    Nissan and Mitsubishi had such a huge head start in the Ev world, the IMiEV and LEAF were revolutionary, the LEAF is still a decent EV.. but then they simply refused to expand their Ev offerings.

    What about the Ariya? Also don't forget that Tesla STILL hasn't made an affordable EV like the LEAF, so in that sense, Nissan's range is more complete where it matters than Tesla's. Most of us don't need or want a Cybertruck, or a Model S Plaid, or even a Model X. There are pretty much only 2 market segments that matter, and that is the compact and the SUV, and Nissan has covered both bases with the LEAF and the Ariya.

    With their ICE vehicles, there were some that had serious transmission issues. Even 15 years later, the transmissions still had the same issues and were breaking. They know there is a problem, they don't do anything to address them. When you have a company that doesn't care about their customers, they fully deserve to go under. I would not be buying one, even at the discount. When something serious goes wrong, and it surely can... all the money you "saved" will be wiped out.

    I am thinking of swapping my ev for an ICE car …. 1. I have heard that petrol cars cannot refuel at home while you sleep? How often do you have to refill elsewhere? Will there be a solution for refuelling at home? 2. Which parts will I need to service and how often? The car salesman mentioned oil in the engine and timing belts that need replacing and a box with gears in it. What is this? How much will this service oil change cost and how often - and what happens to the old oil. Also, apparently these petrol type cars generally stop on the brakes alone - so the brakes wear out much faster - how long will they last compared to my current car which lasts over 100k miles? 3. Do I get fuel back when I slow down or drive downhill? 4. The car I test drove seemed to have a delay from the time I pressed the accelerator pedal until it began to accelerate. Is that normal in petrol cars? 5. We currently pay about 1.2p per mile to drive our electric car. I have heard that petrol can cost up to 8 times as much. Is this true? 6. Is it true that petrol is flammable? 7. I understand that the main ingredient in petrol is oil. Is it true that the extraction and refining of oil causes environmental problems as well as conflicts and major wars that over the last 100 years have cost millions of lives? Is there a solution? 8. I have also been told that you have to transport oil all over the world to turn into petrol or diesel, and these ships have in the past damaged the environment by leaking the oil. 9. I have heard that cars with internal combustion engines are being banned to enter more and more cities around the world, as it is claimed that they tend to harm the environment and health of their citizens? Is that true? 10. I have been told that these internal combustion engines make a noise when you start them - so early starts can wake people up, and driving a lot of internal combustion engine cars in towns makes towns noisy. 11. is it true people can steal the fuel from your tank? 12. what is the drop in range in cold weather, I've been told a car that does 45mpg can drop to 37 mpg in winter - just curious on that one. 13. a friend told me that the exhausts wear out - is that true, and people steal them for the rare material used in them. 14. I was also told - that the exhaust gas isn’t good for you - and if you leave the car running in a confined space - like a garage - you will die - surely that isn’t true is it? 15. next door told me - these petrol cars - carry around 40 to 60 litres of highly flammable liquid which is pumped into a steel cylinder, and its then exploded to generate expanding gas to move a piston, and turn linear motion into rotary motion. Why would anyone want thousands of explosions happening within a few feet of where your sitting. 16. a guy at work told me - he has a petrol car, and it leaks oil. When he parks it - surely that’s not right is it - leaving dirty marks on the floor and contaminating the environment so directly. How long before this happens if I change. 17. my dad told me - if you buy a diesel car - the hand pump smells very bad, and you have to wear special gloves to stop your hand smelling, and if you spill it on your clothes it terrible. 18. is it true - the petrol and diesel is so dangerous, that you can only buy the fuel at a special filling station, and not anywhere (hotels/Car parks/Home/Work)? 19. while technology is advancing, will I ever be able to refuel my internal combustion car for free using only the sun? 20. would I be better off going straight to horse and cart, and not buying a horseless carriage - they sound pretty awful, burning dinosaur juice and polluting the environment whist funding conflict and war and consuming raw material at an unbelievably high rate.

    Nissan is in an amazing position in the mid sized truck market as the last one with a naturally aspirated v6. Tacoma fans have been jumping ship due to toyotas move to turbo 4 cylinders and price hikes. If nissan was smart they would drop their msrp more inline with their actual sale price to improve traffic and small interior upgrade of the infotainment system/cameras would make them extremely competitive. A king cab pro4x in the us would also boost sales.

    I had 2013 Altima that I traded for a Tesla M3. Was a solid car until the trade in 2018. I liked the CVT except I like the no-stink EV more. At this point, no ICE can compete with a Tesla for me. But I’m somewhat baffled with the Nissan hate, cause I didn’t notice much drawbacks to Nissan compared to Toyota Corolla and Honda Odyssey I had. I hated the Odyssey the most tbh. And btw. I paid 2.5K for my M3, something going wrong with suspension/alignment after 5 years, something worn out cause not addressed earlier. But that compares with Odyssey transmission rebuild $3.5k after about same 5 years(10 years earlier which is more money) and a Tesla brings a lot more enjoyment driving it over those 5 years. Toyota Corolla was reliable until totaled. Still, in this day and age the stinky and the not self-driving and the not regenerative-braking one-pedal driving is just not acceptable to me. Besides all other software customizations a Tesla allows. And the overnight charging vs wasting time at stinky gas stations. Just no. A big turn off.

    @@tleo3333 There are many stories on the internet of Nissan CVT horror stories. You were one of the lucky ones. I hope my luck continues. I'm glad you like your Tesla, but I would never own an EV. I saw a horror story of EV owners waiting for hours to charge their vehicles. The batteries will cost more than the car is worth by the time they need replacement. I've seen videos of these things catching fire. They burn so hot all the fire departments can do is let them burn themselves out. I'm a big proponent of water powered cars as was demonstrated by the inventors Stanely Meyer and Dennis Klien. All those stinky cars you refer to will not be stinky when gasified water (separate hydrogen and oxygen molecules) is powering them.

  • @tleo3333

    @tleo3333

    15 күн бұрын

    @@georgestreicher252 the matter of the fact is that ICE burn much more often than EV. Like 10x. If battery management and cell insulation done right, a fire may only happen when a catastrophic physical damage happens to the battery and again, that is a lower fire rate than ICE. Mostly talking about Tesla, cause idk what corners other manufacturers had to cut with less expertise at that. Also, I understand the newer LFP batteries have a much much lower chance of fire. And the horror stories about EV charging for hours are just that - horror stories designed to make you buy an ICE. Maybe some other EVs have that problem, I never charged for more than 40min in my 5 years of owning a Tesla M3. When you charge at home overnight once a week, you don’t have to stand there and wait. And Superchargers is the only place where I charge when traveling.

    Hi Sam you normally do a great analysis , but you got this one wrong. Ghosn destroyed Nissan, he generated great profits by making the cars cheap. Allmost all of the CVT's in all the Nissans fail at some point. He didnt just make the gearboxs junk. He cheapened everything else in the car as well and turned one of the worlds best car makers into one of the worst. I was talking to a grey car importer a month ago. He had 3 Nisaans left and after he sold them he was never importing another Nissan as the only warranty claims he has ever had where on Nissans and they cost him serious money. He has never had a warranty claim on a Toyota. I feel sorry for Nissan they used to make cars where you could increase the horsepower over 400% and nothing would break and now they make cars that driven gently will break. With there reputation in tatters. The chinese market lost and falling behind on EV's they are doomed

    I think Nissan's switch to focusing on the U.S. market merely postpones the disaster. It's based on continuing to make and sell ICEs where the ICE market is bigger because EV uptake is slower. And THAT is the wrong approach. If it were up to me, I would shift to EVs as fast as possible knowing I'm going to take a huge financial hit in the process. It's still better than the alternative. This fits with what I know about Japanese culture. Group decision-making is a good thing but they're not very good at being bold and taking chances.
