I've been patiently waiting for this official announcement. I thought Nikon didn't want my money anymore. I'm definitely buying one this year.

Thanks for the information, without the hype! I like the small form of the z6ii and it new to me as of last fall. I may consider it down the road.

I've got a Z6, Z6II, and Z7II. I don't think I could live with out the 45mp sensor and I dont shoot video. Maybe I should pass on the Z6III and wait for a higher MP version? We will see.

Thanks for your thoughts about the specs and the price, Ray. Some other folks have suggested it will be $2000 US, but your suggestion of about $2400 seems more reasonable. In addition to a pair of D750s, which I absolutely loved, I have and have always enjoyed using a Z6ii, but I bought a Z8 last May and have become a huge fan of it's autofocus capabilities. I mostly shoot fashion, and by the end of a 4 hour shoot that Z8 feels pretty heavy. So what the heck - I called my local camera store and they've put me on the pre-order list for the Z6iii. I can't wait to get it!

* 1/8000 top shutter speed for Z6/6II 👍🏻 Always excited for a new Nikon release! Having the Z8 and Zf, the Z6III isn't a need for me (but for sure a WANT) since my current two have me well covered. But man I'd love a Z6III and MB-N14 grip.

Add much as I would love to buy the Z6III, I already have the ZF. I'm not letting go of it and I don't have the cash to buy another camera. It's still awesome that the Z6III is going to be an outstanding camera.

I'm off to the VIP launch event in Toronto on Monday. Looking forward to seeing what this camera can do over the Zf and Z8. For me, the Z6 is the best Z camera Nikon have ever made (for photography). It's still my primary camera for commercial work. It can do everything I need it to, with the exception of good eye-tracking auto focus when needed.

It'll be nice to see the shutter shield, with a 33 mega pixel sensor (Nikon already has a nice core of 24 mp cameras) and a full rotating articulate touch screen. I currently have the original Z6, Z8 and D780 (in my opinion, all three are awesome cameras); The official specs may sway a decision on if I add another camera. At one point, I was guessing the 6III would mirror the Zf, but in a larger body and have the upgradeable tech for Red's video features.

I wouldn't want a slow 33mp sensor as the one in the Sony. Add to that the added noise of that sensor, the performance hit in both video and stills, and thanks, but no thanks. If I want something not focused on speed and performance, then rather a z7 III, with 60 MP or beyond. That's more along my lines than a the z6 series anyway. My z7 nodds approvingly...

I purchased the ZF and love it .. but will probably add the Z6 iii after I sell some of my Fuji Gear

I also have the OG Z6, I also skipped the Z6II. We'll see how far under the poor house Nikon wants to put me for the third incarnation. Provided as I suspect, it's worthy of the commitment.

I'd bet on it. The Expeed 7 is a beast. Good time to buy the Z8 though.

I hope they’re NOT using the sensor from Zf. It will be useless for precapture because of slow readout speed - 51ms.

I've been anxiously awaiting this since my Z6II went in a river last summer (still works, sort of)...I knew it got pushed off for the release of the Zf...then I knew it got pushed off for the 'Red' announcement...but it's FINALLY here. I hope the 'improved' screen is an actually full 'flip out' screen, not this 'vari-angle' nonsense...Nikon hates flip out screens for some reason. I didn't buy the Zf...for two reasons. I knew the second I did the z6III would come out (that's how my luck works) and the ergonomics made me hesitant, I 'really' like the Z6 ergos. But if my current Z6II had crapped out, I may have bought the Zf. I'm really hoping to see Xpeed 7, flip out screen, vastly improved AF, and I'm curious about pre-capture. I'm also VERY curious at the price point...hoping for a $1999 US ($2700 CDN) price point.

Hi Jason. Sorry to hear about the Z6II "Christening." I can relate: drowned a D600 in the ocean. Saltwater bath incompatible with electronics. Different strokes department: I don't like flippy screens -- the one thing that bugs me about the Zf. So that would maybe be a deciding factor ... if I decide to buy a Z6III at all. It would be nice to see Z6III under $3000CAD. We can hope.

@@RaymondParkerPhoto yeah always make sure that tripod plate is ‘locked in’! Uugh salt water for you, no fun, at least mine was fresh water! Mine still functions I just have to take out the battery to turn it off! I want the flippy screen mainly because I use the camera to film myself, thus that would be a nice addition. Sub $3K CDN would be lovely for this the Z6II is currently selling at $1999 CDN right now so I’m hopeful! 😎📸

@@RaymondParkerPhoto ouch…mine was me standing in the middle of a river photographing a waterfall…and the clamp on my tripod wasn’t fully tightened…sigh. At least it was fresh water! Bring on that Z6III!

I will not get if it is 24mega pixels as I already have a bunch of 24mega pixels camera.

Fair enough. But I think the Z6III will be more than its sensor size.

I’m currently a nikon DSLR shooter. I haven’t made the switch to mirrorless due to the auto focus on nikons mirrorless cameras isn’t as good as Canon or Sony. I do quite a bit of bird photography so good autofocus is important to me. The Z8 and Z9 are too expensive so I’m hoping this new Z6iii will be competitive enough to make the switch.

I wouldn't worry about any autofocus deficit. Nikon has shown with the Z9 and Z8 ... not to mention the Zf, what they can do with the Expeed 7. The autofocus holds its own.

would it be possible that nikon z6 iii has no mechanical shutter since it has pre-capture?

I wonder if the mention of more colors is referring to a video LUTS library like Panasonic developed? Is that idea going to catch on? I would love it if the LCD screen was vari-angle like the one used on the most recent Sony cameras. Sony coined that term so let's hope so. Steve Perry and Rachel Bigsby (both wildlife photographers) have both said they are test shooters for the Z6iii so there is going to be some obvious autofocus improvements. I thought this was going to be their speed camera for sports, but there are rumors that Nikon has patented a Z9H for that purpose, with 24 MP and global shutter. I would think that would be too late for the Olympics, but with the RED acquisition, who knows?

Probably not interesting for me, but I'm urgently waiting for the 35mm f/1.2 😢

So content creators / others, have the camera for some days now. Fro' made it clear in a video today he has. Info. NDA and embargo. Let's see what it is. My first Z is Zf from earlier this years. For personal walk around city travel. portrait of group of friends once a year. I'd just a well trade in 2 DX bodies and get a new higher end Z DX and keep Zf and D810 and have lots of F mount and a few Z to go on them.

The z6’s the best Nikon ever made with d200, d700, d3, d3x the real thing for those pro color seekers is that the color science in general in Canon is a passion for the eye

If I only had Full Frame, I’d love this… but I have DX for street / travel, so I am hoping for a DX level Z8 to be next. I would consider a Z7III as long as it has the xspeed7

@@RaymondParkerPhoto yeah… but it is smaller than the Z8 and less expensive. I love everything about the Z8 except for the size and price - pack that in a DX and you have the perfect camera for my needs. I need a higher resolution than the Z6 or Zf so I can use my DX glass without much loss (if I opt for full frame)

Nikon Z6III is more exciting than Apple AI news for me...:)

They never stop coming up with ways to separate us from our money 🤣. Always nice to see new technology coming out though. I have an origianl Z7 and a ZFC that I migh have to part with depending on the specs of this new Z6.

The Z 8 has 5.5 stops of 5-axis IBIS (6.0 stops when using a NIKKOR Z lens that supports Synchro VR4).
