And it was such a powerful scene to play it over with, he's clearly thinking over his own tragedy as a child when he's looking at the kid who lost his father. I got chills when they actually USED the song so effectively like it was used in the trailer. Totally legitimatized the hype you got from it. Reminds me of when I wished they used Johnny Cash's Hurt in the movie Logan like they did in the trailer because it just fit the movies' tone so well!

It feels like they took this song and build the entire movie around it. Masterpiece

Yes. Matt Reevs was inspired by Kurt cobain as he was writing the movie. He actually chose Pattinson is because in the movie “good times” Pattinson looked like Kurt cobain. (The song is sung by Kurt cobain if you didn’t know)

@@anudhajayakulasuriya5807 Oh I knew all that but thank you. I'm a huge Nirvana fan and I also love Batman so the connection between those two really made me more than happy. Yeah, I saw "Good Time" in my preparation for Batman because I watched multiple of Pattison's movies to see how good of an actor he became. I for sure didn't want to make the same mistake people did with Heath. I'm glad I did my prep and didn't judge him just based on one movie series he said he regrets playing in. At least what I heard.

@Roah Theconqueror Kurt rarely went for the lyrics that say literal story (Polly), he usually connected mostly random sentences and words, sometimes using antonyms (Smells Like Teen Spirit), or simplified sentences of question/answer type (All Apologies), primarily concentrating on the feel you will get from hearing the connection of the words more than the meaning of the words themselves. Having that in mind, I stand by my original comment.

The Riddler looks very much like Jeffrey Dahmer, like a normal, harmless dude - that's what makes him so scary. His violent ways of bringing corrupt "elites" to justice is like a dark mirroring of Batman's fight against crime in Gotham. Bruce Wayne could have easily become just as murderous like the Riddler if he hadn't Alfred and his inherited wealth to keep his sanity. While the Joker was like the exact antipode of Batman, the Riddler is like his evil alter ego in some way. Absolutely brilliant film. Brilliant character development.

yeah - I loved that narration arc, highlighting the progression of the batman's character in this film. In the begining, he is vengence - something in the way playing when he was loooking at the child who's parent just died was perfect timing. In the end, he strives to represent hope. I really liked that outro hope monologue, it reminded me of the dark knight trilogy

a realistic batman ever, be it his suit, his batmobile, his batarang, his enemies, his friends its all realistic. But like some critics, it doesnt show well batman actual persona, bruce wayne a philanthropist and playboy outside his masks. The narration in the beginning is captivating The Batman as vengeance, his not everywhere but his enemy doesn't know where he could be or when he will come. He is the shadow himself. When the lights up in the sky,its not just a call its a warning.

​@@AccessGranted46 Small details like when Batman started up his Batmobile for the first time to try ramming Falcone and his goons but the engine just failed at the first attempt, because previous scenes showed that Bruce modified his car all on his own, probably made an error, and did not test-ride it before the fight because he was shown to prefer riding his motorcycle, is what makes this movie feels so grounded in reality. It's also logical that a younger, less experienced Batman would make mistakes like this at preparation.

Saw the film yesterday and it’s exactly what I’ve been wanting in a Batman movie. It was the shortest 3 hours I’ve experienced with cinema. Paced so nicely so nothing drags or ever gets boring. Every scene had purpose. Loved it. I’d put it up there with The Dark Knight. Possibly, even better. Very well done.

This movie is the embodiment of how Batman is in the comics, finally got the detective side of him instead of the “I beat bad guys” side, they used comics for a reference clearly and that’s what makes this movie special, especially as a Batman fan who knows everything about the lore💀

@@thearcherplays2381 how’s the ending weakest part? When the entire city is flooded and god knows how many people are dead. It collapsed the system and now is the time for the criminals to look for the power. It’s not all over the place, it’s just that even batman failed to stop this from happening. This is coz this batman is new and is still getting used to things. There’s something else, I believe the spin off series would be about what happens when half of the Gotham is destroyed and flooded. I am not sure why they don’t like the ending but for me, it was great. Even riddler wanted to cause major destruction but he still destructed half of the city and batman couldn’t save everyone so I think it’s the perfect ending.

This was honestly my favorite Batman film ever, I never thought I'd like a Batman movie more than Dark Knight!

I knew Robert could do it. I loved this movie! And his Batman voice wasn't over exaggerated like Bale's was. Good job Robert! Good job to the whole cast and crew.

He got 3:22 down and because of that I am giving this a 10 out of 10

it wasnt perfect and in my opnion nothing could live up to the level of hype this movie had, but even so its a solid movie and I still really liked it

There is something to be said about _not_ becoming aware of this song via popularization from _'The Batman'_ (a comic character, movie), but instead having sentiments from it dating back to its 1991 recording & release. Nice that more people will know of it now because of the movie commercial _(music belongs to the world and art is to be shared),_ but for decades it had been a intimate gem that only those who knew of it knew. Kinda felt like something was "shared", yet at the same time, hearing it in a commercial/Batman trailer also caused it to feel like something was stolen or a secret was spread wide. Eh...Context...Now on a subliminal level, some people have to try not to think of 'The Batman' movie when hearing a decades old _"rubber ring"_ _(as Morrissey woulda called it)._ The above said, what woulda been a truly fitting rendition in a 🦇Batman/Dark Knight movie is the *Black Flag* song *_'She's Black'_* : 🎼🎶💥 kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6SNy9KxmLq4gco.html 💥🎶 .....especially serving as the soundscape to a intense, whirlwind, brutal, melee scene. @@m.worthy agreed. I’m a huge Nirvana fan and know in depth about Kurt’s life and how personal and deep this song was to him. As you said thrilled to see the world get exposure to this, when I saw the trailer and heard they used it I pretty much lost my mind. But I hope people explore Nevermind now further beyond the well known tracks because this is one of the songs that realllyyyy took the album to a far deeper place

Just as a "mood piece" though...🎶 The song's lyrics and mood do emote a type of despair which, _if the fictional Gotham City were itself a "character", the mood of the song does suit dark gloomy rainy corrupt fictional Gotham City._ 🌃🌧🏙🌧🦇 ...a city at a low point. *COBAIN* : _"..like if I was living under the bridge and I was dying of AIDS, if I was sick and I couldn't move and I was a total street person.."_

I have always loved this song by Nirvana, and when I heard it start during the movie, I couldn't believe it...that they would go with this hidden gem, instead of some other more popular song... Really was a great movie.

No, maybe it's because no matter how much rage Batman has within him, he wants to believe anyone can come back from darkness, that anyone can change, that everyone deserves a second chance, and because if he ever crossed that line, he would never come back and in turn become one of the monsters he always fought against. That is why Batman doesn't kill. He fights crime to ensure no boy or girl ever feels the pain he felt when his parents died. So if he killed criminals he would betray that goal and inflict that very pain upon others even if he was justified in doing so.

@@smgyro1476 you should read more comics before say "batman doesn't kill". Indeed, in the begining of the character he used to kill people. That "rule" came later and not all the authors respect it. In fact, any hero will be forced to kill at some point. And well, If you try to make something realistic with those characters, in some situations they have to kill or they will die. Open your mind bro.

@@betofernandez5524 I did and no one cares if he did kill initially. That version of Batman never caught traction and isn't the character we know today. The version of Batmam popularized today is the one defined by Bill Finger and Frank Miller's interpretation and he doesn't kill. No one cares if he did kill in some comics. Those stories aren't sacred just because they made it into print. Batman's no kill rule is a defining part of Batman's character now and always should be. Second, no "any hero" isn't going to be "forced to kill" at some point. That is a broad statement of which you have no evidence to prove. Heroes like Batman find a way to avoid ending their enemies's lives through their skills, strategy, and abilities. They descalate situations not the other way around. Batman's no kill rule is half of what defines him as a character and is largely what makes his stories so interesting as it creates stakes. If Batman kills he causes other young boys and girls to feel the same pain he did when his parents were murdered and he fights to avoid that at all cost even if it is foolish in some circumstances because it would get in the way of preserving the lives of innocents. Maybe even if Batman is right that any person can be redeemed, maybe sometimes it isn't worth the cost of life to do so. That is the point. The fact that it seems so irrational and extreme is the point. Batman's goal may very well be an impossible one but he still fights on to try to make it a reality. That is what defines Batman. So no I will not be opening my mind to otherwise because it is what makes Batman the character he is. If you're not attached to that idea then maybe you are the one who needs to read more of Batman's iconic stories.

The buildup is an insane tease that some people may not make it to but it all comes together and pays off at about 3:20 and it's a big one. Great work!

(All of the rogues that he keeps putting away has became his responsibility, it’s his responsibility to keep Gotham safe and to keep them in Arkham. In a way, they’re like his pets as a pet would be to us, a responsibility.) And i’m living off of grass. (Poison Ivy.) And the drippings from the ceiling. (Mr. Freeze.) It’s okay to eat fish. (Killer Croc or Penguin.) ‘Cause they don’t have any feelings. (Two-Face or Riddler.) Never really realized just how much this song really fits Batman when you look into it and see just how much it relates to him and how much could be applied to Batman and his rogues.

I finally saw the batman I admit that at first I hesitated and I thought I was gonna hate everything about it but the movie turned out awesome Robert Pattinson done a great job and as the movie goes on it just gets better and better also this song is a very good pick for the movie I love nirvana.

The movie is a masterpiece just like it's soundtrack. I couldn't get enough of it!

Some people don’t realize how much Robert Pattinson has been moving up these last 5 years he’s a true actor goes into the best indie films honestly.

Kurt Cobain. Lead singer of the band Nirvana. He died in 1994 at the age of 27 from a self inflicted shotgun wound. He is regarded as the voice of Generation Y and one of the most influential musicians of all time. He along with his band Nirvana pulled Grunge (a genre of rock ) into the mainstream single handedly. He is a legend.
