    Very nice details! I went on and watched 2 additional preview videos for Latif’s instructional on BJJ Fanatics and it looks like direct continuation of the current video. I think you guys should also upload those 2 videos here on the channel since it’s already ready and free, viewers of the channel will definitely enjoy those as well. As for me I’m really interested and will be getting it for sure.

    ive been doing this strangle for over 25 years, the deep oldschool grip on the biceps is almost impossible to hit on bigger people with some experience plus the bladed contact on the opps neck often leads to more of a painful neck crank than a propper strangle. Plus my version 2.0, where i grab my own forearm near the wrist instead, is far more difficult to counter...... Love from germany, Oss!!

    So if you were set up as in this video, your right arm would grab your left forearm near the wrist? Thanks

    Good video. Anyone aware would definitely start ringing all kinds of alarm bells once that hand wraps around the neck guillotine style. His right hand will for sure start fighting this. Never hurts to try though.

    Thank you Marius! Catching a wary opponent will always be hard indeed. But in between fighting for the choke and defending it, is were you can create room to escape and recover guard. It is always a game.

    isn't that bottom player very susceptible to the von flue though? seems like the perfect setup for it, plus the top player just needs to drop his hips and leaves no space for the bottom player to get his arm through to set up the choke. what am I missing here?

  • @WimDeputterBJJ

    The Von Flue Choke is a possibility yes. But just like with everything, it is a game. Both players have their options and the game needs to be played. Which game should you invest your time in? That is a personal matter. Plants always grow better where you water them.

    I will have to try this. But I’m a little worried of him using his left forearm into your neck for the paper cut choke.

  • @WimDeputterBJJ

    @WimDeputterBJJ

    Жыл бұрын

    It works really great. Even if your opponent escapes, you can usually use his action to recover your guard or stand up. Don't worry about the papercutter. He needs his both arm for that and even then it is hard if your face is turned away. The forarm is at most a bit annoying.

    I'm not sure what applies pressure to the left carotid. I can see the arm against the right, but it looks like nothing is pressing the left except the abs. My abs are not hard enough to cause a choke this way ;-)

    IMO, it would work but it would be a low % attack/counter because once you are in side control it would rain shoulder pressures. But still, a beautiful set-up

  • @WimDeputterBJJ

    @WimDeputterBJJ

    2 жыл бұрын

    It is quite low percentage indeed to finish the choke if the opponent is aware. It really alleviates the pressure if you keep one shoulder up. But, the real beautybof this technique, is that you can be a threat from a "bad position", make the opponent more cautious and, once you go for it and the opponent defends, you get space for an escape.

    if you have an opponent that has side control like that just bridge him over and get on top, his near side arm is trapped under your head you have compromised his posture by bringing down his neck, frame on his hip with your other arm bridge and roll, you get points plus get in a dominate position no reason to attack with this hell mary of a choke attempt.

  • @WimDeputterBJJ

    @WimDeputterBJJ

    Жыл бұрын

    You are right. This is just a demo though. This choke comes into play, after you did your bridge and the opponent starts to walk / shift his weight backwards. For the sweep to work, you need to break posture (as you said). You need the proper angle and weight distribution. If you have just the angle and posture broken, you go for the choke. In case you do bridge over, you can still finish the same choke from top.

    Hey Jay! Thanks a lot for subscribing 😊 All espaces are pretty much the same. Either rotate and extend or flex and roll through. Easier said than done of course. I will make a live rolling video where I try to escape the ninja choke. Sounds good? 😊

  • @WimDeputterBJJ

    @WimDeputterBJJ

    Nothing works on high level grapplers, until it does. Most people in the world aren't high level grapplers. If you are in bottom side control, you messed up before. If it's not a competition, there are great options to keep you safe and bide your time to get out. If you are in competition and behind on points, any option is a tool in the bag. Not a single technique works by itself, but in combination they all work.

  • @lamineboulahbal2051
