First, thank you for the shout-out. You should know that there is no mandatory order in that list, it includes the most successful performances of the band, and the recordings have a good audio-video quality. Often, however, the fans have more appropriate suggestions in the comments, so please don't ignore them. You noticed very well at the end, that their music, even after a decade and behind a screen, carries with it an intensely optimistic energy. And yes, it is felt in the chest, where it "dissolves" the pain and lets you breathe deeply. This energy helped me years ago to overcome difficult moments in life, when the state of tension effectively suffocated me. I'm not a unique case among Nightwish fans, I've heard this in various forms over the years. Likewise, the lyrics, mainly composed by Tuomas, are always significant and often poetic, full of metaphors. Many reactors limit themselves to image and sound, leaving with an incomplete experience. I'm glad that you are one of the relatively few who are perceptive at this level as well. When I was in school, about 3 decades ago :) so before the advent of the Internet, we would gather some friends at the house of one who had a better pickup and listen to an album together, smuggled from beyond the Iron Curtain. Good reactors, like you, remind me of those happy moments of my childhood. Thank you

The things that you seem to appreciate the most about Nightwish is the composition of Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist and greatest composer of my long lifetime. He writes most of the lyrics, and about 95% of the music the band plays. Both Tuomas and Floor are empaths and their music and delivery cuts right to your soul. As you progress through their catalog, you will hear that no two songs sound alike, and you will hear many genres and styles, and that is part of the genius of Tuomas. The members of the band are virtuosos in their own right, and they play what best serves the composition, rather than their ego. You will find that your love will grow exponentially with each song. Tuomas composes the orchestrations and has (usually) The London Symphonic Orchestra and Choir record the backing tracks for both albums and live performances. Welcome to the greatest band on the planet. I'm here to join you on your version of the greatest ride of my life!

Besides her voice, which I am in love with, I am impressed by Floor's ability to command a crowd with just a gesture. Did you notice that she did not ask the crowd to clap? She just put her hands over her head & clapped, & 82,000 people clapped along in unison without even thinking about it. Even you clapped along.

This a very fun and lovable Nightwish song. I am a 70 year old in service to the Nightwish Army. Before 2019 when I finally had my eyes opened to this band I had decided that there were no more bands of this century that could excite me. I too had never heard of symphonic metal as a genre at that time. My God, what revelation it has been! I encourage you to continue your dive down the NW rabbit hole. Gabriel is a trustworthy guide. For me, this entire 2013 Wacken concert is gold. I’ve witnessed firsthand the great rock icons, starting with the Yardbirds in 1966, and this concert is one of my favorites during all the subsequent years.

I had the same feeling as you...I didn't like today's music very much. And also not the music my grown up children like. I felt like my parents who didn't like the 70's music haha. And then ...what a fantastic world opened up with NW! And I was sooo exited that I can't remember which song of them I heard first haha. And although I enjoyed the good old days, and my favorite Moody Blues with warm feelings, NW time is the best! Greetings!

This is not your average Billboard Top 100 junkfood. And my next Nightwish recommendation would be the lyric video for 'Shoemaker'; where Nightwish is paying hommage to Eugene Shoemaker, a planetary scientist and geologist so highly esteemed in the scientific community, that a part of his ashes were interred on the moon. With most bands the pivotal point is the singer. When you have a singer like Floor, you would think this also goes for Nightwish. But for Nightwish almost every song is part of the journey through the mind of Tuomas (on keys, composer). Today you have seen a hint of the Peter Pan complex (fear of growing up and losing innocence) he has had for years. Remember it, because it will come back in many future songs.

Gabriel is right - no order, except maybe waiting a little bit for "the Poem and the Pendulum", because it is the holy grail of NW songs. And you haven't even scratched the surface 😂. Wacken was the beginning of Floor's journey with NW and they are developing more and more. If you like a sneak preview of what else is coming, please react to "Shoemaker" live Pinkpop 2022. From the last tour. But be careful 😇

As you progress you'll see that Nightwish really is extraordinary from all facets. You'll appreciate Emppu (Guitar), Marco (bass vocals-no longer with the band), Troy (exotic instruments). But eventually, maybe, you'll see that as extraordinary as Floor is, and as great as the first singer Tarja was, it's Thomas (Keyboard, composer, writer) who is the heart of the band and an extraordinary talent as well. Perhaps Genius with his compositions. I'm approaching 60 and this band not only refreshed my musical juices but it's a top 5 band for me that includes some very lofty names. Now I'm expanding to Epica and Floor's earlier bands and earlier Nightwish and Tarja's solo work... her dammed creepy Christmas song collection is is brilliant.

:) so, welcome to our lines i really liked your reactions to Floor/Nightwish so far, and i can´t wait for you to react to the songs that were written with Floor in the band! yes, you just listened to songs that were NOT written with her as the main vocalist. Even in Wacken she was NOT a official member of the band ... "Shallow" - Lady Gaga Cover "Ghost Love Score" - album "Once" - 2004 - 1st main vocalist Tarja Turunen "Alone" - Heart Cover "Storytime" - album "Imaginaerum" - 2008 - 2nd vocalist Anette Olzon did i missed one ? =) now let´s listen to one song, written for / with Floor ... her first single with Nightwish was "Élan", so i ask for a reaction to Èlan , live version of course .. or maybe you want to meet the 6th official member of Nightwish, Troy ? than go to "i want my tears back" live Buenos Aires 2018 ! greetings from Germany, i subbed for your journey :)

Even if you come to a song and think "this is not to my taste" (this has never happened to me) the next song will undoubtedly be because the songs are so different🙂 Wishing you a wonderful Happy Valentine's Day ❤

Nightwish army Canadian Division reporting in :D Been a Nightwish fan since the early 2000's the evolution of the band from Tarja to Annette and now Floor has been amazing. all the singers were great in their own rights. I've seen Nightwish live twice both with Floor and they were amazing shows, but that comment about this show was over 10 years old knocked me on my arse lol. truly ageless music. if you want more Folk music from them I'd recommend The Islander, or more newer checking out Harvest.

So many ways to relate to and try to describe what actually constitutes a real sincere and powerful Fandom. I'm glad you like Nightwish so much ,when I heard Nightwish for the first time years ago ,still with the second singer ,I was just as surprised how much I liked it .when I later heard Floor with GLS it was over for me .since then every day Nightwish ,attended several concerts etc .but what also flared up again was my love for metal which I had lost for some years . I actually stayed true to melodic metal, there are so many good bands in the world, maybe you will hear some of them. You've probably read Epica , with Floor as guest singer , the song Sancta Terra , there you can also see how many intersections metal and classical music have . Greetings from Germany

This is such a fun song, full of life and energy. It is one of the hardest songs for Floor because it's a freight train that keeps going and going, and she hardly has any time to recover, but you would never know by just seeing her do it. Most certainly one of my favorite songs, it rekindles a childlike wonder in us and reminds us of carefree times and discovery of the world around us. (for me anyway) And yeah, you start to realize why Nightwish is such a special band, they are incredibly diverse and have some of the best musicians in the business. (one one of the best singers period)

Another awesome reaction! Yep, they're music can be a bit overwhelming for "newbies" 🙂 I had never heard of symphonic metal until I heard Nightwish. Been a metalhead since I was 10 (in the early 70s) and stumbled across Nightwish in the late 90s. They took everything I knew about rock to a whole new level. The Who, my favorite for years) was instantly dropped from #1 to #2 as my favorite band of all time. 😀

OK, I have a little bit of a sidetrack for you to look into. You look a lot like composer and keyboard player Tuomas's beautiful wife Johanna and the pair of them, along with Troy from Nightwish, formed a side project called Auri. Johanna provides her own stunning vocals, with all 3 of them contributing to the music. A very different sound to Nightwish, but absolutely gorgeous and well worth you checking out. Similar to Nightwish in one way though; pick any track because they are all fantastic.

Right, Red, you clearly enjoy clever writing combined with loads of energy and creativity and that tells us you might very well be ready for their Wembley live performance of The Poet and the Pendulum - one of their masterpieces. That one needs a bit of prepping beforehand, though, because lots of elements, lots of symbolism in both music and lyrics, but we are confident that you will get it, and appreciate it. And they've done it again, the Valkiry Queen and Nightwish have recruited yet another new member. Redheadedneighbor, welcome to the NWA. For the time being, we will not give you any suggestions other than those you have already received from our general. Their entire concert at the Wacken Open Air festival 2013 is worth listening to and tasting symphonic metal. (Ghost Love Score was #13/15) So it is good to take the time to process all these new impressions. (P.s. I saw you responded to several Pink Floyd songs. Now it turns out that Nightwish paid tribute to Pink Floyd during their 2005 concert by performing "High Hopes" live, but that will come in time after you get to know Marko Hietala (bass & vocals).)

You will have many kind of emotions and feelings with Nightwish🙂 Following the Gabriel’s list, is a good way to start this journey. This band don’t stuck in the certain type of music or even in the typical instruments. Some songs will be even close to metal musical theather. This more artistic side opens up to you later🙂 Tuomas, the keyboard player, who compose and write most of these songs, is an artist, poet and a genious in writing lyrics, and making these songs. Every one of their song has a message or story to tell, from very heart warming emotions, to darker and sad feelings.

You have such a journey ahead of you. This team of talented musicians play for the song, and there is no ego involved in what they do. You will get to know the musicians, and find that each one is a master at what they do. Jukka (and later Kai) on the drums, Emppu, who can make that guitar sing what ever song he needs it to sing, Marko, the bassist who is also a superior singer, and whose harmonies with Floor are beyond perfect, Troy, the multi-instrumentalist who you have not seen yet, and behind it all, the rock upon which this band, this supergroup, is built is the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, whose compositional and lyrical skills are world class. This is a band that makes you think, and makes you wonder.
