead of captains chairs). It's a great ride and gets excellent mileage for such size of a vehicle. Very agile, and maneuverable, and of course I off road wherever possible and especially dodging waiting traffic. Plenty of storage all over the truck, not to mention how aesthetically pleasing it is. Its really just a well designed and thought out vehicle. Everything we were looking for in the telluride we got in spades with the pathfinder. We've had it for about 18 months and still get hella compliments daily. (All black everything, and it wasn't an extra charge like the telluride nightfall package is). Sidenote, I was at our dealership 2 weeks ago, and saw a white platinum with the pecan interior, my God was it beautiful 😍 If you're still looking, grab a pathfinder and don't look back. Also, the new infinity qx60 is built on the same platform/chassis and is also quite the looker with great interior, Essentially an upgraded pathfinder.

FYI: I test drove a 2022 Pathfinder SL 4WD here in Central Texas where it was 100 degrees on 7.29.21.. the reason I wanted to test drive one was to see how the AC worked because I saw a few reviews that said the AC didn't get cold enough...and they were RIGHT...The AC did NOT get cold enough IN THE 100 degree weather .. I had the AC set to recycle the air from the inside air with AC button pressed and had it set to the lowest setting which was 60 degrees and the air did not feel crisp enough and would get warmer when u slowed down ,I also un pressed the AC button and that did not help..I own a 2015 Pathfinder SV and the air gets colder in it when I have it set to 70 degrees with the air being recycle from the inside air and the AC button is not pressed..Needless to say I was disappointed..matter of fact we help my mother in law buy a Nissan 2021 Kick last week and the AC gets colder then the New 2022 Pathfinder..Nissan please fix...Here in Texas if the AC isn't cold enough then nothing else matters with all the other new features...I definitely recommend testing one out on a HOT day before buying one..

Makes it easier for kids to grab the handles. It seems Nissan really focused on the kid-friendliness of the pathfinder. You can also keep a child seat in place and still get into the third row. Something the Telluride can't do. Also, the placement of the buttons to move the seat is located low, again easier for kids to reach to get into the back.

One of the advantages of coming late to a party is that you get a chance to see what everyone else is wearing. Obviously, Nissan benchmarked the Telluride and is wearing much the same outfit. And if it doesn't top or even quite equal the KIA that hit the 3 row SUV marketplace like an earthquake it appears to be a credible competitor. And that's quite an achievement considering that the last model wouldn't have even made it past the doorkeeper at the party.

If so, IMO, neither are Japanese cars what they used to be (not as good - we've always owned at least one since the mid 80s) nor are Korean cars (better now - son drives a 2020 Kia). That said, if features, specs and price were equal, I still prefer Japanese cars, feel they are better made.

Pathfinder Rock Creek vs Pathfinder base SL In my opinion the Rock Creek is the best looking Pathfinder model. And because of the suspension tuning and tires, it is the most capable Pathfinder model. It has some features and options like tow hitch, fog lamps, cargo liner, thick roof rack, rear captains chair, heated front seats, remote start, and off road tires that not even higher trim models have standard. But, it lacks a lot of other feature and options that make the Pathfinder more luxurious like heated steering wheel, power lift gate, power front passenger seat, full leather seats, wireless charging pad, I found the base model SL had more of those options than the Rock Creek and cost only few thosand more with discount. The SL also has a softer and quieter ride than the Rock Creek. Because the Rock Creek has off road tires, it is more rugged and more suitable for driving on rougher roads. Ultimatelty I decided to buy the SL for daily comfort and more features. The Rock Creek is actually a comfortable and quiet ride despite the off road tires, but the SL was more quiet and more comfortable. Both are just as capable off road but the SL has dress shoes tires and the Rock Creek has on hiking shoes tires.

I can't find a telluride near me and given the new redesign that excited me. I figured I could get good value over a Palisade, Telluride, or highlander that are immensely popular and therfore overpriced because of their popularity. I like to go with underdogs that still provide value while people over pay for other brands. The problem is the Pathfinder falls short in quality and reliability. Consumer reports continues to rate Pathfinder a 1 out of 5 for reliability, that's just unacceptable. I'm currently leasing a frontier pro 4x, but some of the things consumer reports said were issues with the Pathfinder I'm starting to see in the pro 4x... The right window is slow to go up (which is absolutely pathetic given that it has less than 10k miles on it!!!). Also CR reported infotainment screen issues, going blank, not turning on always. I'm dealing with EXACTLY that on my pro 4x, again pathetic with under 10k miles on it. This concludes me that the new Nissan is just not what it once was, quality has fallen immensely. I won't be renewing my lease or getting into a pathfinder as a result. It's too bad cause this review almost had me, but based on my research, I'm steering clear of Nissan until I see improvements in quality and reliability.
