Ive got an 08 250 with an intermitant slap noise that im thinking is the CCT, its pretty low milage (13K), any ideas on whats going on in there?

You have to keep it retracted while installing because the spring-loaded tension arm ratchets and will not retract as you install it, potentially damaging the cam chain if you bolt it down while not holding it in the retracted position. Don’t remove the CCT unless you need to remove the cams or something, like you would when adjusting the valves. If you just need to reset the CCT to see if it somehow got slightly too tight and is causing extra noise/wear on the cam chain, you should not remove it. You should only remove the cap and then blindly retract and release it with a flat blade screwdriver to see if that relieves your issue.
