    Thank you Sara! I picked this pattern as my first garment to sew with knits, but I've been a little intimidated to start. I can't wait to try it- your video helped make me feel ready to give it a go.

    Thanks for the video Sara! ❤ I've never thought of polo necks being beginner-friendly - such a good point that you made about the neckline. I feel more comfortable with knit fabrics by now but this would still be a great staple to make. I have sewn the Dani pants from True Bias twice and I find her instructions to be very good!

    Great video, thank you for sharing this tutorial! I noticed that you didn't stabilise the shoulder seams with clear elastic or anything. Do you usually not do that with knit fabrics? I've been trying to find the best and easiest method. Thanks!

    I decide whether to use stabilizer on shoulders depends on the fabric! My rib knit won't grow so I didn't use anything! :)

    @@SewingTherapy Ah ok, thank you for replying and explaining. I haven't worked with rib knit for the body of the garment before but that makes sense. I'm trying to find the best and easiest method for stabilising knit fabrics at the shoulders so wondered what you do. I tried to attach clear elastic with the overlocker but it did not want to work on my machine! I would love to see one of your short tutorials on stabilising the shoulders! They are really helpful 😊

    lovely....I am making the sleeveless right now....do you prefer the twin needle over an coverstitch hem? Also, on the sleeveless, is it better to just use a zig zag instead of the coverstitch to secure the arm facing? mine seems to have trouble going over humps and at some intersections there are 8 layers jump over, (where it joins at the seams....because she has you iron the seams open...thanks...I'm an advance beginner with a brand new combo serger/coverstich and sewing knits is totally new to me...if fact, I think I prewashed my knit fabric too aggressively and the stripe and the grain were off...so to get the stripe lined up on the sides the shirt hangs a bit twisted...I'm learning....ugh....any advice? thanks you do beautiful work!

    I have a coverstitch machine, but I rarely use it, so I can't make a comparison. But, I find that using a twin needle works perfectly for me! ☺️

    My sewing machine is straight stitch only. Is it possible to construct the Nikko Top with my serger?

    Yes, it is! It is possible to construct the Nikko Top using a serger only, though it may require some adjustments.

    Hi there from the U.K., I’m about to start this pattern with rib knit and notice you didn’t use elastic on the shoulder seams to stabilise?

  • @SewingTherapy

    @SewingTherapy

    It depends on the fabric. If the fabric has good elasticity and doesn't stretch much, you don’t need to use any stabilizer for the shoulder area.

    How do you get your seams so straight, when you cut out your material I have such a problem with that
