Except you should never use cans of compressed air, as they have a chance of blasting liquid at your components. Use a portable air compressor like a data vac instead.

@@BlackWind121Even if it does, the liquid isn’t conductive and will evaporate almost immediately. If your device is off, it will be just fine.

1. Don’t use compressed air. 2. Switch specific, you’re also supposed to add thermal paste between the heatsink and initial metal plate.

Hi. When you use a spray on a fan, block the fan with your finger, do not let the fan spin by itself ! You could damage your fan if it spins at speed he was not built for.

Ok so funny story. That is actually my switch. My dad knows this guy and the fact that I can see my switch in this really epic guys hands, is just so cooll to think about. My Switch’s fan’s protective cover broke a few years ago because I dropped it and I think that’s what had been causing mine to overheat and randomly disconnect from my TV. Sometimes it takes manually blowing cold air on it and reinserting it to make it work.

(Instructions unclear) dumped a gallon of water on my friends switch and blowed on it

Use alcohol without disconnecting battery. Facepalm.

Tip: don't use compressed air from spray cans as they are flammable on the fans as when they spin,they create electric current and that meants starting a fire (saw a case where a youtuber used a compressed air from a spraycan and by doing that,you basically giving a big fireball due to at first being near the fans)

A kind reminder if anyone want to clean dust buildup from the fan, disconect the fan first. If you blast the fan with air compressor it motor actually going to create electrical current that probably will mess up the board, so disconect it first. Some people found it the hardway when their system (the board) fried.

Did you put thermal paste between the heat sink and the metal black plate? That is one of the ways it dissipates heat

If you do this do not let the fan spin as it could damage the bearings.

Just be sure to add thermal paste on the heat pipe that goes on top of the cpu 😊

Yea its good to to know someone who knows how to do this stuff but this dude did about 4 things that could damaged his friend switch even more in 20seconds. 1, didnt disconnect battery, 2 used canned air that could spray liquid/blast off small components, 3. didnt hold the fan down when spraying it, 4 that thermal paste on the APU was horrible will probably cause even more heating problems.

FYI, the notification didn't fool me, I'm on android, I'll still sub tho

Its not thermal paste on the heatpipe. Its called thermal puddy and its a replacement for thermal pads. You should NOT use thermal paste instead. It will lead to poor head transfer from the heatpipes to the metal shield.

As a certified engineer, I can confirm he did things flawlessly and if I myself were to take it apart, it would also happen to be the same way. The only thing I'd have done differently is I'd have used liquid metal instead or regular thermal paste. I've used liquid metal on everything, including my 3090, and it is by far the biggest contributor to big temperature drops. P.s. Double check by googling before you apply liquid metal to anything (e.g. checking if your heatsink is copper or aluminium in the specs) as liquid metal eats through and dissolves liquid metal, weakening it severely to the point severe long exposure will make the aluminium crumble into touch at the slightest touch. Hint: Try putting some on a Coke can as that is made of aluminium. Watch it explode after a while!
