"When we played Buenos Aires, we brought this all-girl band over from Portland called Calamity Jane,” Kurt recalled. “During their entire set, the whole audience-it was a huge show with like sixty thousand people-was throwing money and everything out of their pockets, mud and rocks, just pelting them. Eventually the girls stormed off crying. It was terrible, one of the worst things I’ve ever seen, such a mass of sexism all at once. Krist, knowing my attitude about things like that, tried to talk me out of at least setting myself on fire or refusing to play. We ended up having fun, laughing at them (the audience). Before every song, I’d play the intro to ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and then stop. They didn’t realize that we were protesting against what they’d done. We played for about forty minutes, and most of the songs were off Incesticide, so they didn’t recognize anything. We wound up playing the secret noise song (‘Endless, Nameless’) that’s at the end of Nevermind, and because we were so in a rage and were just so pissed off about this whole situation, that song and whole set were one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.”

The girl band had to flee the stage. Kurt was extremely pissed off but Krist convinced him to play anyway. So to protest he played the start of Teen Spirit before every song but never played the whole song. The set was mostly songs they wouldn't know and he played goofy versions of everything. Kurt enjoyed it but was disappointed because he thought the audience didn't even know he was doing it protest.

Se refiere a en que esos años salía de moda la música tecnho xd no todo era rock quizá en USA si pero en latinoamerica reynaba bastante esa música y en las discotecas ponían tecnho hasta donde se ellos fueron de fiesta en argentina y quizá a Dave se le pego la música tecnho y dijo "yo me gusta tecnho" y luego imita con la batería el ritmo de este tipo de genero

But imagine you and your friend heard about nirvana and this was your first concert. This would suck, teen spirit is the only you and your friend only know a few songs and they butcher it just to stand against drunken idiots. The drunks may have deserved it but those two guys that went for a great time definitely didn’t, you always have to play for the one guy who came to support you

I can't believe Dave and krist are still with us today in 2021. I wish kurt was still with us. Rest in peace Kurt Cobain.

It really shows how much power they had at the time that the audience stayed quiet and waited rather then rioted. They were already riled up. Apparently a lot of people loved it because they thought they were just experiencing a rebellious band being all "Punk Rock". The ran down the clock to collect their payment....had they not played there probably would have been a riot. So it did't quite get their point across but it looks like they had a hell of a lot of fun anyways.

Una pena para los que estuvieron ahi y no fueron complices del maltrato a la banda femenina Calamity Jane, el resto (y supongo la gran mayoria) se merecieron lo que obtuvieron. El publico de aquella epoca (misma epoca en la que yo fui adolescente) era muy agresivo, el "Grunge" era muy buevo aca, eramos pibes que venian o del punk, del metal, o hasta incluso del pop. Por suerte, la gente que hoy vamos a Pearl Jam, o incluso hasta hace un año o dos, SoundGarden, Stone Temple Pilots, etc, maduró bastante mentalmente y aquellas porquerias ya no pasan. Tuvieron la oportunidad de tener el mejor recital de sus vidas, y la arruinaron. Yo no pude ir, tenia solo 15 años y ni un peso. Vivia a 10' del estadio.

Para el que no sabe, antes de Nirvana en ese concierto canto Calamity Jane, una banda de mujeres que tocaban ahi su musica, cuestion que el publico Argentino le tiro cosas y hasta las llamaron p****, Kurt al ver todo eso y que la gente esperaba la famosa cancion Smells Like Teen Spirit, el tipo en vez de tocar la cancion tan esperada... decidio jugar contra el publico, cantaba para el orto aproposito y con humor sarcastico. Cuando el concierto la gente al final de todo se va "feliz" y al salir salen con un sabor bien amargo, como si les hubieran castigado y torturado de la peor forma. Hay gente del publico que no hizo eso de abuchear a la banda Calamity Jane, pero la tragedia es que hubo gente que si ataco y se lo merecian.
