It's the way he's snapping from 3rd to 4th. I can see he's thinking about every gear change rather than it being second nature. He also has his arm in a weird position where it flexes slightly inwards causing him to go into 6th (i used to do this in my GTR..but the otherway and money shifted lol). The Getrag is very tight from factory, he needs to go back to basics and practice shifting normally and then polish the skill from there rather than trying to snap gears quickly. I reckon if he shifted "normally" instead of trying to shift quick, he'd probably go into gears much faster. Seems like hes trying to do a lot at a "fast" pace and psyched himself out. Just my opinion based on my own experience, looks like hes making the same misakes as what i used to do.

Jamie and the boys First up big respect to the boss man for bringing his beautiful R34 and having a go what a legend 🙏 As we know manual H pattern and especially 6 speed is not for everyone I feel like that needs to be run back with a different driver in the R34? Man.. i was watching this vid when my gf called to come over.. I brushed my teeth, took my jacket, and drove over to hear place. Once there we had a good time and then I headed back home. I stopped over at Burger King since I had the munchies after a job well done (it is what it is) and then headed back for home where I discovered I left the tv on and to my surprise; the GTR was still shifting from 3rd to 4th... 😮

Man! Both of'em look absolutely hard AF in their own ways, what a legendary evolution of a badass model!

The Gear changes, as every one else has said, is whats making slower. Marius needs to spend more time driving his car like its meant to be driven.

Great video but the 34 definitely had more to give. Its a known thing with the R34 6 speed that the gates are too close together for shifting hard. Adam LZ has mentioned the same issue with his 34 as well

It was rough watching this video because although the R35 doesn't have to worry about the bad shifts because of having an automatic, the R34 guy just wasn't in sync with his car. He shifted to quick and missing shifts, and not properly launching the car. the one race that he was off by half a car, it seems like he should've been able to get at least one win!! maybe next time, you could have this same match up where both guys are in sync with their cars!! I definitely loved the cars!!

Buddy in the R34 needs to learn how to drive his car. I saw a white GTR in the thumbnail and was hoping it was Affi, now that would have been an entertaining race!

@@jimmyj4625 my comment is not aimed at Sambos driving skills, more of an reflection on the lack of skills portrayed by the R34 owner..as you say it doesn't take skill to drive a R35 hence me saying he could probably do a cleaner run without missing gears, do you get the picture now? That R34 is built solid, there is no gearbox issues he just can't find gears

This reminded me when I had my dad drive my all motor k20 once. He was shifting at 6000rpm and shifting this slowly. After couple tries I told him to pull over and I’ll show you how it’s done hahahah

Personally no question the r35 looks a lot more modern and looks like it’s worth a lot more in the real world and is a lot quicker when effort is not required to change gear. R35 all the way!

ah man, didnt the R34 guy fluff his gearshifts the last time he appeared on the channel too? 😔 we really need to take driver out of the equation, i want to see what both cars can do at their max... also want to see some of the other 900 HKS plated GT-Rs that i know exist, on the channel... personally would have the r34 on my drive.

Those who drive an older car must surely understand your at a disadvantage with a manual gearbox over a modern car with a dct. Even if your a very talented driver the statistical risk of missing gears is very high as opposed to zero in a dct unless the gearbox itself fails

This R34 is much faster than the R35, but Marius can't change gears and his responses are slow. Imagine Affi in this Race

The R35 should have taken launch control off, it would have evened it out a bit. Though it was having shifting issues. The R34 would still be my preferred choice. love the stance of that car. Both are nasty sets of iconic cars. Now let's put them up with the Supra. Make that happen 2024
