The 96 Maxima SE had that same instrument panel with the white face during the daytime & then it would slowly turn black as night time approached. What kind of material is that? How'd they do that? And where can I get an instrument panel w/ that functionality for say.... a Honda or Acura?

My check engine light doesn't illuminate, can I use this video to fix this problem?

I've done this job before to change my gauges to LED. Getting that plastic bezel off without breaking it was a hassle. Patience needed on that piece.

To be honest I've never tried. I imagine there's a write up somewhere online showing how to do so.

My fuel gauge hasn't worked in over 5 years. Would this throw a code for the fuel lever sensor? I have a check engine light and got it hooked up to a scanner that gave a 0462 code.

You can test the sensor but you generally have to remove the fuel pump to do so. Here's a video that may help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YpmGutlrfZDNdbQ.html

Be aware that if you own a 98 Maxima with the white face gauges (some kind of option), a 97 Maxima black-faced instrument cluster has the wrong female plugs. Can't plug in anything. I just found out the hard way.

I have a 97 Altima gxe. My speedometer doesn't work, nor does the temperature gage but the rpm gage works....do u think replacing the whole cluster might help? CarsNToys

nothing witty to type Start by checking the fuses under the dash board. If the fuses are okay, then you may want to think about replacing the cluster and hoping for the best. You can actually test each gauge, but it's time consuming and you'll need a multi-meter to verify power is getting to the gauge. Also, regarding the speedometer, if you have a check engine light for the vehicle speed sensor, then you'll need to replace the sensor.

i did another check i again under the dashboard fuse box and i found the one it was out fix and now it works

Andres which fuse is this?? I have same vehicle same problem, just speedometer and gas guage lights, half the dash doesnt light up. I know it's a long shot to ask but it would be so helpful!

NextLevelNick is a fuse # 10A and 15A but you could have a bulb that is not working no more

I removed the cluster to change the odometer bulb, but when I reconected the cluster it didn't turno on

The connections can be a little touchy. You can try using dielectric grease to help with the points.

That plastic bezel thing is awful 🤣 I worked so hard to get that on and off. Can the plastic over the steering wheel/ignition come off easy? That really gets in the way

Nevermind I figured it out lol. Its just the small screws in the back holding the gages in place.
