I’ve a pretty comprehensive set of Nikkor vintage lenses from 20mm to 300mm. I have the 28mm f3.5. THE 28 to have is the f2.8 AIS, but it’s going price is typically £180 or more. I love Nikkor lenses. As you’ve said, they all exude quality, both optically and mechanically. The other key benefit of them is they are easy to disassemble and repair/clean. A big 👍 from me for Nikkors!

Yeah, they get pricey fast! I was expecting them to be a little overrated, but they do hold up to their fame!

With this lens, you need the AIS version which had updated optics. It has the reputation of being a marked improvement over the earlier versions which had different optics. I have not owned the earlier versions so cannot comment personally but I did own the AIS version and it was excellent.

Very nice video again, Marco! I don't have a Nikkor 28mm myself, looks good, is it on pair with the Canon equivalents? My favourite Nikon lenses is the 50mm 1.4 you're about to test, and the 35mm 2.0.

Love Nikkor lenses. Have an early 28 3.5, would definitely like to aquire a 28 2.8 ai just a little to $$ for a focal length I don't use a lot. Looking forward to the 50 1.4 video, that lens is a love it or hate it.

I was lucky and got the 28 and the 50 for around 40€ a piece. I'm working on the review of the 50, but I haven't formed an opinion, yet. For now I can say that I wasn't expecting that much of a difference between a 1.8 and a 1.4, especially because I've been shooting with a Sigma 30mm 1.4 for years.

Yeah, sometimes you find that one set of lenses that is just perfect for you! I've enjoyed using this Nikkor and I was positively surprised by its quality, but here in Italy they are easily twice as expensive than Canon FDs and hard to find...

The Nikon D7200 is crop sensor F mount camera which has no problem with AI, or the newer AI-s lenses. The lenses you don't want to mount are the PRE-AI lenses, or the ones made before the AI lenses.
