Nissan Micra 2017 Review | Driver's Seat

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Nissan’s all-new fifth-generation Micra five-door supermini has radically departed from its previous design theme and now has the looks to be a serious challenger to the Ford Fiesta for class honours.
Loved and loathed equally for its bubbly looks and placid personality, the Micra has struggled to attract new buyers over recent years, however, the new model should rectify this in the same way that the Juke and Qashqai SUVs has transformed Nissan’s fortunes.
It gets a distinctive V-shaped grille, swept back headlights, prominent creases along its side and boomerang-shaped rear lights.
The Micra also features a 'floating' roof while the rear door handles are ‘hidden’ in the rear roof pillars.
The Micra is lower and wider than before, giving it a more purposeful and athletic look, while an increase in overall length aids internal passenger space.
Adding to the more dynamic stance and styling, the driving position is set lower to create a feeling of being more integrated with the car.
Ensuring you can get comfortable, the new Micra has more driver seat and steering wheel adjustments than before.
The dashboard is simple, clean and modern, meaning it should be easy to use.
Under the bonnet, at launch, will be a choice of two engines; a 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel, both of which will develop 89bhp. An entry level non-turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol will join the range in April with 70bhp.
Enhancing how the Micra drives are Active Ride Control, which improves ride comfort, and Active Trace Control, which reduces understeer and sharpens the handling. A new brushless electric power steering system is also available providing extra steering feel and response.
Available in the Micra is a range of safety technologies including; Lane Departure Prevention; Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition; Traffic Sign Recognition; High Beam Assist and Blind Spot Warning.
There are 10 exterior paint colours to pick from while a six-speaker Bose® Personal® sound system, developed in collaboration with Nissan, is also available and features speakers built into the driver’s seat headrest.
We tested the 0.9 TCE with a five-speed manual gearbox in N-Connecta trim.

I loved the car in the showroom and bought it straight away. Mine is the Acenta 0.9 in energy orange with 17 inch black alloys and the black body kit making the car a real head turner. Ok the back seats should have electric windows but I doubt I will ever have anyone in there so it doesn't matter to me. It's sharp to drive and has adequate power but has a whole raft of safety features. Overall a 9/10 for this supermini, it's all you want in a small car.

John Beeforth thanks for the kind words and great to hear from you. There are quite few on the vault so feel free to take a look - anything from city cars to luxury SUVs. There are plenty more coming soon, especially in the next couple of weeks.

We were once a Nissan Micra family owning 5 different Micras from the 1st gen in the 80's and 90's - all excellent reliable little cars. When the 3rd gen Micra came out in 2002 I took a test drive. OMG. The tone was set by the cheap plastic door handle which had 5mm of left-right slop. Seems the Renault merger in 1999 led to a massive drop in design and quality. (When I went to Taiwan in 2005 they were still selling the Japanese-made Mk2 Snoopy Micra - no suprise they elected to pass on the cheap euro-box version). One thing I don't like about this new version is the poor visibility due to those rear pillars. It's style over substance. By contrast the Mk2 Snoopy Mkcra had the best visibility of any car - twas like sitting in a goldfish bowl. Bring back the Mk2 I say.

In August 2018 we purchased a Nissan Micra 0.9 IG-T Acenta in Energy Orange with Enigma Black Exterior Plus Pack. It’s such a nice car, a real head turner in the Orange. The safety features are outstanding & this car will definitely rival the likes of the Ford Fiesta for value for money. I also hear a Micra N-Sport is due to be released & early indications are it’s pretty good! Ford & Vauxhall will certainly be looking over their shoulders at this Micra & well done to Nissan for shaking up the super-mini market👍

My pleasure. Ah can't wait! Please don't start an Infiniti test like some other reviewers who ram home how many cars Infiniti sell in a derogatory manner. Infiniti know they're a small player and knowledge they're not going to sell in huge numbers! Grrr Hehe sorry rant over. Thank you again my friends for to the point reviews 😊

Rival models such as the Ford Fiesta, VW Polo & Vauxhall Corsa in mid-range models are in excess of £16,000....it’s the standard price these days it seems. This new Micra has given them all something to think about though....cracking little car👍

Great design and another very good review, just a shame it does not seem that great to drive. A Festa or Swift would still get my money over this.

Terrible car that deserves to stay where you found it...at the dealers. It is expensive, has Dacia pieces of merciless hard and very cheap plastic. I have had this sorry excuse for a car for 3 months now and it is the biggest deception. Do also not forget it is put together by the French Renault, meaning it is badly put together. Far too expensive, totally uninteresting and very mediocre. Do yourself a favour, buy a Fiesta
