Nike ZoomX Streakfly. A 5K-10K Racer? Not Really. It's a Pleasant Trainer, the Lightest Ever!

Спорт

I share my initial run impressions of the ZoomX Streakfly. Called out by Nike as a 5K-10K racer I think it is something else, the lightest trainer ever created (at 6 oz / 170g for a big 32/26 stack height with a pleasant well cushioned, stable ride and a nice snappy flex. Th It is not the harsh fast Streakfly of old!
See why including comparisons to the Rebel v2 and Puma Liberate Nitro in the video.
I did not run the Takumi Sen 8 to compare but fellow RTR reviewer Ryan Eiler did and compares in his written Streakfly review here:

The Zoom X Streakfly was a personal purchase.

Thank you, Sam! As a fast and crazy-light road trainer, the StreakFly is a real breakthrough. I would want and (at age 58) need a little more stiffness and support for racing 10 k and above, but the VaporFly and some of the other super shoes are already ready to serve! I also am enjoying the Adidas Takuni Sen 8 but prefer the Adidas for track and speed work.

Thanks for highlighting this as a great training shoe. We get too excited about shoes for races, when training miles is where you spend most of your time in a shoe. As a fan of the Puma Liberate Nitro, I found the Streakfly to be as comfortable, but more aggressive and easier to hit faster paces than the Liberate. Nitro. I am happy that Nike finally made a fast shoe that you can train in on a daily basis. Will probably still use the Liberate Nitro for easy runs just because I can get them at half the cost with discounts.

The Streakfly is a better choice over carbon plates racers for 5k races. Carbon plates racers are great for some and great for some shorter races but they truly shine on the long runs. The Streakfly is way more nimble and light. Extremely satisfying to run my last 5k race in. Didn't hurt I killed my last P.R. by 26 seconds. But to each his own. I will choose the Streakflys over my Saucony endorphin pro2 and speed 2 for races from here on out. Anything over a 5k race I will choose the carbon plated or nylon plated shoes.

I did my first run in mine yesterday. I was trying to do km repeats at half marathon pace, but I didn't get that slow until the 5th km...and then my Garmin died. need more testing! Definitely a fun shoe..I think it is the shoe I hoped the Rebel V2 would be after seeing all the reviews of that shoe. I find there is a little bit of ground feel compared to some of the higher stack shoes, but my legs were protected and felt great after still...after my very short harder than planned run on tired legs.

Do you think this would be a good light weight gym shoe? I know it’s not the best for gym but it is minimal and since the stack is low I feel like I could use theme functional days and maybe even alittle heavier lifts. Thoughts?

I made the mistake of going a size up, usually have to in most Nike shoes. Probably could have gone a half size down. Ran a sub 20 park run on a new, quite a hilly course with a couple of miles warmup and a mile cool-down. Not sure if my Vapourfly or Alphafly would have ran faster but a great soft light shoe for shorter distance. My legs were feeling a little beaten up for a couple of days though, could have been a coincidence, more runs will tell. Well worth trying these out though.

It sure is a roomy upper for a Nike race shoe but just works and well. Kind of more of a trainer upper really in fit and feel but secure. It could be your legs were beaten up by to much motion in the shoe due to its size? I walked away with zero soreness the next day from a 10K in them.

Great review. I have the Invincible but they are to Clunky and unstable.. I have the Rebel V2 but the OUTSOLE is so soft (and midsole) that if I run over a rock my Metatarsal gets painful.. The Hyperion Tempo seems good for my runs... How is the OUTSOLE RUBBER of the Streekfly? Soft like Rebel V2 or hard like Hyperion Tempo? Thank you for your help.

It seems a track shoe but probably not enough space to write 5,000m /10,000 shoe. "5K" / "10K" are road races where rules don't ban stack height so most would do better with next%. These are niche - I don't believe so many people run track in flats / not spikes
