My dad worked for a company installing and building a system of fans and misters that were installed at dairies to help keep the cows cool. Company's slogan was "We Cool Your Dairy Air" i cant remember the name of the company. I used to go on trips with him to dairies that were farther away meaning er got to stay in a hotel and road tripped. I never once thought about the cows needing their hooves trimmed.

I don't know who's negligence it was but either way it was neglect. If someone was suppose to watch over them during the winter it may have gone unnoticed or someone didn't care enough to pay attention to this poor cow and it's herd. There could of been more in need of a trimming but this was the worst of them. Thank you Graeme for your caring touch and for getting this cow on it's way to recovery. Just google local farrier schools in your area. Most states have one or two and you will sometimes find a farrier supply store (usually multiple in a state that has any farms) and that would also be a place to speak to people and get leads on farriers who are currently working and in what areas they are working. Any old school grainery usually delivers large amounts of feed to farms of all kinds and would be a place to ask around. I know everyone at my grain elevator including the owners and the owners son went to high school with my car mechanic. . . .it's how small towns work - we all know each other and who does what and who has extra from their garden to who has extra sheep. I know which farrier each one of my neighbors use and half of us schedule at the same time with the same person so he makes only one trip. Any cattle shows at your state fairgrounds would also be a place to meet people, like a state cattle expo would even have classes on hoof care, but a farrier would be on staff and people are happy to discuss the care of the cattle they bring to show off.
Well done ! And thank you ! From "The Cows" 👍😁😁😁😁😁😁
Wow! That one was bad. These cows really need you and th guys, Graeme. Well done!

Hi Graeme. I just saw a trimmer doing a terrible job. He was causing the cow real pain but said he wasn't hurting her. He hacked at her hoof and made her bleed. It was heartbreaking to see this. What's worse is knowing that he will work on other cows and continue to cause pain.
