Ilan is a badass drummer and a great teacher. Love these lessons and the stainless steel drums, too. I think the most important, overarching point he mentioned is staying with an exercise for some time and experimenting and having fun with it. Kind of turning it into a meditation. Ideally, you should be able to play everything slow and fast, quiet and loud, on different drums and cymbals, with your left and right hand etc. Just enjoying the exercise and making it musical, not just having it be a means to an end.

Illan, you're the man! My favorite NiN drummer, by far.... and I would do just about anything for a Q drum set, such as yours. I know Danny from Tool plays a kit made out of melted down cymbals.. Of course I'll go look up the answer to my question next from now, but, I might as well just ask for the hell of it, does Q drums make a kit from recycled cymbals? Hehehahoo. Anyhow, solid and simple tutorial - something I've never thought to do, being a double kick pedal fanatic, and a stegosaurus, first and foremoist.

@@CaptData1 Yeah, sorry, I don't have access to my 200k watt pa system right now. Dude, no, I'm talking about when he stops playing you can hear the ringing of the drums as they sound uncompressed. The compression on the recording of the drums, whether you are listening through a piezo speaker or an 18" sub-woofer, as way harsh.
