The lens nails the landscape so crisp, from my trip to a citadel city

It is indeed quite sharp!
I’ve a pretty comprehensive set of Nikkor vintage lenses from 20mm to 300mm. I have the 28mm f3.5. THE 28 to have is the f2.8 AIS, but it’s going price is typically £180 or more. I love Nikkor lenses. As you’ve said, they all exude quality, both optically and mechanically. The other key benefit of them is they are easy to disassemble and repair/clean. A big 👍 from me for Nikkors!

Yeah, they get pricey fast! I was expecting them to be a little overrated, but they do hold up to their fame!

i got the 28mm f2.8 AI in a pack together with a 50mm f2 AI and a nikon fm

Does the Ai lens work well?
With this lens, you need the AIS version which had updated optics. It has the reputation of being a marked improvement over the earlier versions which had different optics. I have not owned the earlier versions so cannot comment personally but I did own the AIS version and it was excellent.

I'll keep that in mind 😉
Short and sweet - look forward to the 50mm review!

I've been wanting one of these, for a while now. Although preferrably the f2.

28mm f2 sounds pretty sexy!
Very nice video again, Marco! I don't have a Nikkor 28mm myself, looks good, is it on pair with the Canon equivalents? My favourite Nikon lenses is the 50mm 1.4 you're about to test, and the 35mm 2.0.

I'm working on a comparison between the Nikkor and the Canon FD, I'm expecting them to be on the same level!
Love Nikkor lenses. Have an early 28 3.5, would definitely like to aquire a 28 2.8 ai just a little to $$ for a focal length I don't use a lot. Looking forward to the 50 1.4 video, that lens is a love it or hate it.

I was lucky and got the 28 and the 50 for around 40€ a piece. I'm working on the review of the 50, but I haven't formed an opinion, yet. For now I can say that I wasn't expecting that much of a difference between a 1.8 and a 1.4, especially because I've been shooting with a Sigma 30mm 1.4 for years.

@@MarcoAries nice, 40£ was a steel for the 28
My main set of lenses for shooting video are Nikon AI-S primes... I feel that they have the right amount of character.

Yeah, sometimes you find that one set of lenses that is just perfect for you! I've enjoyed using this Nikkor and I was positively surprised by its quality, but here in Italy they are easily twice as expensive than Canon FDs and hard to find...

@@MarcoAries True... they can get a little pricey. (and sometimes the newer AF-D versions are cheaper)
I had an 85mm F1.8. Was really neat.

80/85 are ridiculously hard to find, of any brand... The only one I had was a medium format CZJ 🤣
Looks pretty good to me.

Thanks for this great video. I just want to ask if AI lenses are compatible with nikon d7200?

Thanks for the support. I don't use Nikon cameras, so I can't say for sure, but they should be compatible.

I've heard that it might happen, yes, but I don't know which cameras and lenses cause that, there should be a compatibility chart somewhere.

The Nikon D7200 is crop sensor F mount camera which has no problem with AI, or the newer AI-s lenses. The lenses you don't want to mount are the PRE-AI lenses, or the ones made before the AI lenses.
Great video and great lens. I have one. RS. Cao

Looks like a decent lens, similar to my Mir-10A 28mm f/3.5 but perhaps with a bit more CA. And lighter/less bulky of course.

Comparing Soviet and Japanese lenses is always interesting, you can see al the differences in design and construction!
Is this optically the same as the Nikkor 28mm f2.8 AF?

how much price for that lens now?

Hard to say, it varies a lot based on where you are in the world. Here they go for anywhere in between 50 and 120 euros...

This lens has been out if production for decades, there are no new ones
I'd both AIS 28/2.8 & AI 28/2.8. AIS is better in short distance and AI is better in far end. :)

hey i got the lens too, paired with my fm2n fg and f90. good lens. but i plan on ditching both with milvus 35/2 for compact all rounder lens. i already got milvus 50 (i got mint secondhand for 450 bucks)
