They are betting big and being confident. Hope they are about to back it up. It's dangerous to flood the market, but it could also be a huge win if they created the demand to support doing it.

I hope we get switch 2 announcment soon!

​​@@UltrajamzMaybe but the Switch has been less than typical for them. They've undoubtedly made quite a bit from hardware already. It really might be smarter for them to announce before Christmas, (and be prepared for sales) get it out by Christmas in the USA while offering deep discounts on the original Switch hardware. Assuming that they promise some amount of forward compatibility with the upcoming software they'll both sell like crazy. Maybe even mirror the NES Christmas craze from the 80s.

If there’s no issue with semi conductors, I feel like all you have to do is build out at least 20-30 million units, store them in a storage factory and consistently restock vendors. I don’t see any reason to flood the market with product but instead have them ready to go and be shipped. The issue arises when they have to rush production. Just my two cents.

yes, there are a lot more handhelds around now. and PC is the "best" platform in terms of versatility, but I don't think most people buying switches are just getting it to be a handheld or care nearly as much about the graphics and other things as the people buying the handheld PCs. For one thing the Switch is stupid easy that anyone can figure it out, but a PC must be configured and tinkered with, that's why consoles still exist. Not everyone wants to tinker. I don't have a handheld PC cuz they're too expensive for me. And if I did have one I'd most likely still have a switch. I mostly use it docked, but the handheld function is nice(although I hate how the default joycons always feel like they could break off in that configuration. They never have, but I always notice it). I mainly have it for Breath of the Wild originally, but I've been loving what Nintendo's been putting out lately. Not ALL of it, but I'm seeing a lot of nostalgia and returns to form for certain series that have been making me very happy. Do I wish it had some better specs so certain games didn't have to look as bad/be cut down as much as they are? Sure, but it's not a priority. I have yet to find a game that's just too ugly or poorly performing to play, and the gyro aiming option in almost every switch port is REALLY nice. And as long as I can tell what objects are supposed to be, I'm okay with it. I don't need photorealism, I just want fun games.

They are probably stock piling the new system so when it gets announced there will be enough of them to go around, similar to how they took a year to polish up TOTK. Taking a year to stock up before announcing this system would allow them to release it soon after the reveal. IDK...

It better to have a little more than have none at all at release. For me I’m there on day one just like I was with the original release and oled release. So let’s go. 😂😅

No, I don't. Video before this was about Nintendo's business strategy with game sales, the one before this was an update on Metroid Prime 4, the one before it was about stats for the Nintendo Direct, before that was a sponsored video on biomutant, before that was new details for echoes of wisdom, before that was new footage for MP4... before that was the direct announcement, before that was 3 straight vidceos hyping up the direct. Before that was a sponsored video for a projector... another leak vidoe related to the direct... then we finally get back to Switch 2.. on June 4th. Or basically - a month ago. In fact, that was my only Nintendo Switch 2 published video in the month of June. The rumors slowed down. The only reason we talked about it again here, is because Furukawa talked about it.

My concern with this tactic is hoping the switch 2 console have no hardware problem and get a massive recall or send it back to get it repair or replace which can be a financial blow to the company

It is not really possible that it does not sell well, unless they are stupid enough to not have backwards compatibility, but if it does, they can produce millions, even ten or fifteen million and the demand will be there.

Look this sounds good, but was limited quantity the main issue? I mean, from what I heard, scalpers would buy dozens or possibly hundreds with bots. In other words, it's more an issue of bots than raw quantity. Hope I'm wrong.

A bunch of high priced, barely portable handhelds, with poor battery life, all competing in the same space, where 3-5 million units in sales would be considered a runaway success... ...Is hardly a threat to the space in which Nintendo had carved out for themselves. No disrespect to those devices, but it's laughable when people suggest that the handheld PC market is any kind of threat to Switch 2. It will have little to no effect on Switch 2, except to excite THAT base for a powerful handheld that's a viable portable device, that can actually ADD something new to their experience - an ecosystem of games not available in the PC handheld space! That's the power of IPs! This is why it's essential for Nintendo to grow them, protect them, AND ensure that their consoles are the main place to enjoy them. The moment they give that up, chasing after a short-term profit associated with porting games to other platforms... that's the moment where their long-term business model implodes. They would have lost what made them special in the first place, because; in addition to selling great games, Nintendo consoles allows them to sell consumers "a mode/manner of play" that's not possible/common elsewhere.

Trouble Nintendo will have in the market is selling remakes for $70 or 80 whilst PC handheld hardware will cost more but have very cheap new games.

1. This video does not talk about it releasing in 2025. 2. This video discusses something Furukawa told investors last week about the launch of the platform. You called it fake news. This video is quoting Furukawa last week. You're jumping to conclusions without actually watching the video, as it's clear you don't even know what we're talking about. :P
