    Some say it was in wellington wells, the rats had a German accent, the piper offered a way to get rid of them. Only if it was the original version, the piper takes away the kids, thus it would be a perfect reference to the very bad thing.

    Jack had to alter the story, because telling a story about an entire town losing their children would bring back very VERY bad memories to everyone in Wellington Wells since it refers to "the Very Bad Thing" they did that made them resort to taking Joy in the first place
