Hello Richard, yes I paint a white acrylic paint to serve as a primer for better paint adhesion.

one thing I know is that I would need a gripper for that good job

The Sharpie will not be erased :)

Can we do this with a normal Sharpie marker? not a laundry safe one. Is it going to rub off?

Do you need to seal the work once finished? I have read on a few places that the sharpies bleed in the rain etc so be prepared for colour on your socks etc when wearing in the rain or puddle splashes .

Hello Samantha, yes you need to seal the work by using Angelus matte finisher. It gives more protection and prevents from scratches. Sharpie can bleed in different situations. Sharpie's ink is permanent so you do not have to worry. Thanks for the information :)

Wit tht sharpie fade off since there's wax in the shoe and with no wax or protector over the sharpie even if it was stained marker Ull get dramatic wear easily

The ink from the marker really stays well. I just wiped off any dust before starting to draw.

I prepared the shoe by wiping it with a damp cloth. I think u can use acetone to remove dirt. :)

It will not fade if you apply a topcoat. I did not applied top coat on the sneakers though :) It will wear off naturally for about 1 year. :)

I tried drawing on my af1s using normal sharpie permanent marker but after couple of lines the sharpies will dry out and won't work anymore. You know any reason why or should I be using a different marker? thanks. Really nice job as well btw! It was what inspired me.

Thanks for watching the video. Here are some possible reasons: 1. The ink runs out. > Buy a new Sharpie 2. The surface is not clean. Try to clean the surface with alcohol or water, let it dry before drawing on it. 3. Try the Sharpie laundry safe marker. Thanks!

Thanks for replying! They were new sharpies and I had tried multiple different ones from different packs too but after drawing a few lines on they would dry up which is weird! Thanks for the suggestions Ill try clean the surface first and try buy that marker!

Permanent markers should work but not as long as laundry safe markers. Laundry safe markers stay permanent and fade free for one year.

I didnt wipe the shoe with a finisher. I let the paint wear off. Angelus paints are so rare here in Manila.

After wash... Will the paint on the shoe disappear..???

Hello nicole, the ink will fade if you do not apply a topcoat. But if a topcoat is applied, it can withstand minor scratches and fading.

@@Grace-mn4el Yes. It can remove oils. But I do not use it. as long as the surface is clean enough to paint, I will paint on it. :) I do not overthink. ^_^

You dont need to use acetone. You just need a clean surface for better paint adhesion. I use water and cloth to wipe off dirt.

Yes. because I did not apply a topcoat. It won't fade if you apply a topcoat. ex. Angelus matte finisher.

No, la tinta no se desvanecerá si aplicó un acabado (acabado mate Angelus). Sí, se desvanecerá poco a poco si realmente tratas de rascarlo con una toalla húmeda. aunque la tinta sea permanente. No, the ink will not fade if you applied a topcoat (Angelus matte finisher). Yes it will fade bit by bit if you really try to scratch it with a wet towel. even though the ink is permanent.
