    Really impressed by most the the results shown here, gonna have to go out and put some solid miles in my pair of next%’s that have barely seen the light of day since purchase😅 Jokes aside this was a incredibly useful video to put together Ed, big thanks for spearheading the idea and as well to everyone who contributed to make it happen!

    This is a really good review. I have 4%'s and Next%'a and have been keeping them for use close to and racing days as I have been under the impression that there is not much mileage in these shoes. Well, obviously there can be decent mileage. So now with the postponement of London marathon and other races I had planned, I will use these shoes more often without having to worry they will die a short untimely death...

    I will be interested to see your review on durability of Alphafly after 100 miles. Nike have certainly broken the mould in producing the Alphafly with midsole profile and the air pods. I am interested to see how air pods last as based on this video of Next% durability I would have to say that they are worth the $$$. The fact that Nike are restocking the Next% because there is a demand for it is testimony that it is a shoe that ticks all the boxes for a long distance race day shoe. Stay safe and keep the great vlogs coming. We all need some distractions and things to look forward to during this lockdown period and your vlogs certainly provide that Edd. 👍

    Good summary. I think the ZoomX foam is a lot more durable than people think. I got my pair of the Turbo first edition over 500 miles which is more than have run in any shoe ever. The original 4% I got to about 250 miles but largely stopped using them when the NEXT% came along and fitted me better as could get the UK 13 in those but they had rather lost their pop for sure. As you mentioned I have got one pair of NEXT% to 246 miles and think will continue to use that pair for some up tempo training. Ought to be able make 300 miles at least in them and already it has cost me less than £1 per mile. In contrast, the Zoom Fly 3 is currently on £2 per mile and not likely to improve much! The Carbon X is even worse at around £3 per mile.

    This is a really good review!! I mostly do interval style workouts, consisting of 3-5 miles/5-8 km. Will throw a 5k and 10k time trail in there a couple times a year... About half of the workouts I do on the track (when I find the time to go there). Right now I (stilll) run in the original Nike Zoom Fly. My guess is that the Alpha Fly will drop in Europe either on the 8th or the 9th of April. Should I just go for the new Vaporfly colorway or hope to get a pair of the Alphas when they drop, for this purpose? Will be using them as my "only" running shoes for 1-2 workouts a week. Thanks EDD!

    Great video Edd! I have a pair of VF 4% Flyknit and I can assure you that they are quite durable too. Anyway, I want know about the midsole: the rumor has it that foam dies after 100 miles. My VF 4% have 110 miles on them since I only used them for racing but they still feel fresh (obviously, not as fresh and bouncy as they felt out of the box but I don't think that any shoe can feel the same after 100 miles) . So, my question is: how many miles before the zoom x loses the magic? I mean, my PT 2 have almost 150 miles on them and feel great but they are part react too.

  • @EDDBUD

    @EDDBUD

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Luis! I guess it’s hard to equate exactly when a midsole begins to loose its luster. Different folks will have differing ideas. For me the next with 100 miles are still feeling really good. Other have still been using them with 200+. I guess if it’s an absolute key race, a marathon etc then over 26 miles you probably want a shoe that’s got the minimum miles into them. It’s in the eye of the beholder I think. Thanks for commenting and for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    Much more noticable abrasion on 4%s compared to next%s.

    Ricardo, these shoes stand the test of time and still provide good performance. Sometimes the hate against the next% is unwarranted. Glad you enjoyed the video. Stay safe 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    I’ve found that they lose a bit of their top end oompf after 80 ish racing miles and around 20 warm up miles, but still very good for training and faster than any other trainers I’ve used, ive done 200 miles on 2 pairs and still intend to keep using them, I’ve 60 racing miles on a third pair which I will save for when racing starts again

    Loved fan contributions. Thought the plate was good for only 100 miles so good to hear personal accounts on that not being so.
