It's a complete guide on how to check the high pressure diesel pump on Nissan Navara D22 zd30 diesel engine.
it's not a common rail zd30. it's rotary pump.

    good video, thankyou I was able to follow everything you were saying my friends nissan navara 02 model stopped on me suddenly and had the same re starting problem I was able to show your video to my friend so that they understood better what their mechanic had told me on the side of the road.

    Thank you this is going to help me diagnose my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder with crank no start issue. Hopefully technique will still work with a cheaper oscilloscope.

    Great information. I'm having an issue with the timing on my pump. 2005 Nissan Patrol Y61 ZD30DI. My me his having a hard time setting the timing.rigjt now it's at 115° Can you please tell me the correct timing of this pump.

    On this system, the pump controller has 6 wires to it, power, ground, 2x can lines, ckp OUT from pcm & pump speed signal/feedback to pcm.

    Really good information mate did you end up finding out if it was the fuel pump because I have a 2000 ZD30 Nissan Patrol that suddenly stopped and won't start

    Question: Can I check the the blue/red wire and blue/ silver wires with test light or multi meter? Thanyou for this my friend. I had a code indicating Crank angle sensor, replaced but still no start. The fact that it thru that code tells me its electrical problem....I have power in the large red wire and ground is ok.

    I thing those blue wires are communication bus. So no. Will need oscilloscope to check.

    i have read that the starter motor can cause a crank angle sensor fault due to electronic interference

    Your scan tool does not fit well into the DLC connector female pins may have a loose fit or one of the ground wires on pin 4 or 5 may not be good, not all scan tools use the same ground and not all have the exact same size male pins. Continuity test grounds under load and test pin drag fit.

    Fuel line communication error 0073 shown on G Scan, you need to unplug the 2 sets of cable heads and spray oil cleaner onto the contacts. It may be wet from carwash or dust collected from off-road.

    Sorry mate, we do not say it's staying at 12 volts while cranking, if it drops below 9 volts, need to do something about a weak battery or a problem with the poor ground, loose wires from the battery, or too much drag from a problem mechanically with the engine or starter. Does the red pulse signal from the ECU going to the HPFP blue connector have any wires going to the injectors, I think not? This signal is also a timing signal as the HPFP also needs timing to know when to time a high-pressure fuel squirt to an injector THEN the injector needs to know when to fire an injection pulse this way the HPFP is in time to produce high-pressure fuel to supply the injector at the proper time, not too early nor too late. Your blue waveform near TDC and the other is near BDC, the actual time to view should be in the curvature of the blue trace, I can see injection timing noise, this noise is also called a free channel or 5th channel on your 4 channel scope LOL.So on your scope time markers, just before 1.538 I can see some noise on your blue trace which is just before the TDC of your green trace so I can see that injection timing is ok, you can actually measure this to see how far advanced injection is while cranking, this will also help you to locate other timing problems if the injection is too far retarded or too far advanced. This engine is a diesel, we can see that injection is happening before the red pulse and at the same time marker you can see noise in the red waveform just prior to the pulse, an injector noise pulse verifying a time difference. On your very last test with no CKP signal hence no ECU signal to the HPFP, can you then test if the injectors will still fire or not also since there is no signal to the HPFP to tell it to create high pressure and is this still in fact happening or not, 2 more new tests for you on a good working system? Pretty damn good video mate, thumbs up from me.

    I was a Nissan technician way back in the day when these models were launched, We saw several cases where the starter was drawing excessive current while cranking and then robbing the ECM of power, preventing start.
