The Nissan 300ZX is a sports car that was produced across two different generations, the Z31 and z32. As with all other versions of the Z, the 300ZX was sold within the Japanese domestic market under the name Fairlady Z.
This version, the z32, was introduced In 1989 and was built until 2000 and was succeeded by the 350z in 2002. It used a front engine rear wheel drive layout and was available as a coupe, convertible and targa top variations.
The addition of the "X" to the car's name was a carryover from its predecessor, the 280ZX, to signify the presence of more luxury and comfort oriented features. the Z31 was a sales success, but the Z32 received high tech additions which bumped up the price - this resulted in dwindling sales and it was removed from the US market after 1996.
In Motorsports, the Z32 won the '94 24 hours of Daytona and won the GTS1 class at Le Mans at the same year, placing 5th overall.

Wow, what can i say. This is superb, never expected you to make such a cool and very custom car (not meant in a bad way)! The only thing I would have changed is the wheel fitment in the front and maybe sanded down the original fender a bit so it wasnt visible. Furthermore I love the way you made certain custom parts using spares or with things from around the house. Dont stop making these kind of builds. Would be very cool to see you try and make a model with door-hinges or a custom bodykit using some epoxy putty.

Thanks - I have thought about opening doors or other parts in the future. I saw James from Scale Model Experiment make really good hinges with magnets actually. The front wheels aren't glued in place so I may go back and fix them. I could even paint the inside of the fenders black and then you wouldn't see the original ones actually.

Great build, way to imagine a project and execute it nicely. I really like the color and decal choice very inspiring to future builds. Only thing I might suggest is spacing out the front tires like you did the back so they are flush with fenders.

Thanks, Scot. Yeah, I had a lot of issues with the front wheels - the spacer parts included with the kit didn't really do anything.

Oh wow, you've done a stunning build Thomas, the techniques and alterations are very ell done, you're braver than me. The number 23 comes from the name Nissan, in Japanese 'Ni' is the number 2 and 'San' is the number 3, so that's why the 23 is used, I've been watching motorsport for far too long :)

@@BOABModels A lot of Japanese drift and JDM cars have number plates that to us look like numbers but the numbers have meaning, like 'bad boys' or something, it's a whole new world really :) I'm glad you stuck with it, as it's a brilliant project and build

Nice work there Thomas, looks great and it was a pleasure seeing you put it together. Like others mentioned, I would have just popped the front wheels a little closer to the wheel arches, but other than that I really like the final outcome. Well done

Cheers, Karl. Yeah, I know what you mean. The wheel positions gave me some real issues and I'd say that it is a real downside of the kit that it doesn't give better advice to get wheels which fit the bodykit better. The front ones aren't glued so I may go back and find a way to fix it at some point.

Nissan often uses the number 23 for racing events because the number "2" is pronounced "ni" in Japanese and the number "3" is pronounced "san"; i.e. "ni-san."
