The Virus has sent many of us with depression climbing the walls. He needs some down time to re-group and get some balance. We just need to leave Marco alone and support his decision to take some time to not deal with the Music Industry.

I can actually, I'd love to see Alan Doyle (of Great Big Sea) do a cover. I'd be hard pressed to think of another rock/metal vocalist who would do it justice, but the right celtic folk singer, especially a Newfoundlander, could do it justice.

There is one person that comes to mind...Jarkko Ahola. He is very skilled and has a similar tone to his voice. He'll never be able to REPLACE Marko (nobody can), but I think he could do a good job. Cheers!

@@Pomaufour No, the fans all say he needs a t-shirt that says "Floor Jansen is my backing vocalist." A rough translation of the Finnish bit is: "So if I sing the chorus, will you sing with me?" Yeah! "You'll sing?" YEAH! "Okay, let's do it!"

@@rebelwithacausecauseeffect6076 - I think the virtual concert was one thing he had promised to do, at the original date in March. When it was postponed it became a new appointment and something that is outside of his earlier promises.

I got tickets for the show on December 2020, but covid happened. It was gonna be my first Nightwish show after more than a decade listening to their music. And now Marko is gone....my heart is broken.

Somewhere there, in a parallel branch of this universe, a Nightwish concert just started right this moment and Marko is walking towards the microphone, getting ready to join Floor and bringing an entire stadium to eargasm. And Tuomas and the othes smile, as a storm of music is about to unleash :D

These songs won't be the same without him. Thanks for this magic, Marko.

His voice is a mix of cool silk, rich home made butterscotch and freezing aquavit. Wrapped up in ancient velvet and applied to my soul. Which he always manages to croon out of my body. I'm not complaining.

That is the best possible description I have ever heard of Marko's voice. Love it!

The Islander is one of my all time favourite songs. It's so beautiful and powerful. I'll miss Marko. He has such a great voice and brought so much good to the band. He's the man that inspired me to get into the Bass in the first place. I wish him all the best in his reinventing. I hope he comes out the other side stronger than ever. Whatever form that takes, whether he's back with Nightwish, Tarot, or not even making music at all. Love you Marko, Keep your head up.

There are just two of them left... The golden cast from the beginning of 2000's...

I only found Nighwish during the pandemic. This was immediately one of my favorite tracks. I hope he finds peace and that the rest of the band are able to help him and each other through the dark times. Peace to all of them.

One of the most fantastic and haunting ballads ever. Those Celtic vibes are pure magic. The only thing missing here is the hilarious "weasels" intro and the translation of the "Will you sing?" section. Everyone always asks what Marko says there.

When I saw Marko on the video thumbnail my heart is broken. You'lle be missed.

Wow...... it's really true. You don't appreciate someone fully untill they're gone. Nobody will sing this as he did. Hope he's in a better place now, enjoying life

Marko might have left but he will forever be a member of the Nightwish Army.

Marko was my inspiration and what pulled me to learn playing the Bass, and this song, specially, showed me that even with a "gritty" voice, you can sing so beatifully like this. Knowing he might not come back does hit me hard, since I started following Nightwish for him. Thanks Marko, you will be dearly missed, and we all hope to see you back

In 2012 I had tickets to see Nightwish with Anette Olzon and it ended up being Floor instead. I'll miss Marko but I'm confident the band will be cable to surprise us with somebody else with great talent. I also had tickets for 2020 sin Buenos Aires suspended by the pandemic. Hoping todo be greatly surprised soon.

As much as I will miss him in NW, as much I wish him all the best in the world! I think it is so good he concentrate on his health first! If there is life; -There's hope!! All the best to Marko!!

I have a feeling that unlike with Tarja, there will simply be no replacing Marco. It doesn't matter who Tuomas hires on to play bass or to sing his parts, Nightwish will never be the same without him.

This is always beautiful ! Floor's backing vocals are perfect without stealing the spotlight, and this is the best hommage the band could've given to Marko. I think I can safely say all our hearts are with him and with you. Stay amazing.

The guy with the glasses at 0:34 is clearly the biggest Nightwish fan of all time - he's at Hartwall Arena 2012, Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015...

Love the switches between the hard sound pick and the warm notes with his fingers! Just amazing

Such an outstanding performance by an outstanding person. I tried not to cry, but I did. To our incredible Marko, we are all sailing right behind you, holding our arms out to support you with love. You are amazing. Truly.

Marco leaves a gaping chasm, which on its own, simply can’t be filled by any one single individual. He brought so much to Nightwish - unlike many bassists who just fill the rhythm section by playing along with the drummer’s kicks (yes Pär, I’m talking about you) Marco complemented every other member of the band, often standing along side them to emphasise the fact, his his playing often including some improv without decimating the original pattern; his voice was not only a huge part of the Nightwish sound, but he was gracious enough to harmonise with Floor’s vocals from her very first appearance with the band, he made her feel right at home without making it overbearing; he’s a really nice guy, and he’s paying the price for that nowI really can’t imagine a future without Marco; not after Jukka went and couldn’t return now, even if he was fully fit and able to do so - it’s a bit like Maiden’s Smith / Gers situation when Ade wanted back in - they kept both - can’t see that working with a drummer. It’s sad that after bringing Troy and Floor into the family officially, that there’s now a real possibility of Nightwish not coming back from this - which I’m sure weighed heavily on Marco for a long time; how *do* you leave a band that you’re such a big part of, without it affecting the future of everyone? No wonder he’s depressed. He’ll be missed, like a hand falling off, it’s noticeable to everyone. I wish him good health and the band a bright, long and happy future.
