Nisi Athena Review - The BEST Budget Full Frame Lenses?

Today we look at the Nisi Athena's, an outstanding new set of FF primes. These little lenses punch way above the belt and deliver some of the best performance from a spherical prime we've seen, even compared to the Arri Signature Primes. Check them out, now available for rent at NORTHWEST CAMERA CO!

I have bought a set after briefly playing with them and also thanks to your video and CineDailies. I appreciate they are significantly different price points but how do you feel they compare to Sigma cine primes and Zeiss CP3s. Have used both before and nice. But to buy a set at this price point is pretty huge, particularly when they are going to be so good for gimbal work!

Great video. I don’t understand why everyone is raving about these lenses. To me they look like cheap TTartisans $50 dollar Chinese lenses. I don’t know if it’s the grade or what, but in your shots the shadows are really milky, it looks muddy, and the parts that are in focus look over sharpened. Her skin looks terrible. You see every little imperfection. I’m sorry, but these are not good lenses. What is everyone else seeing that I’m not? I think Nisi did a great job of tricking people with making the lenses look like Arri Signature primes on the outside. People are convincing themselves that they are mini signature primes. They look terrible. I’d rather have Rokinon lenses.

if you truly check ttartisan lenses you realize their low quality by ca breathing low resolution and sort of"vintage" look, arri sets are high quality as well as zeiss prims, you won't find "vintage" from them because that's not their styel, they aim for quality, color, and micro contrast, and that's what nisi is achieved, I recommend checking og footage instead of heavily graded ones for lenses, but I just simply couldn't understand how would you connect athena to those cheap cctv rehousing "vintage" toys

You can go retro look by many ways, or even get another set, but to have high quality color and micro contrast with high build quality at this price range is rare, plus they are not the same digital feel as photography prims
