Status up date! I had found out that when changing the crankshaft positioning sensor one should also replace the camshaft positioning sensor as well. I had ran the Ecm to check for trouble shooting codes and came up with the code P0340. If this code appears one should replace both sensor. After I changed out the camshaft sensor the car started right up. I want to say thank you for responding, and that I will continue to watch. Thank you again.

This happened to my wife this past weekend at 10pm. Her car stalled and would crack but not start. In the middle of the road. I got there and the first thing I did was check if it had gas. The gauge said it had a quarter tank left. We pushed it to the side called my mechanic. He said push it to the parking lot and leave it there I’ll check it tomorrow morning. The next day my mechanic checked it and he thought it was the gas pump. He pulled a gas pump out and tried it and it was working. He look at the gas tank and it was empty. He put everything back together again put 2 gallons of gasoline and the car started right up. Moral of the story; never trust your gas gauge on an old car. Always put at least a gallon of gas.

I was having the same issue on a 2009 Nissan Rogue SL After i got a call from my wife saying her car wouldn't start ok so i checked it and it had a good Battery it wanted to start but wouldn't....everything on the car was working....tried jump starting it anyway still nothing i heard it all timing chain...starter...alternator and to me none of that made sense so i took off the wheel and when to work and yes indeed after taking off the belt my wife's car did start up. So i checked the ac pulley and it would not move so i took off the clutch and the bearings to the pulley fell out. The compressor did not lock up the pulley did so it prevented the belt from turning. After replacing clutch and pulley as well as the coil on the compressor everything is back working normally i hope this too help someone because it had me lost for words. Tim you Rock great video keep up the great work.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I've had the same issue with my 2005 Nissan Altima. Ive replaced the crank sensor 5 years back, its now turning slow. So i replaced the sensor again. It turned over quicker but now 5 days later its sometimes not starting. I have 220,000km on the timming chain. It's never been replaced. Do you think the chain need replaced? Could it be that the chain is not lining up the crank gear with the sensor?

Great channel. Love your attitude. I have a 2002 Altima 2.5 The car burns oil (consumes it @ 1 qt every 1000 miles or so). I found significant oil in the spark plug wells. Replace the valve cover gasket. I was told the oil was entering the combustion chamber through worn valve guide seals... Oil burning has killed the Catalytic converter. I can't handle the project in my garage. With only 128K miles!!! Local mechanics tell me piston rings are the reason for the oil consumption. #2 spark plug is definitely dirtier that the others. Any suggestions?

hi, I appreciated your real life video. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. If the crank sensor is faulty, will it interrupt power to the fuel pump? My Nissan Pulsar Q hatch 2001 just stopped as I was doing 100k's down the highway. I is turning over just fine but no start. After many hour of inspection it appears there is no power to the fuel pump. There is power to the fuse, but not at the pump. Any hints would be great, thank you.

I have an 05 Sentra 1.8 Liter. Yesterday, while turning, the engine just stopped. I tried and tried to start it to no avail. As I sat there for about 10 minutes, trying to figure out why, I cranked it again. It started!!! I was only able to drive it about 200 yards and it quit again. This happened 5 times until I got home. I ran a diagnostic test on both of my vehicles and one of them said something about a crank sensor. Now that I have seen this, I will check my CS before I plan to replace my fuel pump. Thanks for the info.

Tim and Rob, you might wanna toss in some Triple Antibiotic Ointment for those cracked hands of Eric O's. This really does the trick. Tell him to wash his hands clean as he can stand depending on how big and how bad the pain is. I've had some winners in my day for sure. Then put a gob of the Triple Antibiotic Ointment on the area (s) and wrap it completely with a new clean bandaid or bandage for a day. Remove the bandage before going to work and wash again and reapply. If you get it dirty or torn at rewash and reapply bandages and ointment. Otherwise just change it out for a new bandage every day for two or three days. You'll know when you don't need a bandage cause the crack will completely be closed. Takes a week to really heal. After that - and from now on --- Don't be a fool zero - Be a man Hero and wear the right kind of gloves next time you're messing around using chemicals, or sprays or any dangerous liquids of any kind. Look at this way - Would let your kids play with that stuff? Then don't play with it either. I know this works because it has worked for me for more then the last 45 years. When I worked on heavy engineering gear (pumps and valves and such) and equipment while in the US Navy for 20 years and again while I worked at an oil refinery as an outside operator for 15 years I would come home with hands so cracked and calloused that i had no feeling in them and they would literally be bleeding slightly when i sat down to eat at the table. They did bleed a lot mind you but any thing kinda freaks out the little ones. My hands felt like the "Thing" on "Fantastic Four". No feeling at all. I could hold hot valves and not know it was burning me unless someone told me or i looked down.

I have a 2003 Nissan maxima in great condition inside and out. I had it sitting up for a while, I lost the key and then got it replaced after they reprogramed my key and I changed the battery in car. The car wouldn't start. Previous before this the car had no issue cranking up.

Before I spend anymore Money To try to Get My 97 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4 liter running again it cranks over but wont start on the OBD Test My check engine light stays on has fir along time.It reads faulty p1320,peer I think but actually it reads on the Diagnostic tool when I plug it in crank engine Over its telling me It Won't start or stay running & misfires cuz ignition coil, crankshaft sensor, pigtail connector to the ignition coil was Melted & corroded bad connection, and i put plugs in it & tuned it up & changed ignition coil that aint it.I turn the engine over it cranks but wont start now& before it was running crappy at idle& when im driving over 40 mph it cuts out & dies on the road or hesitates at acceleration.

My wife's 2009 Nissan Murano has battery/electrical issues. Replaced the battery, 3 times in a year. It may run/start fine for 1 month, or 3 months, then nothing, won't start. If we jump it, it starts right up. Until the next time. The alternator has tested good. Any suggestions is appreciated? Thank you, John G.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima with a V6 I have no spark I checked two of the coils in the front no spark I do have voltage to the coils with the key on and I also have voltage to the injectors with the key on I did not check for injector pulse cuz I do not have any type of noise light I don't even have a multimeter right now is there any other way to check those crank and cam sensors I have no codes however I understand sometimes the crank sensor will not throw a code. I do have the dongle that plugs into the dash the assembly line diagnostic connector and I have Torque Pro and torque light and I have Carissa and piston and a few other apps is there any way to check the crankshaft position sensor with some type of live live data on the aforementioned apps that I have? Or if I got a hold of a voltmeter can I check the output within digital multimeter set to AC volts? Also does these cars have a ignition module like the dis system on a general motors car?

Soooo I tried prying with a screwdriver and snapped the eyelet for the bolt, tried prying with a prybar and snapped more off, tried grabbing whatever I could and prying on the pliers which ended in me ripping plastic out everytime. I have no idea what to do now besides dropping the oil pan and praying that I can reach the back side of this stupid sensor from in the block. I'm considering buying the car from the customer with intent to watch every last bit of it burn to the ground, it will be the first and very last nissan I ever purchase.

Great video OK so now for a single mom who just got a car after a long time without someone gifted me a 2004 Nissan Sentra with 140,000 miles it's been a great car I've only had it a month lol but I let a friend borrow it and they ran it almost out of gas and then put I think old gas in it, and it stopped about a mile from their house and even though I went and put fresh gas in it a couple of gallons it cranks, but it just won't start now and I don't know what to do. I'm without a car again with kids and it's cold. Any ideas?

Your mechanic is guessing. You have to realize these issues are resolved by trial and error. It could be your immobilizer...bad key transponder..crank sensor...bad coil.. start there first before changing your module

Tim, my 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 with 326,000 miles always starts on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd try. Other than that the car runs perfect. Any ideas? Unlike the "car" in your shop, mine gets plenty of maintenance when needed but I wouldn't trade it for any new one.

Hi Tim, Me again, My 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S with the 1.8 liter (4 cylinder) just started having the "dying while driving" trouble. Trust me, it is not fun or funny when it happens. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS !!! Just driving along and it's like someone turns off the ignition key. No power steering and no power brakes !!!! If I wait 10 minutes, the car starts back up (until it doesn't) like nothing ever happened, until it happens again. I just drove a 265 mile trip (all highway) that normally takes 4 1/2 hours now took 7 1/2 hours !!! Three (total) HOURS on the side of a 4 lane interstate highway !!! It shut off about 20 times !!!!! Never had an issue if I just drive it short distances around town doing errands, but not long highway driving. The car runs perfect (except this problem) and burns zero oil even with 330,000 miles (original engine) and gets 33 mpg. I hate to get rid of it but my wife will not drive it, and I won't allow her to any longer. New cars are no better than the old ones just more expensive. Any help out there ?????

I have a dumb question.....is the crank sensor the same as the neutral safety switch? Mine would not start today (no crank) but a friend said throw it in neutral and try and it started up. Its a 1996 Altima

  • @ThecardoctorTV

    @ThecardoctorTV

    8 жыл бұрын

No, the neutral safety switch is a mounted on the transmission and usually adjustable to only allow the starter to crank when the vehicle is in park or neutral so that it won't suddenly lurch forward unexpectedly when started. It's possible that this is your problem based on the fact that it started once you moved the shifter. If it continues and you find that after moving the shifter it cranks then it may just need adjusted or possibly replaced. Always possible it is a problem with the starter or ignition switch and it just happened to start when the shifter was moved. Hope you get it figured out.
