Was only five in 1970 but I’ve heard and seen for myself just what a horse he was

Lester though Nijinsky was done by the time of the Arc. O'Brien agreed after the Champion Stakes. He'd had ringworm over the summer. The King George at the end of July was the last time we saw the real Nijinsky.

Nijinsky was not only a brilliant racehorse but also brilliantly named. Sired by Northern Dancer and named after the famous ballet dancer, Vaslav Nijinsky, who said on his death bed that he would return one day as a racehorse.

There's a horse racing in Australia at the moment, a 4yo mare, who is a great-grand daughter of Nijinsky. She is currently the worlds highest rating sprinter and its amazingly eerie the similarities in the which the two race. The controlled amble when all others in the race and at full stretch and the way in which they can both quicken over two or three strides. She is 10 wins from 10 starts and all on metro tracks. Compare yourself

@@michaelmoran9399 I particularly agree, but if it wasn't for Engelhard Nijinsky wouldn't have been a triple Crown winner, and he basically lost the Arc through a error, the Champion Stakes was obviously a race too many but they wanted him to leave on a winning note, but just like Baaeed this year, the Champion Stakes can come a little too late into the season.

@@nightowl7459 Don't forget the bout of ringworm he suffered mid season (post King George). For me it was THAT unfortunate illness that got him beat in the Arc. Black Cavier ran on greyhound tracks and couldn't have coped with British racecourses with their hills and cambers. She wouldn't have had any help from drugs that are banned in British racing either. Black caviee would beat every sprinter in Europe for the last 40 years. She's a sprinter. Not a miller. She did not race on greyhound tracks. The only horse I can think of that was easily faster was an American horse called Dr fager. He could give her 7lbs and a beating. Dr fager beat Fort Mace 2 lenghts in a. race carring 16lbs more in an old fashion grade 1 American handicap. This is group 1 racing. Sír Ivor Beat Fort Mace 2l at WFA over 10 furlongs as well level weight both on grass.. Dr fager was a sprinter. A 6 furlong horse running over 10f.He still holds the dirt record for 1 mile broken 54 year ago. But only a fool would under estimate black caviee.
