    What's so cool is I have a D850 and have used other nikon DSLR's and you can just pick this up and instantly the controls are familiar! Its a testament to how Nikon's stuck to a proven good formula over all these years.

    You had it right the first time....the MB15 IS a battery grip, holding six batteries...the motor drive is inside the camera. It's a wonderful accessory as it's designed for horizontal and vertical grippage! Thanks for the video! I'm dusting off my F100 after 20 years and looking forward to shooting some film again!

    The reason the Cs sounds almost the same as the C is a user can choose the exact frame rate of Cs from 1 fps all the way to the same frame rate of C. In this case, the Cs was set the be the same frame rate as C.

    Quick question. My aperture dial doesn't seem to work. Is it locked? I have the lens set up at F22 as you said, but when I rotate the aperture dial it is just stuck at F2. I don't see it say L anywhere on top of F2. Program, shutter priority and manual (shutter only) all works. But I can't seem to get it to work with aperture priority or change the aperture on manual. Hope you can help me. Thanks!

    The sticky back was also a problem with a few different Nikon DSLRs. My Nikon D70s developed a sticky body. I solved the problem by applying 92% alcohol (99% alcohol is even better but it is hard to find and expensive). NOTE: Common 70% Rubbing Alcohol WILL NOT WORK. Rub the alcohol all over the body about 5 times with a cleaning rag to remove all of the stickiness. Once the stickiness is gone, you will notice it now has a dull finish. Wipe the body down with 3 or 4 Armor-All wipes to restore the shine. I treated my D70s over 6 years ago and the stickiness never returned.

    That back toggle/dial is for autofocus area focus - spot focus (uses selected point), or dynamic focus (will utilize all 5 focus points) =)

    The MB-15 is a BATTERY grip because the F100 already has a motor drive built in to forward the film from frame to frame. If you look at the top deck of the camera, the F100 does NOT have a film wind crank like older manual cameras did. Th MB-15 is much like the battery grips for the various DSLRs that followed the F100 as well as those designed to work with the Z6II and Z7II.

    I had a Nikon F100 - It was the very BEST Nikon camera for the dollar spent. Great features, and great capabilities, but NOT the "best" because it was hardly designed to be the BEST of the best. Just best for the money, and worth every penny, unlike a few other camera which cost 2 or 3 times as much money.

    A couple of important things could have made this review more complete. 1) that the F100 has a weak door latch that's prone to breaking. There's a fix that can be Googled, and 2) both the F100 and F80 can use VR and third party OS stabilized lenses. One other thing: f16 is the smallest aperture, not the largest. Otherwise, thumbs up.

    Can you use the lenses that fit the F100 NIKON ON THE NIKON DIGITAL CAMERAS?

  • @Superbustr

    @Superbustr

    2 жыл бұрын

    The F100 natively was designed to use AF-D lenses. You can use AF-D lenses on all Nikon DSLRs. Although AF-D lenses may not be compatible on Nikon's new digital mirrorless cameras without an adapter. As a side note, you can use old manual focus Nikkor AI and AIS (excluding pre-ai) on pretty much every Nikon Film or digital camera ever made (excluding Nikon film rangefinders).

  • @GirdHerd

    @GirdHerd

    My understanding is you can use all modern auto focus F-mount lenses on the F100. I have the F4s that will not allow me to use my G series lenses in the fully manual mode because there is no aperture ring on the G lenses. With my newly purchased F100 I will be able to use full Manual mode because the F100 has the aperture dial on the front of the camera body.

    Jens A this is a common problem with the f100. Set the iso manually, fire the shutter button, remove the batteries. One of these things works for me every time. Sometimes firing the shutter is the only way to clear it. Very annoying. Also for some reason using the depth of field button will cause this problem. I changed the setting to not read the dx of the film and always set the film speed manually. I haven’t had an err message since.

    If you plan to shoot a lot of film I recommend investing in a decent film scanner. It’ll pay for itself after 10-15 rolls of developed film. If someone wants to buy a print then take your negative to a lab and get a high quality scan and print but if it’s for your blog or instagram then your own scan will look just fine. I realized this after developing 2 rolls with scanning adding $10 per roll

    The way you closed that door will break the latch and there are no new doors. You want to open the lock then close it. I have a useless F100 because the latch broke and there are more F100 without doors for resale than with for parts. Excuse me. But it is the largest number and smallest aperture!! It's almost often in a different color.

    Use Windex and a soft toothbrush on the sticky back, takes some elbow muscle. Alcohol seems to make it worse. I really like using the F100 next to my D700, almost ideal twins.

    Ruy Horta wrong. Rubbing alcohol works great at getting it off. I've done two F100 backs using alcohol and a cotton cloth.

    Rediscover Film I started with 70% alcohol and cotton pads and the rubber only got stickier and the cotton stuck as well. So dunno about wrong, because I don't know what rubbing alcohol is, but if it us like our 70% alcohol my experience is different than your's. I won't say you are wrong, but In my experience Windex worked better.

    Excuse me, sir. But you are wrong!! You should set the smallest aperture/largest number on the lens, to change aperture on the camera body!! On some lenses, you can even lock the aperture. I have had the F100 for over twenty years, so I know! Photo greetings Liselotte in Karlstad, Sweden.

    You are correct. The lens needs to set on the smallest aperture (usually f22) and locked in place if the lens has a locking lever. His 50mm f1.8D does have the locking lever.
