Tarja and Marko are my favorite vocal pairing in Nightwish. The way they play off each other is truly phenomenal. They have polar opposite styles, but they harmonize via excellent technique and control on both parts. Tarja is sick at this concert but still pulls off a great performance here. I have real admiration for how both singers delivered 110% at that special moment in time.

Tarja is the voice that broke me out of a years long music funk. This amazing woman is on tour in the US soon! Already have the tickets.

This is an amazing performance. She has such a unique, almost mysterious style to her singing. Another amazing song with her to check out is The Siren(live End Of An Era performance). Here and Marko are featured there too with an amazing Toumas keyboard solo.

This is my favorite version of Phantom of the Operah. This song fits Tarja and Marko perfectly. Tarja (pronounced "Tarya) now has her own band.

Tarja and Marco iconic duo ❤ the whole concert is great, Nemo, Wishmaster, Everdream, The Siren.... And older Nightwish (pre 2003) is even uniquer imo !

I always watch videos of this concert with mixed feelings, because backstage Tarja was fired afterwards. Nevertheless, in my opinion it was one of the best concerts Tarja had played with Nightwish. I was very happy when Marko recently announced that Tarja will play a concert with him on his tour. Without a doubt, this will be a musical highlight of the year!

I hadn't heard that they are going to have a concert togerher. I think is fabulous and I'm glad for them as well because it seems they've been able to put the past behind. I'm pretty sure all the shit storm that happend was painfull for all of them. If they can perform together, then perhaps they've been able to forgive eachother and perhaps repair some of the friendship as well.

I love this. It's my favourite and IMO the best version of Phantom by anyone ever. It just is.

Tarja is great! She has had a very good solo career after Nightwish. There are many really good live performances that are worth watching. Tarja has also has performed with "Steve'n'Seagulls". Steve'n'Seagulls are a bit of an acquired taste. Would be best to start with their version of "Thunderstruck" (or at least there countrified/bluegrass version of it) Very good but a bit different. Has about 160 million hits and they have over a million followers.

And she is making a new one. She is also coming to America, I believe next month for a tour that celebrates her 15-year solo career. Tarja has also released a classical and a few Christmas albums. I recommend that you do a song called Slaying the Dreamer from this same concert, End of an Era.

The j in Tarja is pronounced the same way as the J in Jansen. Tarja is still a singer, she does some solo stuff. Just look out for Tarja Turunen here on YT.

Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja formed this band. With this line-up they defined their sound globally. After 5 albums (more than others have done together) - this era ended. Rest is history and continuing process with replacements and substitutes plus additions. This performance is clearly the best one and they also act the classic piece of play so well.

Hi Inna! Tarja and Nightwish parted ways back in 2005 (-ish? Was so long ago) after several internal problems. Tarja went solo, the band wrote a letter (search for Open Letter to Tarja Turunen), which she replied with an open letter (Open Letter from Tarja Turunen) explaining her point of view. You can sense the disagreement between them both in those letters. After the dust settled, and for Nightwish to present Floor Jansen (or was it Anette Olzon?) as their new singer, "Bye Bye Beautiful" was released... Another song to react to? *wink*

I am like you. I love them. I am Finnish-American. I am so proud of them. I love Tarja and Marco. They are my new adopted cousins. The whole band is talented. This was her last concert. She was fired right after this show. So sad but she lives on. Marco also left but I believe he is coming ming back. Along with Greta Van Fleet, Dua Lipa they are keeping me busy with new songs. They are so unique. Floor is awesome too. I saw GVF and Dua (with Elton John) in concert. Hope to see them too. Tarja is on a tour now. I am going to see her in Los Angeles in June. the band has had 3 vocalists with different vocal skills, my favorite is "FLOOR" is more dynamic with her voice, "tarja" is very talented (first vocalist), but my favorite album of the band was released by (second vocalist) Anette Olzon, in fact it is one of the best-selling albums, but the fans of that time and the press criticized them a lot, it was a very abrupt and dark change for the band when they changed "TARJA" (voice is more operatic) for Anette la which her style was very different, but despite that she made my favorite albums of the band are by Anette, which "FLOOR" performed several masterfully at the 2013 concert

You said to correct you if you're wrong, so Tarja is pronounced "tar - ya" as J in both Dutch (like yan-sen as in Floor Jansen) and Finnish is pronounced as a Y. Tarja jas released several solo albums between then and now and I believe is on tour as of this writing. Tarja and Floor are friends and have done duets together. Two or three years ago, they did an Instagram live together that was entertaining and interesting to sit in on.

Tarja is the nightwish who became the nightwish! symphonic metal is exactly her voice! and it was her classic voice that made nightwish so popular!

This is a great metal version of this song with Tarja. Best normal version is Floor and Henk Port on Beste Zangers show. That is closest to how the song was performed on Broadway. Purists of the Phantom of the Opera would pick that version, metalheads would pick Marko and Tarja version. I watch both because Phantom is my favorite Broadway musical, have seen it 3 times since 1990. If I had to choose only one to watch or listen to, it would be the Beste Zanger one.

Yeah, what other band has had two great vocalists as great as the valkyrie goddess, Floor, and the angel, Tarja. Floor is amazing, but there are still many songs where I prefer Tarja (Phantom of the Opera, Dead Boy's Poem, Sleeping Sun, Nemo).

Fantastic version of this song, even Andrew Lloyd Webber is impressed.

Floor is now Nightwish, but this is still the best version of this song ever recorded.

I normally prefer Floor over Tarja, but this song Tarja + Marko, nothing beats this duo in this song. Not even Floor + Hank.

I give this performance to Tarja over floors version..with that said I think markos impact on this version was monstrous..this is also in tarjas wheel house of vocal abilities..I will say floors diverse vocal abilities give 90% of nightwishe songs the added life they were missing..in my opinion..

My favorite version of Phantom of the Opera. I just can't listen to any other version anymore, because it sounds so underwhelming compared to this. I feel like this is how the Broadway musical should have sounded, but they couldn't put it on with a metal backing band, and who could play it quite like this anyway. So well done. Marko and Tarja hit this one out of the park.

Best female vocalist for this song, with her departure, the group turned into a mess.

I think this could become a long discussion, but it is a matter of taste which of the two you prefer. Both of them are very good singers.

@@Boa_Omega I watched, I listened and expressed my opinion. How am I supposed to know if i like the song without listening to it? Sharing opinions is what comments are for.

Actually, I think you need to react to Floor performing this with Nightwish and Henk Poort in 2022. Tarja was great and Marko was spectacular in this version, but they have been surpassed by the latest version with Floor and Henk.
