Three of my top picks too.

The bass player Marco sings a lot. He often does harmonies but also has full sections and even songs to himself. He has a great duet on Phantom of the Opera with the original singer Tarja, well worth checking out. Otherwise you have opened a right can of worms. Anything from Wacken is gold. Wembley gig is also great. Pretty much all of the music and lyrics are by the keyboardist Tuomas, he is in my eyes a genius. Weak Fantasy is a favourite of mine, other suggestions you will get will include Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth, both are epic and I would suggest reading the lyrics to both first and the backstory to Poet as it adds a huge amount of gravitas. Hopefully you and your daughter will explore more of this band.

Wacken 2013 is metal’s live at Leeds

Ahhh yess! Ever Dream is one of my faves! :) Floor's voice is so good together with this band. They are just masters of their craft! Maybe you guys should try "I want my tears back" next. Its my favourite of them. Do the Wacken one, cause its better :) Loving your reactions! :D

Yes, I noticed it too and as a Pink Floyd's fan, since 1987, I have to say that Marco, Tuomas, Emppu and Jukka perform High Hopes in a great way. I just love it. I love watching their faces during this song... they are loving it, so much passion.

Ok, since you said you liked Marco's vocals there are a few songs where his vocals are more prominent/the focus: - The islander (live at Tampere for preference) - Phantom of the opera (End of an era live tour with Tarja - more operatic as the title suggests) - (kiss) While your lips are still red. Great reactions! It's nice to see younger folks getting interested in bands like this. I got hooked on Nightwish in the late 90s after accidentally stumbling across them on mp3.com. BTW, love the picture of Iceland on the wall. I lived there for two years. Awesome country and people!

Yep, I told you that Viking lookalike bassist dude (Marco Hietala) really can sing too. He's awesome! So remember my suggestion: Pink Floyd cover High Hopes in Helsinki 2005. Or if you are willing to listen Marco singing beautiful Nightwish ballad choose While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley 2016. Well, that High Hopes is a ballad too... Or if you want to hear him singing in Finnish try his brand new solo single called "Isäni Ääni" (Voice Of My Father). That is a ballad also! 😆 That Tuomas's keyboard set up based on Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius's monument in Helsinki. They used to play Sibelius's Finlandia Hymn as an opening instrumental number on some tour.

Marco rocks. You’ve done Romanticide now (I watched that first) so you’ve seen him again. He harmonises really well with Floor and the other frontwomen they’ve had. He does lead with some NW songs, guests with other bands and has a solo album out atm as well. On Song of Myself (live at Wacken 2013 of course) he gives me shivers every time and I’ve seen that video plenty of times. My nine year daughter has completely fallen for Nightwish. She started listening while I watching KZread vids and now she has her own playlist with captions so she can sing along. She’s also starting to enjoy some female fronted Italian power metal so I’m not quite sure where this is going to end lol Nice reactions and you have a new sub. See you in the next one.

I think your daughter likes Marco's voice. I see her smiling and enjoying more. I just come from watching your reaction on Romanticide, and she said that Ever Dream liked way more than GLS and Romanticide. So, I would recommend The Islander ( live Tampere ) and Kiss while your lips are still red ( live at Wembley ) those are basically Marco's songs, Floor does the backing vocals. Two beautiful songs. But, I still recommend The Poet and the Pendulum ( Wembley ) and of course The Greatest Show on Earth ( Tampere ), because those two are Nightwish's best tracks, for the lyrics and all the variations in the tempo, voice, like a rollercoaster. Marco (the bassist) is also a great vocalist. He has had his own heavy metal band "Tarot" since 1982 together with his brother Zachary, who plays lead guitar. Unfortunately their drummer died recently, and Marco said in one interview that Tarot is most likely over. Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley and the Greatest Show on Earth live at Tempere both have high production values. Both are long songs. Regarding Poet and the Pendulum, it is best to know the back story of that song and its relevance to the bands history after the first singer, Tarja was fired from the band. I’ve seen grown men weeping during that song. It is emotionally intense; especially for anyone who has felt deep betrayal in their lives. Nightwish has many sounds and as you may have seen, they are at their best live.

Nice choice :) Yeah,i think many remember Ever Dream to start off really slow and beautiful,then BOOM! They start jamming abit harder. Its still considered one of theyr more "soft" songs,wich tells you alot lol 😉

This is the first song I heard from Nightwish. Been hooked ever since.

You need to react to their version of Phantom of the Opera it is off the chains and features the original singer Tarja who is also an amazing singer! the best part of them live is how much fun they have. its clear they enjoy what they do and they love their fans!! Nightwish rules!

This one ends abruptly mostly because whoever uploaded the video cut it that awkwardly.

Sleeping sun live in Tampere 2015 is slow song from Nightwish.

Bassist Marco has an amazing voice. He actually has a kind of metal 'boy band' called Northern Kings, which is four Finnish metal singers who do metal covers of 80's pop songs. They have two albums out so far.

You found a band that she likes....Do more Nightwish. I have seen them 4 times live and the are Awesome live. If you ever get the chance to see them, don't miss it. They do tour the U.S. quite often, though usually at small venues because they don't have a huge following in the U.S. They toured last year so they may be around again in 2020. 😁

The "viking" looking guy Marco sings "The islander" by himself mostly, and Floor sings harmony with him on the chorus. It is GREAT and there is a video of it live IF you look for it. I am 95% sure the song is "The islander" I hope I am right on the song title.

Yes, those two are amazing. But then we have Slaying the dreamer, where he sings a lot too, and it's completely insane. You know, I've seen Floor doing this song and she does great, as usual, but Tarja nails it here. The contrast between Marco's rough voice and her high operetic notes is superb.

She's a got a different, much more classical style of singing (I mean like opera classical) than Floor who tends to blend classical vocals with pop/rock and even some musical theatre stylings (her epic belting is from her days as a musical theatre student I think)

Sorry, didn't go through all the comments but I'd recommend you to check out Marco's own band Tarot out too, started in the 80's and first two albums "The Spell of Iron" and "Follow Me Into Madness" are really brilliant old school heavy metal/hard rock. I haven't really checked out most of the later albums but at least one my younger brother used to listen to around the turn of the century sounded pretty good too. Oh, and this was a good pick, not done to death reaction like "The Pit and the Pendulum" or your first song. :)

Anyway, Marco has released a solo album lately and it's really good, it sounds a little like Pink Floyd. And probably you would love listening to his work in Tarot, the band he has been playing for decades and where he was the main singer. If you have any curiosity left for Nightwish, you should try out the song "Sleeping sun" (Both version are great : the one where Tarja sings is more opera-like than Floor's, but both are great). If you like another shocked reaction, you should try this song (KAMELOT - Liar Liar ft. Alissa White-Gluz (Official Video) | Napalm Records). That girl's voice is something... quite unexpected. ;) Anyways, keep up the good work!
