Basanta asks the inspector of police to see to it that Trilochon is held accountable for his wrongdoings. Disha tells Sujata that Nikhil is having supper with Shyama at a restaurant. But after giving Shyama's offer some thought, Nikhil consents to eat at a roadside stand. Disha asks Basanta to help him work out his issues with Sujata. When Basanta lets them know that Trilochon has been taken into custody, Rukmini confides in Disha her concerns. Later, Nikhil receives criticism from Sujata for eating unhealthily.

The protagonist of the tale is a dark-skinned girl named Shyama, who aims to eradicate the shame associated with color. She marries Nikhil and experiences prejudice because of her skin tone. She embarks on a quest to forge her own identity as a gifted vocalist. Shyama thinks her skin tone is similar to Lord Krishna's. Following her marriage, she pursues a career in music, which completely transforms her life. Although Shyama's mother-in-law despises her, over the course of a few years, she grows to love her and even lets her sing.
