I'd agree with the other comments saying it's more of a lifestyle shoe, especially in some Asian markets it is very popular for everyday use. I picked up the normal version at a running store and wow they are heavy (and the midsole felt so dense) - of course we are all spoiled nowadays with all those amazing modern foams. Great running footage as always Barry, the dog at the end was a nice bonus, I saw the ball the third time I watched it 🤣

Thanks Panos. I was very pleased with the dog and ball. I used to throw my ball every morning for the dog on the same beach. I am now travelling in these shoes. Luckily they are on my feet as otherwise I would have to pay excess baggage…!

@@ARVIthereyet On the day of the marathon the Garmin gave me a resting HR of 50 and a peak of 180bpm. This would be when I sprinted at the end. The Ring Conn gave me resting at 49 and a peak of 167bpm on the same day. At the moment they are both on my left hand and giving me matching heart rates if 54-60 bpm.

@@OldManRunner Cool. I will order the ring. Could be that it is not for the real athlete, but for everyday use for a ordinary people who sometimes do some sport it is accurate enough. And for everyday ordinary man I would even say that good sleep is more important than 100% accurate readings from your heart monitor etc. And with sleep I understand the ring is a perfect advisor.

Thank you for the review. Can you recommend the lightest and most comfortable running shoes for outdoor running? I have knee issues, so I'm looking for shoes with excellent cushioning for ladies or unisex. Thank you😊

  • @OldManRunner

My favourite shoe for running when I have knee problems is the Nike Invincible Run Flyknit. It is a medium weight shoe. Too light and you get little cushioning. Some people find it a bit bouncy but for me it is perfect if I have knee injuries which I get occasionally and have had an arthroscopy in one of my knees. Version 1 and 2 are almost identical with just the upper changing, Version 3 has a little less bounce. Hope this helps!

Nice review man. I was considering to get these for walking rather than running (weight), but I’m still a little bit concerned about sole. Is it slippery on wet pavement/sidewalk? I have Hoka ATR6 GTX version, but they’re almost done now, and they were quite slippy to be honest.

I have been away travelling for a week and only brought these. Walked 10000 to 20000 steps every day with some short runs in between and they were very comfortable. The soles are tacky and although the pavements have not been wet I double checked them in my shower which has a stone floor and the grip was good

fixin to order these shoes in the same exact colorway. one question I have for you, though, is does the midsole look as much like it’s a bright white color on top of of a black color w orange colored speckles in it, in person, as it does in pics online? like, I know the midsole is a tinted light blue color on top of purple inked color w orange colored speckles in it, but if I had never seen the actual color description, I’d have thought the midsole was ice white on top of black w orange speckles in it. either way, I’m gonna buy em’, reguardless, tbh. I’m just kinda curious, ig.

The top of the midsole is very light blue. The purple is very dark, almost black. To be honest I never notice the light blue or the purple, usually thinking of them as white or black. I was complemented on the colourway and design of the shoe the other day. I do like the colourway and have managed to keep the shoes clean despite a lot of wear in the winter.

  • @OldManRunner

A little bit harder but not by much. The material is not as absorbent as most fabrics and I have washed these down but they will likely get quite grubby after a time. They do look great in this colour. I imagine Nike will bring out more colours at some stage. Just checked again just now and they have added a wild pink in the women’s colours

Barry, how did you get that shot of the dog after your run towards the camera?! 10/10 And showing true commitment by showering to check how waterproof these are... I've done that before to wash mud off but never to test water resistance. Does gortex make your feet sweat more?

  • @OldManRunner

    @OldManRunner

I wondered would you like the dog shot. Glad you did. It was just one of those things. Down on the beach some people we’re playing with their dog. Just like I used to do. And there he was in the film. One of those things you see when you get back and spend time scrubbing through footage. I had to tweak the timing a little but that was about it. I don’t find Goretex makes my feet sweat more. I have some waterproof socks that I don’t use. It’s like someone put a plastic bag between some layers of fabric and they work but you feel sweat all over your feet afterwards. Great for walking in but not running…

I sometimes downstream shoes that I have finished running in and then walk in them to extinction. But typically I keep the ex-running shoes in a state where I can reasonably compare them with later versions of the shoes...So currently I walk in the Nike Motiva, Tomir WP and these. I expect I might do some running in these when I come to work, want to run midday and don't want to lug a scond pair of shoes. Really impressed with them for walking, but they are way too heavy for serious running and as you say they would be useless on a slippery field

I use this shoe every day for walking. I have 60 pairs of shoes, most of which I use for running, I use these for walking and occasional running. I would put them at 9/10 for comfort for me. The only downside is that they are heavy, but that is not much of a consideration walking.

Wow to think that alot of people train to get physically stronger are complaining about the weight of the shoe? How weak and spoilt have we humans become? Cant even lift a shoe? Dont get me wrong im not a runner or marathon athlete but im sure i dont have any problems wearing this shoe and go for a jog with it. I have tested this shoe today and yes they have a lil weight to it but not its not something my legs cant stride. This youtuber talks as if this shoe weights in at 5000 kilos lol. If you guys wanna buy shoes thr best is to go and try it for yourself. We all have different feet and different needs for a shoe so dony get fooled by this youtuber reviewing products.

Of course you can run in the shoe, I did yesterday and several other days. I run in it on days where I might run in the middle of the day and wear it the entire day, so I don't have to carry an additional pair of shoes. Many people buy shoes online and I try to make videos to point out the characteristics of the shoe before people buy. Just because a shoe is lighter does not make it better and vice versa. However studies show that an extra 100g can decrease performance by about 1%. On a short easy run that makes little difference. On a longer run that extra weight makes a difference, which can be significant depending on the distance and the pace. I would not use this shoe for long runs or races. Simply put you will tire sooner in this shoe. There are plenty of lighter, cheaper shoes, made by Nike and others that are better suited to those conditions. I bought the shoe with my own money and am not sponsored. As I said in the video I like the shoe and decided to keep it rather than return it..and I have 55 other pairs so I am not in any great need of another shoe. I put the facts out there as I find them so that people can get the best information before they buy a shoe.
